Mike Tyson could be back in the ring again soon despite losing to Jake Paul with a whimper in return to the professional ranks in November.

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ saw his record drop to 50-7 with a third straight defeat, almost twenty years since his last bout against Kevin McBride. According to a man who had unlimited access to Tyson’s training camp, his friend Amer Abdallah, the youngest heavyweight champion’s ring career may not be over.

“As far as fighting [professionally] again, I don’t think that’s going to be something that he would consider,” Abdallah exclusively told WBN . “But at the end of the day, it’s Mike who is going to make that decision.

“Here’s one thing about Mike Tyson that I’ll tell you: Mike will make any decision that he feels is fit for his current situation. So, today, the answer might be no. But, next month, six months from now. The answer might be yes. It depends on what Mike wants to do and the mentality he’s in,” he added.

Abdallah said Tyson had been looking for a proper challenge for years for why he accepted a $20 million offer to face a 27-year-old influencer boxer opponent in Paul.

“He wanted the fight. And for the eight to ten weeks we were in training camp, he was busting his ass like he was 25 years old. He had that fire that he wanted to be in the gym. Discipline drove him to be there.

“I had the honor of being with him for the Roy Jones Jr card, and Badou fought just before Jake. Mike had fun in that fight. Maybe he’ll do exhibitions. It depends on what Mike wants to do. Mike does what he wants. He’s a living legend today. Whatever he’ll do, people will follow.

“Roy Jones at 52 years old, top 10 PPV events in the sport’s history. Then, Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul was the most viewed event of our time. Mike Tyson is Mike Tyson, man. He’s the guy,” concluded Abdallah.

Tyson was linked to a fight with Lennox Lewis before his poor performance at the AT&T Stadium. If the old rivals were to have a rematch, it undoubtedly would be under exhibition rules and not a serious fight.

However, despite the good numbers, Netflix would probably pass on any future Tyson events after being burned by the main event.

Ryan Garcia says he will fight Isaac Cruz in his next fight in May following the conclusion of his boxing ban.

Garcia was given a year ban after failing VADA tests for Ostarine against Devin Haney. He was prevented from boxing until April 2025 as his majority decision win was overturned. Garcia was adamant that he had not taken any substances intentionally. Meanwhile, his camp also argued that the amount in his system was insufficient to enhance performance. There have been talks over a Haney rematch, with reports that it could take place later in October.

Haney would have to drop his lawsuit, which he has done. Meanwhile, Garcia would be required to undergo VADA testing. Reports indicate that these hurdles have been overcome, with both sides agreeing to those stipulations. But before that can happen, Garcia must prepare for one of the biggest fights of his career.

Ryan Garcia Says He Is Fighting Isaac Cruz In May

JUST IN: “I’m The Greatest Ever”: Heavyweight Legend Says His Record Proves He Was Better That Muhammad Ali

He had been linked with the Cruz fight before he faced Haney last April. But Cruz pulled out at the last minute as he later went on to face Rolando Romero. Cruz won the WBA Junior Welterweight Title with a stoppage win over Romero. But he lost the belt in his last fight, coming up short against Jose Valenzuela. A win over Cruz will likely help Garcia secure the Haney rematch. Haney is also on course to return in April on BLK Prime. Reports indicate that Adrien Broner is the leading opponent.

Garcia cannot afford to overlook Cruz, who only has two losses in his career. The other one was against Gervonta Davis. But he was praised for managing to go the distance against a knockout artist. Garcia knows he will be in a tough fight since Cruz is known for coming forward. He is also known for having a solid chin and durability, which has drawn him comparisons with Mike Tyson.

But Garcia will want to remind fans that he is a knockout artist, as he possesses a devastating left hook. If Cruz continues to move forward, Garcia will have a bigger target to aim for. It will also help prepare him for any Haney rematch since it will remove any ring rust that he may have suffered during his time out.

“Yes, In May. We’re going to be fighting there. It’ll be good. Another big fight. I’m ready to do it. Pitbull is still a great fighter. He may have lost one time [correction: 3 times], but fans love him. He’s a big f****. There were so many people in London, and they were all meeting with Turki. It’s nuts.

