Boxing legend Mike Tyson has released a first statement since his loss to Jake Paul in a Texas ring, going into detail about his recent health woes.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time,” Tyson wrote on X.

“I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won,” he wrote.

JUST IN: Mike Tyson Feels He ‘Still Won’ After Defeat in Jake Paul Boxing Match

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you 🙏”

Fox News reported that Tyson suffered an ulcer last spring. At the time, Fox News reported that Tyson had “a medical scare, becoming nauseous and dizzy on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.”

Paul, 27, was declared the victor against Tyson, 58, by unanimous vote of the judges after the November 15 fight. The fight was controversial because Tyson failed to connect many punches, and many users on social media described the battle as “boring” and “underwhelming.” NBA great Magic Johnson declared the fight “sad.”

Paul responded to Tyson’s statement in the comment thread, writing, “Love you Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all.”

The positivity came after a night of negative comments on social media after the production was plagued by streaming issues on Netflix, with many users reporting that the streaming video constantly buffered. In addition, Paul was mocked by some fans online who suggested that he should fight someone his own age and weight.

For his part, Paul responded to some comments by challenging UFC champion Conor McGregor to a match. Other fans praised Tyson even before his statement for having the guts to get in the ring at all at his age.

Tyson’s statement was met favorably on social media. X CEO Elon Musk was one of the first people to chime in, writing, “Bravo” in Tyson’s comment thread.

Tucker Carlson wrote on X, “Respect. To battle back from near death, step into the ring, and go toe-to-toe in front of your kids shows the true heart of a warrior. Winning isn’t always about the score—it’s about standing tall when life knocks you down. Bravo, champ.”

“What beautiful humility and grace. Well done, Mr. Tyson,” another user wrote.

“Brother you won. You are the goat always,” another page wrote.

“You’ve survived 100% of your worst days. That’s a reminder of how strong you truly are. 💪 #KeepFighting #InnerStrength,” another fan wrote.

“If you sent Jake back in time to fight 1988 Iron Mike, he wouldn’t have woken up until last night. Enjoy your life and your family, champ. You’re still the GOAT,” a fan wrote on X.

“You’re still the baddest man on the planet Mike. Glad my kids and I got to see you in the ring one more time. 🙏” a fan wrote.

Despite the outcome of his recent fight against Jake Paul, Mike Tyson doesn’t feel like he lost.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time,” Tyson, 58, wrote via X on Saturday, November 16. “I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.” He added, “To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.” Minutes after Tyson shared his statement, Paul, 27, replied via X, saying, “Love you Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all.” Pro Athletes Call Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s Boxing Match ‘Pathetic’ Earlier this year, Tyson suffered a medical emergency on a plane while traveling from Miami to Los Angeles, which his team confirmed to Us Weekly at the time was due to an ulcer flare-up.

“He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing,” his rep shared in a statement to Us in May. “He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.” At the time, Tyson insisted that he didn’t need to be “feeling 100%” to “beat Jake Paul,” but the boxing match was still postponed from its original date in July until Friday, November 15. “During a follow-up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare-up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations,” read a statement from Tyson’s team posted on social media.

The statement also noted Tyson and Paul were “in agreement” over the decision to postpone, writing, “It is only fair that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important match and are able to compete at the highest level.” Paul ultimately won the November match, which took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event streamed live globally on Netflix. “It’s such an honor. He’s a legend. He’s the greatest to ever do it. I’m inspired by him,” Paul said following his win. “This man is an icon. It’s an honor to be able to fight him. It was really tough, like I expected it to be.” Tyson was gracious in his defeat, saying after the match, “I didn’t prove nothing to anybody, only to myself. I’m not one of those guys that wants to please the world. I’m only happy with what I can do.”

Jake Paul reigned supreme over Mike Tyson tonight in what fans have dubbed as ‘the most boring boxing fight in the history of boxing’.

Despite the match going the distance, there was not too much that went on – other than watching a 27-year-old land punch after punch on a 58-year-old.

‘The Problem Child’ won following a unanimous decision, and from the outside looking in it seemed like Tyson wouldn’t be in a hurry to climb back into the ring.

Mike Tyson challenges Logan Paul to a fight in awkward exchange after losing to his brother

But instead of tasting defeat and bowing out, he’s gone all guns blazing and called out Jake’s older brother Logan Paul in what was a slightly awkward exchange after losing.

After calling him out, Logan replied: “Well f***, I’ll kill you Mike.”

Jake Paul had to go all eight rounds to beat Mike Tyson in front of a packed house at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Friday night.

