Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather looks safe, knowing that his best retirement record of 50-0 is no longer under attack.

As World Boxing News reported a few years into Mayweather hanging up his gloves, threats to his benchmark were coming from all angles. However, due to many of today’s top stars losing bouts and a new wave of the best facing the best, Mayweather will likely hold an insurmountable target.

It hasn’t been all plain sailing for Mayweather, though. He actually lost the record to Wanheng Menayothin, as the Thai superstar went 54-0 before un-retiring and losing three bouts between 2020 and 2022.

At the time of Wanheng’s demise, there were still a few undefeated champions around who could beat Mayweather if they stepped up the pace. Heavyweight Tyson Fury was 35-0-1 until his loss against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia. Usyk dominated ‘The Gypsy King’ during Riyadh Season in May and bids to do it again later this month.

Usyk himself is out of the running because the Ukrainian is on the wrong side of his thirties and only 22-0. The unified top division ruler turned pro late in the game due to his exceptional amateur run.

Similarly, Dmitry Bivol was too far away from the marker when suffering his maiden defeat to Artur Beterbiev in October. Naoya Inoue is 28-0 at 31 and is also considered out of the running.

Errol Spence Jr. was 28-0 and, at one point, had a chance. His career has since stalled after Terence Crawford stopped him. Crawford is the closest to Mayweather at present. However, his lack of activity in taking only one fight per year would also push him out of the reckoning at 41-0.

At 22-0 and 27 years of age, Shakur Stevenson is the first titleholder with a decade in his locker to reach Mayweather. Again, Stevenson is yet another new breed of fighter who isn’t active enough.

Then come another of Mayweather’s proteges, Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney. Davis is 30-0 at 30 but is slipped into the same timescale as Stevenson and Crawford with his events. Despite being dominated by Ryan Garcia, Haney is 31-0 at 26, and looking at his record in the cold light of day, he could conceivably reach Mayweather if it wasn’t for his obvious flaws.

Others, like Rey Vargas, Jaime Munguia, and Gilberto Ramirez, lost when hovering under and above the 40-0 range. David Benavidez still has his ‘0’ intact as he heads into a massive fight with David Morrell next year. Benavidez is 29-0 at 27 and – at this point, is the most significant dangerman to Mayweather.

A few years ago, Floyd Mayweather would undoubtedly have been worried. But with the emergence of Turki Alalshikh pulling the boxing strings, it could take a miracle for Mayweather to lose his spot ahead of 49-0 Rocky Marciano.

Mayweather has been active in the exhibition boxing scene since retirement, fighting both Conor McGregor and Logan Paul

IShowSpeed, the popular Twitch streamer known for his wild challenges to professional athletes, has set his sights on one of boxing’s all-time greats: Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Following his numerous antics, including racing sprinter Noah Lyles, taking on WWE’s Randy Orton, and sparring with Manny PacquiaoIShowSpeed is now eyeing an exhibition match against the undefeated former world champion.

In a recent interview with NFL legend Shannon Sharpe, IShowSpeed discussed the possibility of fighting Mayweather. When asked if he would face the boxing icon in an exhibition bout, the 18-year-old didn’t hesitate.

“Yes,” he responded confidently.

Floyd Mayweather

“I believe, but I’m a Manny Pacquiao fan. I think Manny Pacquiao is the GOAT in boxing, in my opinion… I take Manny over Floyd.”

Despite his admiration for Pacquiao, IShowSpeed was still excited by the idea of facing MayweatherSharpe, eager to stir up the conversation, quickly called on Mayweather to make the match happen.

Floyd, make it happen,” Sharpe urged, while IShowSpeed followed up with a direct challenge.

Floyd, hey Floyd, you don’t want the work either, bro. I promise you, Floyd. 6 months, let’s go.”

IShowSpeed would be ready to face Mayweather within six months

IShowSpeed remained firm in his intentions, stating that if Mayweather’s team reached out for a potential match, he would be ready to go.

Floyd Mayweather Bet Against Isaac Cruz

“100%,” he confirmed, adding that he had been looking forward to an opportunity like this for a long time.

Sharpe, recalling Mayweather’s previous exhibition fight with Logan Paul, seemed to hint that the 50-0 champ might consider a challenge from IShowSpeed.

IShowSpeed acknowledged the possibility but expressed doubt about Mayweather taking up the offer, suggesting that Floyd may be “scared” of facing him.

Conor McGregor produced one of his most ruthless performances before entering ‘The Money Fight’ against 11-time boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather.

