Iconic List of Tiger Woods’ top ten greatest-ever moments including iconic Masters comeback

The game of golf has witnessed some truly iconic moments over the years, with Tiger Woods playing a starring role in a lot of them.

With a whopping 15 majors and 82 PGA Tour wins to his name, it’s hard to whittle down Woods’ best moments to a solitary ten. The Sport Review, though, has tried its best in doing so.

10) 2018 Tour Championship

After years without a win, Tiger’s persistent injuries had forced him outside of the world’s top 1,000 heading into 2018.

Woods, however, would go on to show there’s still some gas in the tank, ending the season with an iconic win at the Tour Championship.

With the crowd roaring him home, Tiger rolled back the years and picked up his 80th PGA Tour title at East Lake.

9) Tiger’s best-ever shot

Despite fans almost becoming numb to Tiger’s brilliance, the golfing GOAT would still shock supporters from time to time.

The best example of this came back in 2002 at the PGA Championship, where Tiger would produce arguably the greatest shot of his career.

Lining up on the 18th hole, Woods would manufacture a simply crazy 3-iron shot from the bunker, to set up an eight-foot putt, which he of course drained.

8) The 1996 Las Vegas Invitational

The win that started it all.

Tiger would secure his first-ever PGA Tour win in 1996, beating Davis Love III to the title.

Woods’ Las Vegas victory would also earn him a spot in the 1997 Masters – a major that will live long in the memory of Tiger fans.

7) The 2005 Masters

When people are asked what their favourite Tiger shot of all-time is? You can bet it’ll be his chip on 16 at Augusta.

The shot looked too short at first glance, but the ball would eventually trickle its way into the hole, sending the Masters crowd into raptures.

That chip would galvanise Tiger in the home stretch, and the GOAT would go on to beat Chris DiMarco in a play-off, securing his fourth green jacket in the process

6) The 2006 Open Championship

Tiger’s victory at the Royal Liverpool Club came only a matter of weeks after his father’s passing.

Clearly spurred on by the memory of his father, Woods played like a man possessed to secure the Claret Jug.

Upon lifting the trophy, Woods was visibly emotional, with long-term friend and caddie Steve consoling him.

5) The 2000 US Open

Golf had never seen dominance like Tiger’s during the late 1990s and 2000s, and this tournament was a perfect example of that.

In what can only be described as the perfect golfing performance, Woods conquered the field, winning by a whopping 15-shot margin.

Tiger would carry his Pebble Beach brilliance into the rest of the year, winning a staggering nine PGA Tour events that year – a record that still stands today.

4) The 2001 Masters

Only the crème de la crème can become grand slam winners, with only five players in history managing to lift all four championships (Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, Open Championship).

Tiger is unsurprisingly one of those players; he, however, did it his own way.

Off the back of winning his second Masters in 2001, Woods became the first ever player in history to hold all four majors at once – something that would later be known as the ‘Tiger Slam’.

3) The 1997 Masters

Many people look back on this victory as the moment Tiger truly announced himself to the world.

At just 21 years old, the California native dominated the field with ease, with his record of 270 strokes going down in Augusta history.

This victory would ultimately be the catalyst for Tiger’s sporting dominance for years to come.

2) The 2008 US Open

The US Open is regarded as one of golf’s hardest tests, with only the toughest being able to prevail.

This was the case back in 2008, when an injured Tiger had to overcome a play-off against Rocco Mediate, with virtually one leg.

With a torn ACL and leg fracture, Woods somehow managed to win the US Open through pure grit and determination.

If there were a single moment to sum up Tiger, it would be this one.

1) The 2019 Masters

Simply no other moment could have topped this list.

In what can only be described as one of sports best-ever comeback stories, Woods proved all the doubters wrong at Augusta.

Injuries and controversy had led many to write off the GOAT, Tiger, though would roll back the years and fight off the likes of Brooks Koepka, to secure a historic 15th major.

Iconic.