Over 75,000 fans packed into ‘Jerry World’ to witness the historic heavyweight showdown, with tens of millions expected to have tuned in on Netflix. The stars were out in force, including Jake’s brother Logan Paul and a host of other social media and sport stars.

The controversial bout saw social media star-turned-fighter Paul take on the beloved boxing icon Tyson at the age of 58. Despite many fearing for the Brooklyn native’s safety, there was also belief that career-cruiserweight Paul may not be able to take a major heavyweight shot.

JUST IN: Jake Paul Earns Decision Over Mike Tyson

On a night devoid of knockouts, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson failed to deliver the stoppage in their highly-anticipated clash. Their initial July date was rescheduled when the former heavyweight champion suffered an ulcer flare-up that left him fearing for his life.

But he looked in phenomenal shape as he made the walk for the first time as a professional since 2005, when he was stopped by Kevin McBride. Paul made him wait with a lengthy ring walk before boxing icon ‘Iron Mike’ entered second in his traditional minimalist black garb.

However, he quickly tired as Paul trudged to a decision victory, almost at times looking as though he didn’t want to unload on Tyson. Ultimately, the scorecards read 78-72 on one and 79-71 on two as the YouTuber picked up the biggest, if not the most impressive, win of his career.

The crowd erupted upon the sight of Tyson, who stepped into the ring as a major underdog. And he and Paul gave them what they wanted, with the elder fighter attacking early and aggressively from the opening bell.

Paul managed to evade and land some shots of his own, but appeared nervous about taking the big punches. It seemed that Tyson actually took the first, particularly given the short two-minute duration that favored him early.

Within minutes, however, Tyson’s slowing down became noticable and by round five it was a tough watch as Paul unloaded. The final few rounds were pitter patter, with the pair even bowing in respect to close out the eighth round.

Jake Paul was expected to walk away from the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas on Friday with a victory over 58-year old Mike Tyson.

While the vast majority of fans were hoping that “Iron” Mike would turn back to clock for just one night, one round, even just one minute or less for a knockout blow, father time is undefeated for a reason. Paul, 30 years younger than his latest opponent, was expected to have the edge in speed, stamina, chin, just about everything outside of, perhaps, power.

Tyson had not competed since an exhibition contest against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. Though no winner was declared, most had Tyson getting his hand raised – but Jones, like Mike Tyson, was already in his 50s.

After an extended intro, walkouts and introductions, it was just past midnight on the East Coast when Mike Tyson entered his first sanctioned fight in decades. “Iron” Mike landed an overhand right early, and backed Paul into the ropes, forcing the younger man to clinch up. That appeared to be part of Paul’s game plan early on – clinch up, and let the ref sort things out. Paul did have his right hand in his back pocket, and uncorked that more than once, as well as his jab. Tyson might have laid claim to the first round.

Round two (with two minute rounds in effect, the first had flown by) saw Tyson come forward, doubling up on his left. Paul went to the body with his right. The speed difference was clear as day even just three minutes into the fight; Tyson at times looked like he was in slow motion compared to Paul. That didn’t stop the crowd from starting a “Tyson” chant. Little action in the second frame, which Paul likely took.

Mike Tyson landed a left to open round three, starting the round hot. Paul answered back with a hook, hurting Tyson. Another left hook landed for Paul. And another. Jake Paul landed one more left hand at the end of the round, but held up, opting not to turn up the heat on Tyson. Overall, a horrible round for Mike Tyson.

Jake Paul danced around Tyson in round four, far lighter on his feet. Paul went to the body, and found more success with his left hook. Tyson tried a little lateral movement, but overall, round four had a distinct lack of action from both men.

Round five saw Tyson land a left hand in the back half of the round. Mike displayed better movement through the first minute, but didn’t land anything of note other than the left. Paul connected with a right late, and Tyson fired a left at the bell.

Following the fifth, and more than halfway into the eight-round fight, Tyson’s corner advised him that they couldn’t wait any longer to get going. At best, Tyson had won the first, but Paul more than likely had taken the next four frames. Round six saw Paul jab to the body and head, with Tyson struggling to find a way inside. Again, not a ton of action, and if anything, it seemed as if Paul might be showing some restraint.

Tyson opened round seven with a connection. Not anything fight-changing, but at least a sign of life. The rest of the round was Jake Paul using his range and length well, connecting repeatedly as Tyson struggled to come forward. The former heavyweight champ took a massive breath back on his stool ahead of the final round.

