Gervonta Davis is undefeated in 30 fights, but pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford believes he will be handed his first loss should he step in with one of two men.

‘Tank’ has scored 28 knockouts in his campaign so far, stopping the likes of Ryan Garcia, Frank Martin, Mario Barrios and Leo Santa Cruz. The southpaw from Baltimore is next out on March 1 against Lamont Roach Jr to defend his WBA Lightweight World Title.

Should he come through as expected, fans will once again call for Davis to take on a fellow champion in a unification bout. With Vasiliy Lomachenko out on the sidelines, his two options are Shakur Stevenson or Keyshawn Davis.

JUST IN: Gervonta Davis Calls Out Retired World Champion For ‘Dream Fight’

Speaking to FightHype, Crawford said that both men beat ‘Tank.’

“Whoever. I told Tank. Tank knows what’s up. He knows what he’s up against when he fights Shakur or Keyshawn. He wanna fight these guys that everybody in the world knows ain’t gonna give him no fight. They’re not mentally there. They might have a little skill here and there, but mentally-wise they’re not gonna be able to keep it up that whole fight. Them two guys right there [Shakur and Keyshawn] is gonna be the ones that give him his first L.”

Stevenson holds the WBC belt and will defend it later this month against Floyd Schofield. He has long called for the ‘Tank’ fight, however talks have broken down before getting anywhere.

Keyshawn Davis is the division’s newest champion, having defeated Ukrain’s Denys Berinchyk this weekend in New York to snatch the WBO strap.

The fourth round body-shot stoppage saw Keyshawn cement himself as one of the top dogs on the lightweight scene and he made quick time of calling out ‘Tank’ post-fight.

A major sticking point for either fight is that Gervonta says he will retire at the end of 2025, although he recently stated that he may just ‘take a break.’

Gervonta Davis shocked the boxing world when he revealed he plans to retire.

‘Tank’ returns to action in March when he defends his WBA lightweight title against Lamont Roach, but during the launch press conference for the fight, Davis announced he will hang up the gloves at the end of 2025.

The American stated he came to the decision as he planned to focus on his family and wanted to get therapy in order to control his anger.

‘Tank’ has reigned at super-featherweight, lightweight and super-lightweight during his career, putting together an undefeated record of 30-0 with 28 knockouts.

He has claimed victories against the likes of Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Rolly Romero and Frank Martin during his career, but there are plenty of big names that boxing fans still want to see Davis in the ring against.

‘Tank’ is yet to meet long-term rival and WBC champion Shakur Stevenson or IBF champion Vasiliy Lomachenko, with the announcement of his retirement potentially ending any hope of seeing those fights.

It seems that boxing fans have been given a lifeline though, as Davis has now revealed to A Safe Place Podcast that he no longer plans to retire permanently.

“Yeah I’ve been having those thoughts [on changing my mind]. I want to get myself together. I really want to get myself together. Not retire but take a break … I ain’t gonna lie, I already made a promise to Al [Haymon] we out of it … There’s stuff I need to work on, like being there for my kids, going to school, building myself up as a person, as a great human being.”

It looks like a promise set to be broken, as when asked if there is more to come after the Roach fight, Davis was defiant in his response.

“There’s definitely some more heads I got to put on a wall.”

The U-turn from Davis could now pave the way for the clash against Stevenson, who returns to action himself on February 22 when he defends his belt against Floyd Schofield.

Many top figures from the boxing world have already offered their thoughts on how a clash between ‘Tank’ and Stevenson would go, with Canelo Alvarez one of those who has his prediction.

Gervonta Davis has left the door wide open for a rematch against former rival Ryan Garcia.

After an entertaining build-up, ‘Tank’ Davis clashed with Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in April 2023 at a catchweight of 136lbs – something Garcia said hindered his performance massively. Albeit a non-title bout, the contest attracted over 1 million pay-per-view buys and a gate of reportedly over $20 million.

Davis pulled off a routine performance to add the first blemish to Garcia’s unbeaten record, dropping him twice on his way to a seventh round stoppage victory. It was the 29th straight professional win for the 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland who has picked up the WBA lightweight title since.

Garcia is currently serving a 1-year suspension from boxing after he tested positive for Ostarine in the lead-up to his bout against Devin Haney last year. The 26-year-old is due to return to the ring in May against Rolando Romero.

Speaking to ES News, ‘Tank’ discussed a potential rematch with Garcia and he outlined the one condition for it to take place.

“Yeah [it’s a massive fight]. But not at 143, why 143? Probably at 140, that’s the next weight class up from 135, it’s the weight class he fights at.

“Let’s do 140 and he can rehydrate back up to 150, or the most 152, I’m 135 brother.”

The one issue with the condition, and despite Garcia being particularly keen to get a second crack at ‘Tank’, is that he will face Romero at the welterweight limit and likely not come back down.

Davis returns to the ring on March 1 as he takes on Lamont Roach at the Barclays Center in New York City. In a shock revelation towards the end of 2024, the 30-year-old claimed he could walk away from the sport at the end of 2025 as he admits he is becoming ‘tired of boxing.’ Garcia was one name on his hitlist before hanging up the gloves.

Gervonta Davis is one of the best boxers in the world. Turki Alalshikh, meanwhile, has changed the sport by bringing together its best fighters.

Davis and Alalshikh, however, haven’t always been on cordial terms. Despite that, Alalshikh has claimed he is ready to do business with Davis as personal opinions don’t interrupt his professional work.