When they collided back in 2017, the pair generated more than $600 million in revenue for their monumental crossover event, cementing themselves as two of the world’s highest paid athletes.

Not only that, but Floyd Mayweather reportedly secured a staggering $300 million payday, while Conor McGregor came away with around $100 million following his tenth-round stoppage defeat.

Still, McGregor’s UFC career was unquestionably on an upwards trajectory before his harsh boxing lesson arrived at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.

Conor McGregor dispatches Eddie Alvarez with lethal second-round finish

‘The Notorious’ claimed the UFC featherweight title with a destructive second-round knockout over Chad Mendes, before defending his crown against MMA legend Jose Aldo in 2015.

Sure enough, McGregor outshone his previous display with an even more emphatic finish, halting Aldo within 13 seconds of their contest.

As he then stepped up to face seasoned veteran Nate Diaz at lightweight, though, the Irishman was ultimately forced to tap in a shocking upset defeat.

However, he swiftly exacted his revenge in their immediate rematch before stepping into the cage with Eddie Alvarez, the reigning 155 lb king, in 2016.

This was where McGregor’s UFC career truly reignited, with Alvarez – fresh off his first-round knockout victory over Rafael Dos Anjos – standing in his way of reaching legendary status.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is making significant moves in the real estate sector.

As previously reported by AFROTECH™,  the boxing world champion has invested $402 million in an affordable housing project in New York, which includes over 60 buildings with more than 1,000 units

“Growing up, I used to dream about owning just one home by myself, when you work hard you can achieve anything,” Mayweather told TMZ.

Mayweather’s investments in real estate also include ownership of nine skyscrapers in New York through a partnership with SL Green.

Floyd Mayweather Jr

“‘You see that building right there? Yeah, we own that. You see this building? We own it.’ So we was walking and walking. Then he said, ‘You know, a boxer makes money when he’s boxing. A football player makes money when he’s playing football. A basketball player makes money when he’s playing basketball.’ He said, ‘But New York real estate, you make money when you sleep.’”

On Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, Mayweather also invested in a $10 billion office portfolio currently owned by 601W Companies. That same week, he purchased a stake in Villa Casa Casuarina in Miami Beach.

More recently, Mayweather launched the real estate firm Vada Properties and announced plans to invest $100 million in equity through the venture. This investment will go into a $3 billion luxury rental portfolio in partnership with Go Partners. The portfolio consists of collaborations with Meyer Orbach, chairman of Orbach Affordable Housing Solutions, and Josh Gotlib, co-founder of Black Spruce Management.

Mayweather has reportedly already transferred $20 million.

“Meyer and Josh are two of the smartest investors I have ever met,” Mayweather said in a statement, according to The Real Deal. “I am thrilled to be their partner on their trophy assets.”

Orbach added, “Whatever the opportunities are, we’re going to do them together.”

Gotlib commented, “Floyd shares our view that NYC offers a one-of-a-kind investment opportunity in both affordable and luxury housing.”

Floyd Mayweather, 47, said he’d welcome a real fight with Jake Paul under one condition — it would have to be at his own weight, rather than Paul’s, who recently took on Mike Tyson in a sad, heavyweight boxing spectacle.

Floyd Mayweather Jake Paul
Fights 50 12
Wins 50 11
Losses 0 1

Paul, 27, boxed for the 12th time of his burgeoning career when, on Friday the 15th of November, he went 8 x 2-minute rounds with a 58-year-old Tyson at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. During the fight, there were two rounds in which Tyson failed to land a single punch. Paul, by contrast, appeared to daze Tyson a couple times, before taking his foot off the gas, and coasting toward a decision win.

Jake Paul

Numerous boxers at the elite level, including Artur Beterbiev and Daniel Dubois, have sent fight offers to Paul should he take on a real boxer. And Mayweather, too, has seemingly gotten in line.

Mayweather talked to TMZ Sports about Paul’s rise, and a possible bout between the internet sensation, and boxing’s pound-for-pound stalwart Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

“If you go back, you’ve got to look on the internet and do your homework, I think [Jake] was doing a podcast one time, and he was talking about, ‘I don’t want to do an exhibition against Floyd Mayweather,’ he said’‘I’m only doing real fights’,” said Mayweather.

Mayweather commented on the significant weight differential between them now. Paul boxes between cruiserweight, which has an upper limit of 200 pounds, and heavyweight. Mayweather, meanwhile, fought at welterweight in his latter days, which has a limit of 147 pounds.