With two minutes to somehow pull out a win, the deck was stacked against Mike Tyson. Paul’s left hook continued to be a threat. Tyson continued to struggle to find an entry. Paul jabbed, keeping Tyson at bay. A right hand clipped Mike. Nothing serious. After the 10 second clapper, Paul actually bowed to the heavyweight legend, but there was no question as to the winner: Jake Paul’s pocketbook, and father time. A fight that didn’t need to happen played out as expected, with the silver lining being that Tyson suffered no permanent damage.

Official Result: Jake Paul def. Mike Tyson by unanimous decision (80-72, 79-73, 79-73)

As ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson and Jake Paul get set to touch gloves in front of a packed AT&T Stadium, as well as in front of millions on Netflix, it should be noted that Friday’s contest could yet be cancelled.

The fight was originally supposed to take place in July, before Tyson was forced to withdraw from that date due to health complications. However, with his stomach ulcer issues now behind him, the 58-year-old looks ready to finally settle the score with social media sensation Paul.

Controversy has plagued the bout ever since it was announced, mainly because of the 31-year gap between the two participants. Paul, who is 27, has padded his professional record with a number of victories over combat sports legends who have all been well past their best.

The likes of Ben Askren, Tyrone Woodley, Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva have all left their usual stomping ground of MMA to take on ‘The Problem Child’ in the boxing ring, whereas Tyson is considered one of the greatest heavyweights ever to lace up a pair of gloves. ‘Iron’ Mike still looks the part, sporting a ripped physique ahead of the fight. However, there’s no getting away from the fact that he is just a few years shy of his 60th birthday.

With that in mind, the commission responsible for overseeing the fight wants to undertake a series of last-minute checks – and the fight won’t be rubber-stamped until they’ve been completed.

Why Tyson Vs Paul Isn’t Official Yet

‘Iron’ Mike must pass two specific tests in the hours before the fight

The eight-round fight is being staged under the supervision of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) and their rules state:

A person aged 36 or older applying for a contestant’s license must submit a report of favourable physical testing, including but not limited to an EEG (electroencephalography) and an EKG (electrocardiogram).”

Some 22 years older than the stated cut-off point, Tyson will need to pass both of the above tests before the fight or it will not be able to go ahead as a professional contest. In the event that the heavyweight legend doesn’t pass either test, the commission would have the option of downgrading it from a professional fight to an exhibition – or scrapping it altogether.

Neither of those options will be appealing to promoters, with tens of thousands of tickets sold and an audience of millions set to tune in on Netflix. Tyson vs Paul has already had one of the most controversial build-ups in boxing history. Those who are eagerly anticipating the fight will be hoping that there are no last-minute issues that prevent it from taking place.

Lightweight prospect Keyshawn Davis is coming off a dominant 2nd round knockout win over Gustavo Lemos.

He dropped the Argentinian opponent three times in the 2nd round before getting his hand raised in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia. Since the fight, Davis has revealed details about his post-fight calls with five-division champion Floyd Mayweather on social media.

‘Money’ Mayweather retired from the sport in 2017 following his win over former UFC champion Conor McGregor. However, his relationship with boxing didn’t end there. He has been guiding several boxers through the pro ranks and into stardom. Regardless, since Keyshawn’s post on Instagram about the call with Mayweather, Gervonta Davis seems to have gotten caught in the crossfire, as fans share their opinion.

Earlier today, 25-year-old undefeated lightweight Keyshawn Davis took to Instagram to reveal insights into his post-fight conversations with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. “It’s crazy, Floyd calls me after every fight just to discuss my performance. Not only is he the GOAT, but he’s also a real mentor,” Davis wrote while sharing a screenshot of his FaceTime conversation with ‘Money.’ Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, who once fought under Mayweather’s promotional banner, departed from the promotion in May 2022, citing a desire to promote his own fights. However, tensions between them had been apparent for some time, as the two frequently clashed on and off social media.

In more recent times, the Davis duo has been clashing on social media. Before Keyshawn’s fight earlier this week, the 25-year-old was taking shots at ‘Tank,’ with the latter firing back on X. So, given their newfound animosity against each other, people started speculating a fight could be on the horizon.

In what appears to be an attempt to fan the flames, Keyshawn Davis shared details about his phone call with Mayweather. It’s also worth mentioning that the legendary boxer was previously pushing for a fight between ‘Tank’ and WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, but that never ended up happening.

Davis is currently slated to fight Lamont Roach sometime in January next year, but no location or specific date has been revealed as of the time of writing. That said, Keyshawn’s post today seems to have been enough to send fans into a frenzy.