“Times Square, yes. Me and Pitbull were going to fight in many occasions. It never went down. I feel this is a fight that fans wanted for a long time until he [Pitbull Cruz] lost [to Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela on August 3rd]. I don’t think it should make no difference. He’s still an explosive fighter. Rayo boxed a great fighter, so you can’t take anything away from him either,” Garcia said

According to many, Muhammad Ali will go down as the greatest heavyweight, if not fighter, of all time.

Ali was a three-time heavyweight champion and was the undisputed ruler from 1974 to 1978. He faced the likes of Joe Frazier, Sonny Listen, and George Foreman during his 61 fight career.

His fight against Foreman, billed as ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’, is perhaps the most legendary night in all of boxing. Going into the contest as the heavy underdog, Ali showed off his famous rope-a-dope tactic until ‘Big George’ tired himself out and was stopped in the eighth round.

In his penultimate fight before hanging up the gloves Ali faced former sparring partner turned champion Larry Holmes. With Ali well past his best and, it was later revealed, medically unfit to fight, Holmes dominated from the opening bell and became the only man to stop the people’s champion from Louisville when he retired at the end of the tenth round.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Holmes believes his heavyweight record is second to none and that he, not Ali, should be considered the greatest of all time.

“Everyone said I was just a copy of Muhammad Ali, just because I idolised they guy, he hit, boxed, moved around and looked good, I like his style, I copied some of his styles, his jabs and moves and whatnot and I bettered it.

I don’t get the recognition that I should get, like a Mike Tyson. Hey listen, I had 20 title defences, Mike Tyson had three or four and lost, I was champion for seven and a half years, he was champion for seven months, they don’t want to recognise me. Ali don’t have the fight record that I have with defending the title, he didn’t hold his title for seven and a half years. Why can’t I fit in that box, why does Muhammad Ali have to be the greatest, he can say he’s the greatest, you can say he’s the greatest, but I know different, I’m the greatest.”

Aside from Ali, Holmes beat the likes of Gerry Cooney, Trevor Berbick, Earnie Shavers and Ken Norton during an incredible 75 fight career.

Frank Warren believes Oleksandr Usyk’s potential move to cruiserweight is ‘impossible’, which could hand Daniel Dubois a lifeline.

Usyk cemented his name in the heavyweight record books with a second consecutive win over Tyson Fury last month to retain his unified heavyweight titles.

The Ukrainian remains undefeated and is running out of challengers, which has led to his ambitious plan to move back down to cruiserweight and launch a new assault on the division.

JUST IN: Turki Alalshikh Sees One Opponent in Particular For Anthony Joshua

He previously reigned as an undisputed king at the lower limit before making the leap to heavyweight in 2018, but at 37-years-old it remains unclear if he physically can cope with the demands of cutting.

Should he remain at heavyweight, IBF champion Daniel Dubois is keen to rematch Usyk, in a revenge bid after being stopped by his fellow king in 2023.

‘Dyanmite’ first has to beat Joseph Parker in a tough title defence against Joseph Parker on February 22, but Usyk has already verbally agreed to take the sequel.

And Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren now believes Usyk will stay in the division, in a huge boost to the chances of the second meeting taking place.

He told Sky Sports: “He won’t. See the size of him, it’s impossible.

“You’ve only got to look at the size of him, that’s not going to happen.

“For him, the winner of Dubois vs Parker is a big fight, a massive fight.”

Warren also expects proceedings to be much different if the pair meet again.

He added: “I genuinely still believe he would have beaten Usyk if it weren’t for what was going on in his head at the time with the referee.

“All that four-minute break. He would have jumped on him. “Was it a low blow?

“I don’t think it was a low blow, some people think it was. But the bottom line of it is four minutes when he [Usyk] wanted to fight himself and the referee said take more time.

“90 per cent of it is mental. It’s taken time. He’s had a couple of hiccups on the way but you look at the fights he’s had and what he’s done – he’s learned.

“He’s a very young guy. He’s matured mentally, which is really important. He’s got the skills.

“He’s comfortable with his trainer Don Charles, who’s done a brilliant job with him and this is his time.”

