In 2013, he was the first-round NBA pick, 29th overall. Destined to do great, Archie Goodwin had a drastic fall. After several burst-or-bust moments and limited time on the court for 5 NBA seasons, the fans saw him leave the NBA, and he has since been flourishing in the patches with small stints. But it seems the highs are finally here, as he is making waves with the Jiangsu Dragons, a basketball team in the Southern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association. The shooting guard’s hard work amidst turmoil is not going to waste, as Floyd Mayweather Jr. is unloading praise on him.

Goodwin, 30, started the season on high with his stint with Eberlein Drive, as the team reached the semis of The Basketball Tournament (TBT), where the winner took $1 million home. Interestingly, Mayweather Jr. had expressed interest in investing in it in 2023 because of his obsession with basketball. The fans have often seen him enjoying high-profile NBA games up front.Floyd Mayweather

The fans are also aware of the fostering relationship ‘Money’ has with several NBA stars, including Archie Goodwin. But Goodwin’s resilience has caught his eye now, and he is keeping a tab on the development of the Jiangsu Dragons, Goodwin’s latest team.

So, when Goodwin dropped 38 points against the Guangdong Southern Tigers on December 5, it served as a response to his critics. In addition, the aspiring performance also put Mayweather Jr. on notice, who then took to his Instagram handle and lauded the former Phoenix Suns’ shooting guard. Sharing the clip of the performance, on his Instagram Story, he wrote, “@nba my guy @allaflare10 Out In China putting in Work.. 38 points.”

What’s more? Goodwin also secured 25 points in his December 1 match against Tianjin. So, the Arkansas native is on a roll right now, and these strong performances could push him to maybe break into the NBA once again—his last chance to fulfill his potential and destiny. After Mayweather Jr.’s gesture, Goodwin also hit back at his critics in a subtle way.