Even though ‘The Businessman’ never mentioned Gervonta Davis in his post, fans were quick to rope in the WBO lightweight champion. One user implied Keyshawn’s post was a direct jab at ‘Tank.’ “Y’all love making tank mad for some reason😂😂💯,” the user wrote. However, it’s difficult to say whether Gervonta Davis even cares about such a thing.

Another user felt Floyd Mayweather may have pushed Keyshawn to start the feud with ‘Tank.’ “Now we know why you beefing wit tank 😂,” the user commented. Despite their beef, it’s unclear whether this will spill over into a full-blown fight.

Meanwhile, this user thought Keyshawn’s post about Mayweather was genuine. “I can definitely tell he been mentoring you with your defense in the fight. You barely got touched and counter punches were 🔒,” the user wrote. However, why would a rising boxer wait so long to announce his affiliation with one of boxing’s biggest stars when he could have done it earlier to attract more attention?

Someone else alleged that Floyd Mayweather was the one stirring up trouble for Gervonta Davis.“Floyd sending everybody after Tank 😂,” commented the user. Well, he has done this in the past. Why not now?

The next user proposed Keyshawn should fight someone else. “Fight Andy Cruz what makes u think u going to get fight before shakur smh,” the user wrote. However, it appears neither of them are getting the fight against Gervonta Davis. Having said that, the post from Keyshawn Davis seems to have failed to make people buy into the whole post-fight discussion with Floyd Mayweather. Instead, the prevailing sentiment seems to be that it was a clear dig at Gervonta Davis.

Though it may be all about Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, the upcoming MVP-Netflix card at the Cowboys Stadium promises to make it a night to remember for boxing purists as well.

The crowd and millions of viewers across the world will be treated to a historic duel. Two years after leaving their marks at Madison Square Garden, Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor are poised to create yet another magic.

Serrano and Taylor will face off for the latter’s undisputed light welterweight title. Ahead of their match, the two champions had a chance to meet face-to-face and share their thoughts on their rematch. The discussion covered several topics, including a callout from undisputed champion Claressa Shields. The two-time Olympic gold medalist had issued an open challenge to settle the much debated ‘Greatest Woman of All Time’ (GWOAT) title. As their conversation unfolded, it became clear the matter could be viewed from different angles.

Did Amanda Serrano’s response spark the ‘GWOAT’ issue? When asked for the reasons behind moving up a division to chase the 140-pound undisputed title, ‘The Real Deal’ replied, “I want to be great. I’m chasing greatness, and that’s what I want to do. Fighting Katie Taylor is just that, and you know, becoming a two-division undisputed champion would be amazing.

Addressing Taylor, the host asked, “So Clarissa Shields actually challenged both of you females to see who’s the best woman’s fighter on Earth. What do you have to say about that, Katie?” The London Olympic gold medalist laughed it off. For her, the entire focus was on what lay ahead—the fight against Amanda Serrano. But Katie Taylor seemed a bit perplexed. Given the sheer weight difference, why Claressa Shields should call them out?

Nevertheless, she stressed that both she and Serrano were fighters who were willing to go against anyone. “I don’t understand how there can’t be just more than one great. You know, we’re all great in our own ways. We all bring different things to the women’s boxing. We’re bringing more eyes to the sport of women’s boxing, and I’m just so proud to always have been in the top three pound-for-pound.” Amanda Serrano made her pitch. Katie Taylor couldn’t have agreed more.

Highlighting Claressa Shields’ achievements in women’s boxing, ‘The Bray Bomber’ suggested that perhaps picking the best pound-for-pound best among the three of them would be highly subjective. Still, Katie Taylor felt honored to be included in such a pivotal conversation.

On July 27, Claressa Shields stepped into the ring to face Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse. Their light heavyweight duel occurred at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. It appears she wasn’t too pleased with Amanda Serrano’s usage of the term ‘GWOAT’.

At the pre-fight press conference, Shields took the opportunity to clear the air. Who deserves the ‘GWOAT’ status—all Amanda Serrano, Katie Taylor, and Alycia Baumgardner need to do is fight her. Highlighting how she can enter any weight class and win, Shields said, “Everybody talking about ‘who’s the GWOAT.’ Who’s undefeated?! Who got the most belts?! Who made the million dollars the last couple times she fought without a promoter giving her a handout?! That’s who the GWOAT is. Who fights the best?! Who doesn’t struggle in fights no matter what style?