Usyk has the world at his feet, but is now 37-years-old and has nothing left to prove.

Dubois believes he does, given he dropped the champion with a controversial shot which was deemed a low blow, to his disgust.

But nonetheless he was unable to put the fight to bed and Usyk had dominated for large periods of the ring exchanges.

There aren’t many challengers left on the table for the recent undisputed king.

Jai Opetaia has also called for a high-profile clash, given he currently is viewed as the best operator in the cruiserweight division.

The Australian even intends to move up to heavyweight to pursue it, but it is unclear how long Usyk will remain active for.

Back in September, Anthony Joshua was hit with the most devastating loss of his career to date when he was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois in front of a packed Wembley Stadium.

Despite ‘AJ’ now being 35 years of age and clearly in the final stages of his boxing career, he remains one of the biggest names in the heavyweight division and there are still some fun and exciting matchups left on the table for him to explore before he hangs up his gloves.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, spoke with Matchroom Boxing earlier this week and named several heavyweight stars who could be in line to face his fighter next, as it now seems unlikely that a big all-British clash with Tyson Fury is off the cards after his most recent retirement. Then, boxing financier Turki Alalshikh whittled the shortlist down to one specific opponent.

Even though Anthony Joshua was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois when they fought back in December, both ‘AJ’ and Eddie Hearn have been publicly pushing for a rematch. Despite Dubois coming away with an emphatic victory in the fight, Joshua had his moments and the fight was a great heavyweight slog and one of the most entertaining bouts in the division of 2024. A rematch between Joshua and Dubois would still undoubtedly draw huge in the UK market once again, but the latter has to get through Joseph Parker first, who will be a tough test.

Joseph Parker

Despite being consistently one of the best heavyweights in the world for the last decade, Joseph Parker is being hugely underestimated in his upcoming clash with Daniel Dubois. Parker may not be the biggest or most powerful heavyweight but he is tough, technical and hard to beat. Anthony Joshua handed the Kiwi the first loss of his professional boxing career in 2018 and there is a good chance he could attempt to get one back over Joshua if he is victorious against Dubois in February.

Martin Bakole

Martin Bakole may not be as well-known as some of the other names who have been mentioned to be in the running to face Anthony Joshua next, but the Congo native could be the most exciting matchup out of them all. Bakole, 31, is arguably the most powerful heavyweight in boxing right now but is technically very sound as well, so could be a tough matchup for the Brit. Bakole teased potentially fighting Joshua in Africa earlier this week on social media.

Could now finally be the time for Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte to rematch? The two Brits were set to fight once again in 2023 but the fight was scrapped due to a failed drugs test from Whyte. ‘The Body Snatcher’ is another fighter whom Eddie Hearn has mentioned who could face ‘AJ’ next, and it is fair to say that the hype for a rematch between the two would not be anywhere near as high as it was two years ago.

Turki Alalshikh has expressed his desire to finally make Joshua vs Wilder

Deontay Wilder

As of right now, Anthony Joshua’s most likely next opponent is Deontay Wilder. The reason why Joshua and Wilder are likely to fight each other next is due to Turki Alalshikh’s recent comments, in which he expressed his desire to get the fight made if Tyson Fury follows through with his retirement plans. Similar to his situation with Fury, Joshua and Wilder should’ve fought years ago but despite the opportunity to have both men fight each other at the peak of their powers passing, the fight would still draw and people would watch it.

It began as lighthearted banter. But the online spat between Terence Crawford and Gervonta Davis quickly escalated when the lightweight champion took swipes at the light middleweight champion’s family.

The two fighters may not have shared the best relationship, but many fans believe this latest squabble crossed the line. The drama began when Gervonta Davis, upset over not receiving an invitation to the high-profile Ring Awards, launched a series of rants online. These outbursts soon caught Crawford’s attention, prompting him to respond with a taunt. “I see somebody mad they wasn’t invited to the @ringmagazine gala.😂😂,” Crawford remarked on X.

One reply led to another, and the fallout eventually spiraled into a heated debate about finances. Both fighters traded claims about earning more than the other. The exchange even drew input from a few pundits. That was until an unkind remark from Gervonta Davis regarding Bud Crawford’s wife took the squabble past a point of no return. However, shifting the focus to his personal growth and positive changes, Crawford, the more seasoned of the two, eventually opted for a more measured approach.