“Of course, I can’t get high up in weight,” he said.

“I’d fight him in a real fight in the weight that I’m at.”

Mayweather continued: “But Jake Paul, I mean as of right now, for what he’s doing, it’s good for what he’s doing, but once he fights a real actual fighter, it’s gonna be bad. One thing I do like about him, he’s selling it and he’s making good money and he’s entertaining, I like it.”

It is unclear who Paul could fight next, but he’s had call-outs from numerous big name boxers — both active, and retired. There are fighters who Paul has spoken of frequently in the past, including Conor McGregor and Canelo. And Mayweather believes if ever Paul and Canelo did fight, the result would be clear.

“He’d get f***** up by Canelo. There’s no way [that he’d win] he’d get demolished.”

Mayweather and Paul have history as Floyd boxed Paul’s brother Logan in an exhibition in Miami Gardens in 2021. As it was an exhibition, no official winner could be declared.

The build-up to Floyd and Logan’s exhibition, though, was marked by a confrontation when Jake snatched Mayweather’s hat from his head, and said: “Gotcha hat,” before running away. Mayweather could then be seen and heard storming the hallways of the Hard Rock Stadium and made threats when searching for Paul.

A few years ago, Jake Paul created a huge fiasco when he stole Floyd Mayweather‘s cap.

The incident happened in 2021 during the press event of Mayweather’s exhibition fight against Logan Paul. During the face-off, The Problem Child grabbed Money’s cap in a move of utter disrespect.

Three years later, the wheels have turned, and Jake Paul is standing in the same boat. After his victory against Mike Tyson, El Gallo went on to greet the fans. Out of nowhere, a random fan from the crowd removed Paul’s cap and threw it away. This incident left the fans chuckling as they enjoyed the former YouTuber being teased by the crowd.

The viral clip uploaded by ESPN Ring Side features Jake Paul going up to the crowd to meet the fans. The 27-year-old was giving an autograph to one of his fans. That is when a person behind the crowd stole the cap from Paul’s head and threw it away. Contrasting to the expectations, The Problem Child silently walked away and picked up his cap without creating any problem. This was not something that anyone expected, as Paul is known for his problematic behavior.

However, this incident has stark similarities to the time when El Gallo showed Money the same disrespect. A month before the Mayweather and Logan Paul scheduled fight, the duo came face-to-face for a news conference. During the event, the boxing hall-of-fame got into an argument with Jake Paul and called both Pauls “fake fighters.” Not only that, Pretty Boy even stated  “I’m willing to fight both in the same night.”

These comments riled up the 11-1 boxer, and he grabbed Mayweather’s baseball cap from his head. The security had to intervene immediately as the 50-0 boxer started charging towards Paul. Jake Paul took the trolling to the next level as he posted himself getting a tattoo of “gotcha hat” on his leg.

This disrespect to one of the most adored boxers of all time did not sit well with the fans. And now after 3 years, when karma struck and a similar incident happened with Jake Paul, they were not going to sit idly.

A fan wrote, “Bro getting bullied by the crowd 😂💀,” stating how helpless Jake Paul was in front of the crowd. The Problem Child was arrogant in front of Mayweather, but when the same thing happened to him, he was not able to do anything.

Another user wrote, “I watched this fight illegally, and I still want my refund 😭,” implying that the quality of the fight was not up to the standards. Many fans switched towards illegal streams during the event, as Netflix streams were lagging and buffering quite frequently.

Another user who was not a big fan of The Problem Child wrote, “Shoutout to that man!” who threw away the cap. The disrespect shown by Paul to the legends is not well received at all amongst the boxing fandom and it has made El Gallo quite a hated figure.

Another user who was enjoying the incident wrote, “Bro went to get the hat… he’s basically playing Fetch,” stating that Paul should have said something to the person rather than quietly going and picking up the cap again.

Amidst the sea of criticism, there was one fan who acknowledged Jake Paul’s marketing skills and wrote, “dude really said canelo needs him for a payday😂 jake definitely knows how to get people talking about him.”

After his victory against Mike Tyson, El Gallo called out Canelo Alvarez and stated, “Canelo needs me. I’m not even gonna call him out. He knows he wants a payday and he knows where the money man’s at.” He implied that this victory has elevated him so much that even the “face of boxing” needs him now. After all, no one can pay Canelo more than MVP and Jake Paul.