Claressa Shields puts women’s boxing on notice. Calls out Amanda Serrano, Katie Taylor, Alycia Baumgardner. “I’m the GWOAT”
byu/OkEscape7558 inBoxing

She added further, “I’ll be winning Saturday night, and any of those girls who want to be the GWOAT, all you got to do is make a fight with me: Alycia Baumgardner, Amanda Serrano, and Katie Taylor. All you got to do is make a fight with me, and then I can show you you’re not the GWOAT for many reasons.

Perhaps Amanda Serrano’s response best sums it all up: Women’s boxing has come a long way. Given where it stands today, there’s definitely a space for a few contemporary greats to stand together and collectively inspire the new generation.

Recently, former European middleweight champion Matthew Macklin claimed on Sky Sports that Anthony Joshua’s decision not to pursue an immediate rematch against Daniel Dubois is not surprising and that he might even retire from boxing after his recent loss.

On September 21, 2024, Daniel Dubois successfully defended the IBF world title by unexpectedly knocking out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round.

The fight, held at Wembley Stadium, was a decisive moment for both fighters. Joshua, who came off two consecutive victories with his new trainer, entered the ring with high confidence.

However, the result was a resounding defeat for Anthony Joshua and has cast doubt on his future in the ring.

It was previously reported that the rematch between Joshua and Dubois was scheduled for February 2025, but Joshua canceled it, citing it was too soon. Speaking with Sky Sports, former boxer Matthew Macklin shared his thoughts on Joshua’s decision.

“I always thought once the dust had settled, it was a fight that wouldn’t happen,” Macklin remarked.

“Personally, I think that could be that for Joshua anyway,” Macklin opined.

At 34 years of age, Joshua is at a pivotal moment in his career, where a loss of this magnitude can impact his confidence. Macklin added that the defeat was so clear that it won’t be easy for Joshua to recover.

“I understood the talk of it because, for Joshua, his pride was hurting, and when your pride is hurting, you just want to get back in there to rectify the situation,” Macklin stated.

“A loss like that will take a lot to come back from. At 34 years of age, you don’t get better; it goes downhill from here,” the Sky Sports analyst claimed.

Matthew Macklin’s comments also include the possibility of Anthony Joshua retiring from boxing.

Watch all angles of Dubois' huge knockout punch which ended his fight with Joshua

According to the expert, the two-time world champion might choose to reflect on his future after a decade of success in the heavyweight division.

“When the dust settles, he has time to reflect and think about his next move. It wouldn’t shock me at all if AJ doesn’t box again and retires. And what a career he would have had,” Macklin expressed.

While Joshua decides his future, Daniel Dubois is preparing to defend his IBF world title against New Zealand’s Joseph Parker in February.

Parker has made a comeback after his loss to Joe Joyce in 2022, securing impressive victories over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.

Macklin believes that Parker is at the peak of his career. He also thinks the fight between Dubois and Parker will be highly competitive, emphasizing that the current Dubois has more confidence and physical form than ever.

On the other hand, there is still speculation about a possible fight between Joshua and Tyson Fury, especially if Fury manages to defeat Oleksandr Usyk. However, Macklin states that it’s uncertain whether Joshua will have the desire to continue fighting.

“The Tyson Fury fight could still happen if he were to beat Oleksandr Usyk. It would still be a huge fight, but I just don’t know what AJ’s appetite for boxing is at this point; it’s hard to say.”

The future of Anthony Joshua remains uncertain, and there is no official date for his return yet. However, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, made it clear that Joshua will be ready to step back into the ring in May or June 2025.

Deontay Wilder has revealed he suffered a gruesome unknown injury before his last two boxing fights.

The former WBC world heavyweight champion lost to Joseph Parker by way of unanimous decision in December before suffering a fifth-round knockout at the hands of Zhilei Zhang in June.

It leaves the American heavyweight some way off the world title picture and a potential money-spinning fight against Anthony Joshua looks further away than ever.

Wilder became WBC world champion back in 2015 and defended his title on ten separate occasions before losing it to Tyson Fury in their second fight back in February 2020.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ then lost to Fury for a second time in the final instalment of their epic trilogy in 2022 and has since struggled to reclaim former glories.

Wilder made light work of Robert Helenius with a one-round knockout in 2022 before struggling against Parker and Zhang.

Still, speaking to American outlet TMZ, Wilder revealed an unknown broken arm may have had an impact.

“I broke my arm way back in November sometime. I didn’t know,” he said.

“I had two tears on my shoulder. I could feel the pain, but I just thought it was old injuries. But I got an MRI [recently] and everything was f***ed up there, I didn’t know because I’ve got a high tolerance of pain.”