Terence Crawford Gervonta Davis

JUST IN: Tyson Fury set for showdown talks over immediate retirement U-turn

Reflecting on his personal growth, Terence Crawford expressed gratitude for the changes that have shaped his life. “I’m glad I’m not the man I once used to be. Growth is a blessing, because some people don’t change when better days is right in front of them,” he expressed in his latest post. Perhaps the allusion to Gervonta Davis could have been more clear.

But a brief look at some of the fan reactions may seem to suggest so. For instance, this fan advised Crawford not to take Davis’ comments too seriously. They said, “Trying to knock you off your pivot, goat; time to take another division. Don’t worry about the youngster.” Another fan questioned, “Why are you conversing with absolute clowns?” Maybe Crawford had been wasting his time and energy engaging in what could be a pointless feud.

Interestingly, over a year ago, shortly after defeating Errol Spence Jr., Crawford received a bold callout from none other than Gervonta Davis. The lightweight champion at the time claimed he was ready to face the newly crowned undisputed champion. True to his characteristic maturity, Crawford welcomed the challenge—but with a caveat.

Perhaps it will take some time for the disputes between Crawford and Davis to settle. Weighing in on the matter through his tweets, boxing insider Rick Glaser also pointed out Gervonta Davis’ rude comments about Terence Crawford’s family, calling the move ‘classless.’ “Very low by Tank Davis @Gervontaa, bringing Terence Crawford’s @terencecrawford family into it, you never ever bring family into it. EVER!!! Classless move,” noted the insider emphatically. The same sentiment was also reflected in a user’s comment on Crawford’s latest post. The fan remarked, “Growth is key 🔑 proud to see you represent Nebraska with so much class.”

Despite ‘Tank’ Davis’ confidence, the reality remains that a fight between two of the biggest names in boxing is highly unlikely. Beyond the significant weight differences, their future plans make such a clash even less feasible. Davis has already hinted at retiring from boxing by the end of this year. Crawford, on the other hand, appears to be gearing up for a potential showdown with Canelo Alvarez.

Regardless of their legacies or the wealth they’ve amassed, the truth remains that both Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford hold significant importance for fans. These future Hall of Famers have already achieved so much in their careers that online bickering only tarnishes their reputations. As some have suggested, maybe it’s time for both to move on and let bygones be bygones.

Turki Alalshikh reveals he intends to hold talks with Tyson Fury about potentially reversing his decision to retire from the sport of boxing.

The two-time heavyweight champion took to social media on Monday confirming his decision to hang up the gloves. “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet,” he said. “I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it. And I’m going to end with this… Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody see you on the other side. Get up!”

His decision comes just a few weeks after suffering a second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. Despite back-to-back losses against the Ukrainian, many were hoping to see an all-British heavyweight showdown between Fury and Anthony Joshua this year. However, those ambitions have now seemingly been scuppered.

Speaking to Jim White & Simon Jordan on talkSPORT, Alalshikh was disappointed with Fury’s decision to retire, but understand why he’s decided to call it a day: “First of all, this kind of decision has to be from the fighters,” he said. “It must be whatever they are thinking if they have something to give or not. As a fan of boxing, I don’t like it. We want to see Tyson in more big fights, but I can understand his decision. But over time this decision can change.”

The Saudi boxing chief was then quizzed about whether or not he’ll hold talks with the ‘Gypsy King’ over a possible retirement U-turn, to which he responded: “Yes, of course. But a lot of rumours don’t help us. No-one will propose £500 million for a fight, these numbers are incorrect.”

Just two days on from his retirement announcement, Fury was spotted for the first time and appeared to be in good spirits. The 36-year-old was seen at a petrol station in Lancashire, clutching a can of Monster energy drink before entering his vehicle. Reacting to the recent announcement, the Brit’s long-time promoter Frank Warren has urged his star client to “enjoy” his retirement.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: “God bless him, that’s what he wants to do. That’s great. I mean he’s done everything he can do. He’s probably been the best British heavyweight of his generation by far. Two-time world champion, and two closely fought fights against Usyk. He’s got plenty of money, he’s got his wits about him, he’s got a lovely family. So God bless him, let him enjoy it.”