Lightweight prospect Keyshawn Davis is coming off a dominant 2nd round knockout win over Gustavo Lemos.

He dropped the Argentinian opponent three times in the 2nd round before getting his hand raised in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia. Since the fight, Davis has revealed details about his post-fight calls with five-division champion Floyd Mayweather on social media.

‘Money’ Mayweather retired from the sport in 2017 following his win over former UFC champion Conor McGregor. However, his relationship with boxing didn’t end there. He has been guiding several boxers through the pro ranks and into stardom. Regardless, since Keyshawn’s post on Instagram about the call with Mayweather, Gervonta Davis seems to have gotten caught in the crossfire, as fans share their opinion.

Earlier today, 25-year-old undefeated lightweight Keyshawn Davis took to Instagram to reveal insights into his post-fight conversations with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. “It’s crazy, Floyd calls me after every fight just to discuss my performance. Not only is he the GOAT, but he’s also a real mentor,” Davis wrote while sharing a screenshot of his FaceTime conversation with ‘Money.’ Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, who once fought under Mayweather’s promotional banner, departed from the promotion in May 2022, citing a desire to promote his own fights. However, tensions between them had been apparent for some time, as the two frequently clashed on and off social media.

In more recent times, the Davis duo has been clashing on social media. Before Keyshawn’s fight earlier this week, the 25-year-old was taking shots at ‘Tank,’ with the latter firing back on X. So, given their newfound animosity against each other, people started speculating a fight could be on the horizon.

In what appears to be an attempt to fan the flames, Keyshawn Davis shared details about his phone call with Mayweather. It’s also worth mentioning that the legendary boxer was previously pushing for a fight between ‘Tank’ and WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, but that never ended up happening.

Davis is currently slated to fight Lamont Roach sometime in January next year, but no location or specific date has been revealed as of the time of writing. That said, Keyshawn’s post today seems to have been enough to send fans into a frenzy.

Even though ‘The Businessman’ never mentioned Gervonta Davis in his post, fans were quick to rope in the WBO lightweight champion. One user implied Keyshawn’s post was a direct jab at ‘Tank.’ “Y’all love making tank mad for some reason😂😂💯,” the user wrote. However, it’s difficult to say whether Gervonta Davis even cares about such a thing.

Another user felt Floyd Mayweather may have pushed Keyshawn to start the feud with ‘Tank.’ “Now we know why you beefing wit tank 😂,” the user commented. Despite their beef, it’s unclear whether this will spill over into a full-blown fight.

Meanwhile, this user thought Keyshawn’s post about Mayweather was genuine. “I can definitely tell he been mentoring you with your defense in the fight. You barely got touched and counter punches were 🔒,” the user wrote. However, why would a rising boxer wait so long to announce his affiliation with one of boxing’s biggest stars when he could have done it earlier to attract more attention?

Someone else alleged that Floyd Mayweather was the one stirring up trouble for Gervonta Davis.“Floyd sending everybody after Tank 😂,” commented the user. Well, he has done this in the past. Why not now?

The next user proposed Keyshawn should fight someone else. “Fight Andy Cruz what makes u think u going to get fight before shakur smh,” the user wrote. However, it appears neither of them are getting the fight against Gervonta Davis. Having said that, the post from Keyshawn Davis seems to have failed to make people buy into the whole post-fight discussion with Floyd Mayweather. Instead, the prevailing sentiment seems to be that it was a clear dig at Gervonta Davis.

Legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather paid a visit to Israel’s Belev Echad rehabilitation center, offering encouragement and support to soldiers wounded in the ongoing war.

This is Mayweather’s fourth visit to the country since the war began, showcasing his commitment to those recovering from their wounds.

Belev Echad, the organization behind the rehabilitation center in Kiryat Ono, provides critical medical care, emotional support, and long-term rehabilitation services for soldiers severely wounded in battle. Mayweather, known globally for his undefeated record of 50-0 and world titles in five different weight classes, spent time with the soldiers, delivering words of encouragement and solidarity.

Addressing the soldiers on Monday, Mayweather expressed his admiration for their bravery and resilience.

“I see so many bright faces, so many beautiful people. You guys are brave warriors. I take my hat off to everyone in here that goes on that battlefield.” He emphasized teamwork and perseverance, adding, “You guys are team players. I’m proud of you all. Hold your heads up high, and just know every day is a blessing. You guys are true heroes and warriors, and I’m behind you 100%. I’ll be back, and you guys have my support.”