While many believe that Fury will opt against fighting again, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn insists that Fury’s announcement is simply a negotiating tactic regarding the potential clash with ‘AJ’. “I’m not going to accuse him of not being genuine but I think you get a better deal coming out of retirement or maybe he just hasn’t got the stomach for it anymore,” he said. “He got beat twice and has had enough. I doubt it but who knows. I don’t know him well enough to know but maybe he’s done.

“My gut feeling is we see AJ against Fury this summer. But, maybe he’s for real. I cannot believe that he would check out without doing that fight. But if he genuinely isn’t enjoying it anymore, he should retire.”

Dmitry Bivol was the last man to beat Canelo Alvarez inside a boxing ring.

They met back in May 2022, with Canelo stepping up to 175lbs as he looked to once again claim world honours in the light heavyweight division.

It wasn’t to be though, as Bivol won the fight by unanimous decision, becoming just the second man after Floyd Mayweather to overcome the Mexican superstar.

Dmitry Bivol Reveals ‘The Only Mistake’ Canelo Makes That Terence Crawford Can Exploit

Since that bout, Bivol went on to face Artur Beterbiev in an undisputed showdown in October, suffering a narrow defeat, with a rematch taking place next month.

As for Canelo, he returned to super-middleweight and made several defences of his world titles, and now looks to be on a collision course with fellow pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford.

The fight would see Crawford moving up several weight divisions, with some fans worried that it could prove to be a bridge too far for the former undisputed super-lightweight and welterweight champion.

Crawford disagrees, and may be interested to hear what mistakes Bivol felt Canelo made following their meeting nearly three years ago.

Speaking in the aftermath of his victory, Bivol explained exactly what Alvarez did wrong to potentially cost him the bout.

“He has good speed and good power. Maybe his mistake is he throws only hard punches. After hard punches he relaxes and he’s tired.”

Time will tell whether the same issue happens again for Canelo when the Crawford fight reportedly happens later this year, and the only man that has fought both boxers professionally, Amir Khan, has given his prediction for the bout.

Turki Alalshikh wants Moses Itauma to face Oleksandr Usyk before the current unified heavyweight world champion retires.

Usyk is the current unified champion after defending his belt successfully in a rematch with Tyson Fury last month, and he remains unbeaten.

At the age of 37, the Ukrainian hasn’t got many fights left with retirement looming, but he is expected to return to the squared circle.

READ: Oleksandr Usyk Has Finally Revealed Who He Will Fight Next After Beating Tyson Fury Twice

For Usyk, there are not many challengers remaining with a potential undisputed rematch against Daniel Dubois potentially on the table.

But when naming a dream fight for the Ukrainian, Saudi boxing chief Alalshikh identified young prodigy Itauma as a potential opponent.

“If we have time, I would love to see Itauma vs Usyk,” Alalshikh said on White & Jordan.

“But only if we have time. It will depend if Usyk retires.”

Itauma came into the sport with huge ambitions of breaking Mike Tyson’s famous record as the youngest-ever heavyweight world champion at the age of 20.

The Briton has just four months to complete the record, meaning it looks increasingly unlikely.

His only realistic shot at a belt could be for the WBA ‘regular’ title against Kubrat Pulev, which would not be for a full ‘super’ version of the world belt.

But Alalshikh still wants to see the record broken.

He added: “I still want to see Itauma be the youngest ever heavyweight world champion.

“I heard information about his sparring with Dubois, and the information is amazing.

“He can be the biggest talent in Britain and around the world.”

The 20-year-old looks to have narrowly missed out on the record, but still seems right on course for a destined path to the pinnacle of the division.

Usyk stands in his way for now, with the Ukrainian yet to be beaten by a star-studded list of names including Fury and Anthony Joshua.

It is expected he will first take a break from the sport before deciding who to select as his next opponent later in 2025.

But British heavyweight Frazer Clarke would now like to see the current champion retire after a sensational run.

Clarke told talkSPORT: “I wouldn’t mind seeing Usyk hang the gloves up, I don’t know who else he goes on to prove or do anything.

“But do I want to see Fury vs AJ? Absolutely and I’m a Brit and a big boxing fan.

“But with Usyk, I’m not sure who even gets him out of bed now. He’s beaten AJ, Fury and Dubois.

“They are the top dogs. Is there any point going and fighting Deontay Wilder?

“He’s not in great form as the other big name, so I would like to see Usyk sail into the sunset now.

“Yeah he’s one of the greatest to have ever done it to be honest.”

The Terence Crawford–Gervonta Davis online spat recently took an ugly turn.

The duo has been at loggerheads ever since Davis sided with his friend Errol Spence Jr against Crawford during their rivalry leading up to their July 2023 bout, trading barbs and taunts. Though Spence and Tank later parted ways, the anger between Davis and Bud still lingers.

The rivalry recently escalated when the organizers of the prestigious Ring Magazine Awards did not invite the Baltimore native to their high-profile event in London. While the entire boxing royalty was present at the ceremony, Tank, who has had a problematic past with the Riyadh Season head HE Turki Alalshikh, showcased his anger and indifference to the event.

Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford Clash Online Over Boxing and Money

JUST IN: Deontay Wilder Is Back! With Opponent Confirmed, The Bronze Bomber’ Signs For April Comeback Fight

Terence Crawford saw this as a perfect opportunity. He sneakily mocked the WBA lightweight champion on his X stating, “I see somebody mad they wasn’t invited to the @ringmagazine gala.😂😂. This was enough to result in a back-and-forth that has now reached a boiling point as Gervonta Davis dragged Bud’s wife, Alindra Person, into their spat.

After Crawford’s first post, Tank ripped into him with a retort, “And I still make more than you.” And soon it was off to the races with each trying to one-up the other with their insult. The WBA lightweight champion, in another post taking a dig at Bud, added again, “Yalll think he chasing greatness.he’s not that’s what he have to do to make decent money.” This seems to have angered the two-division undisputed champion.

Terence Crawford immediately responded on X: “By the way little guy, don’t speak too son because you definitely not making more than me fight who you been fighting. That’s why you talking about fighting Ryan again.” This seems to have hit a nerve as Gervonta Davis went on a tirade of several X posts which, like always, he seems to have deleted soon after.

This series of insults on X is what culminated in his last post. Though it looks like he deleted the post later, boxing insider, Rick Glaser shared a screengrab of the post while calling out Davis for what Glaser considered a “classless move” on Gervonta Davis’ part. “Very low by Tank Davis @Gervontaa, bringing Terence Crawford’s @terencecrawford family into it, you never ever bring family into it. EVER!!! Classless move,” wrote Glaser in a bold rebuke.

For those wondering, the post from Gervonta Davis that seems to have triggered Glaser, read, “And he got like 8 kids and his wife like 380 lbs..yea buddy gotta work overtime..🤣.” For anyone reading it, it is easy to understand why Rick Glaser felt the move was a low blow of sorts.

While there has been a rivalry between the duo, so far, it has been restricted to them and their boxing careers. However, with this move, it has taken a personal turn and there might be no coming back.

For a quick tour of the history of their rivalry, shortly after securing the undisputed welterweight title from his friend Spence Jr, Bud heard that Gervonta Davis had claimed he could beat him at 147 lbs. The Nebraskan wasn’t too fond of the comments and took a dig at Tank, indirectly challenging him to a fight.

While speaking on ‘The Breakfast Club’ in August 2023, Crawford declared, “And if he comes up to 147 thinking, he’s just gonna knock Terence Crawford out, he’s got another thing coming,” and issued a warning to the Baltimore native. However, even then Bud had respect for the 30-year-old and he acknowledged Davis’ prowess in the ring.

While it is still hard to fathom how these two will collide in the ring considering Crawford is chasing the Canelo Alvarez fight and Davis remains focused on the Lamont Roach Jr fight in March. This personal turn will be financially consequential to them in the lead-up to their respective fights. As we all know, Terence Crawford is not someone who takes these digs lightly.