Moti Fried, who accompanied the boxing icon, expressed awe at Mayweather’s dedication, saying, “It’s simply unbelievable that he drops everything and comes here for the fourth time. He’s a legend in his field, and his love for Israel and the Jewish people is something truly exceptional.”

The founders of Belev Echad, Rabbi Uriel and Shevy Vigler, voiced their gratitude for Mayweather’s visit. “Floyd’s support and compassion mean the world to these soldiers,” Rabbi Vigler noted. “His visit lifts their spirits and reminds them that people across the globe are standing with them.” Vigler added, “Floyd’s connection to our soldiers speaks volumes. His presence here brings hope and a renewed sense of strength to those who have sacrificed so much for Israel.”

Manny Pacquiao looks set to match a feat rival Floyd Mayweather managed in 2020 as a planned comeback gets shelved for his political career.

Like all retired legends, Pacquiao is on the International Boxing Hall of Fame ballot three years after his last professional contest. Mayweather took his honor in 2020, becoming a first-ballot Hall of Famer after retiring following his clash with Conor McGregor in 2017.

When boxing media and personnel cast their votes, the ‘Pac-Man’ will undoubtedly be voted into the lucrative boxing archive in Canastota, New York. This scenario would be the earliest opportunity for the eight-weight world champion. The impending induction would potentially mean Pacquiao ends his career after months of trying to nail down a title shot swansong.

As World Boxing News broke exclusively, Pacquiao wanted to fight Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title. The pair held talks, but ultimately, the fight stalled, and Barrios moved on to fight on Paul vs Tyson on November 15

Speaking to WBN earlier this month, MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons hadn’t given up hope. However, with Pacquiao’s political career resuming in May, any other fights are unlikely.

“Let’s see what happens [with Barrios after his fight on the Mike Tyson undercard],” Gibbons told WBN. “We are running out of a little time as ‘Sir Manny’ declared his candidacy for the Senate in 2025. So he’s tied up from February to May 11, when the election is.

“But, anything can happen – after. For sure, that’s [the Barrios title chance], but it is still the fight.”

A confirmed rematch with Floyd Mayweather also looks to have bitten the dust due to only ten weeks remaining until the scheduled return. It would be impossible for Mayweather and Pacquiao to live up to their 2023 promise to fight on a RIZIN bill this New Year’s Eve. Pacquiao took to a RIZIN show to make it official before Mayweather revealed he’d made money simply from the announcement.

Since then, the entire notion of Mayweather vs Pacquiao II has gone silent.

The IBHOF recently named Vinny Pazienza, Nigel Benn, Joel Casamayor, Chris Eubank, Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, Antonio Tarver, Mikkel Kessler, and Shinsuke Yamanaka as other Hall of Fame hopefuls.

Pacquiao’s name will be on the list for induction in 2025, barring a significant development.

Is a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather rematch really in the works?

There’s been an uptick of chatter recently regarding the fight, but no clear indication that anyone is close to signing a contract.

What we do have, however, is Conor McGregor’s word that talks are ongoing, to the point where discussions on weight and rounds are being had.

“You know, there is conversations ongoing,” McGregor told Spanish news outlet Marca. “I fought Floyd at 153 pounds, which is a low weight. So he brought me all the way down. It was over 12 rounds. I’d never fought 12 rounds. Now the discussion is: at my weight, higher, heavy weight. 170 pounds. And maybe less rounds. So … I would fancy it.”

As for how he perceives the first fight to have gone?

“I had him bent over!” McGregor declared. “You see me I had him bent over. What more do you want me to do? Do you want me to finish the job while I have him bent over?”

McGregor did look decent through the first couple of rounds against Mayweather, forcing the boxing legend to turn his back at one point so the ref would step in and slow the action down. For his part, Mayweather claims he carried Mac through the fight before turning up the heat his gassed opponent. Both have said a rematch will happen, but neither seems in any rush to make it happen next.

All of this sounds promising, but these days “The Notorious” is in entrepreneurial overdrive. There’s not a weekend where he isn’t out there hawking a new product or Bare Knuckle FC event. He clearly wants to fight … but is under contract with the UFC, who seem in no rush to get him back in the cage.

Would UFC loan him out for a boxing event at some insane price tag? Maybe, if it means they still get to keep him on a leash with the two fights left on his UFC contract.

Whatever happens, McGregor claims he’s cool with it.

“I don’t need,” he said. “I am so blessed by God. I don’t need nothing. I don’t need. I have, but I’d like a fight.”