Alalshikh wants to see Gervonta Davis take on Shakur Stevenson. Davis is currently the WBA lightweight champion whereas Stevenson holds the WBC lightweight title. In a recent interview with ESPN, Alalshikh expressed the desire to see the duo lock horns.

Alalshikh said:

I hope one day seeing Shakur against Tank.

ESPN’s Mike Coppinger reminded Alalshikh that he wasn’t on cordial terms with Canelo Alvarez last year. The duo, though, are currently business partners. Coppinger asked Alalshikh whether the same thing could happen with ‘Tank’ Davis. Alalshikh said:

I don’t take anything as a personal. I am professional. I don’t need to like you to talk with you.

Alalshikh further hailed Davis’ talent as a boxer, saying:

He is a great fighter of course. No doubt about this. But we need to see him in big fights more and more.

Gervonta Davis, 30, has a perfect professional record of 30-0-0. ‘Tank’ has won 28 of those fights by knockout. He is set to make a return to action on March 1, taking on Lamont Roach.

Shakur Stevenson, on the other hand, fights Floyd Schofield on February 22 on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol 2.

Rising star from Salt Lake City, Utah, Curmel Moton improved 7-0 after his fight against Frank Zaldivar at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The 18-year-old, also known for being Floyd Mayweather’s protege, delivered a one-sided beatdown, as Cuba’s Zaldivar failed to retaliate in the eight-round fight on the undercard of David Benavidez vs. David Morrell Jr.

Moton came into the fight after a debacle during his weigh-ins late last year in Atlantic City. Referee Harvey Dock stepped in to stop the fight in the third round after continued assault from Moton went unanswered. Zaldivar’s corner had tried to stop the fight moments prior, but Dock had his back turned. Regardless, soon after the fight WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis was roped into the conversation.

Chaos Erupts As Gervonta Davis CONFRONTS Curmel Moton

After the fight came to a close, a fan on X claimed Moton, in his current state, could defeat even Gervonta Davis, who once trained under the tutelage of five-division champion Floyd Mayweather. Moton, of course, remains under Mayweather’s wing, promoted by the legendary boxer’s Mayweather Promotions.

Davis and Mayweather’s relationship has taken a nose dive since ‘Tank’ separated from the organization. The former promoter boxer duo have also been involved in several bitter social media feuds over the years. Regardless, after discovering the user’s comment about Moton potentially defeating him, Davis could not stand the disrespect.

“I will beat the dog s**t out of him.. shut up,” Davis responded furiously. This promoted a horde of fans to converge on a social media post describing the entire ordeal on X. Even ‘Money’ Mayweather got roped into what appears to be an attempt to fabricate a rivalry.

It’s no secret that Gervonta Davis and Curmel Moton have trained together in the past under the same roof of the Mayweather gym. So, seeing these two former stablemate pitted against each other, fans were quick to share their thoughts. One user asked ‘Money’ to set up a fight between the duo. “@curmelmoton1 you see it. Get ready 🔜 lil bro. 💪🏾 @FloydMayweather set it up! We don’t need to wait.” the user wrote. However, Mayweather is wise enough not to do any such thing since Moton barely has any professional experience.

The next user didn’t seem to think Moton would last long against Davis in a fight. “Literally at the fight rn. I just watched Curmel go 7-0 he ain’t beating @Gervontaa yet lol,” the user wrote. Even though Moton is undeniably talented, the Benavidez vs. Morrell fight should tell you how a hypothetical fight between Moton and Davis would go.

Another user chimed in to take a dig at Davis’ response. “Say that about everybody but somebody in his division 🤣😂..the boy a prospect let him have his shine 🤡,” the user commented. Davis has long been criticized for ducking top opponents in his division, including Shakur Stevenson. Davis fighting Lamont Roach Jr. from the super featherweight division didn’t help his case either. However, Moton is also in the lightweight division, at least right now.

Somebody else thought it would be a miracle if Moton made it past round one. “This can’t be a real statement that people actually believe.. if it went 2 rounds, Curmel is lucky,” the user predicted. Despite Moton’s performance against low-level opponents, he is still not used to fighting in 12 whole rounds. Not to mention, Davis isn’t any run-of-the-mill fighter.

Meanwhile, this user presented an alternative for Moton, which the user thought would be a better match. “I wanna see curmel v Isaac Cruz next,” the user wrote. However, chances are Isaac Cruz would be too much for Moton. Notable, Cruz was also on tonight’s card, where he defeated Angel Fierro via a unanimous decision

That said, even though Gervonta Davis hasn’t fought all the best boxers on his level yet, some people are eager to see Davis fight Curmel Moton, who has barely dipped his toes into professional boxing.

The David Benavidez–David Morrell matchup warrants complete focus. Three weeks later, a much bigger event will turn up in Saudi Arabia.

So to expect fans to dive in with their thoughts on anything else remains a pointless exercise. But there’s yet another big card on the line – some ten days after the Beterbiev-Bivol rematch concludes.

On March 1, Gervonta Davis will defend his title from super featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. Given it’s a ‘Tank’ fight, fans can expect the usual ruckus and excitement. However, as the days draw nearer, one thought will continue to torment several fans. After the Roach Jr. clash, how many fights till ‘Tank’ Davis calls it a day and hangs his gloves? Last year at the kickoff press conference, Davis shocked everyone by announcing a retirement before 2026. Ever since discussions have been rife, about whether the decision has been taken in haste or if it’s a prudent one. Floyd Mayweather Jr.‘s uncle Jeff Mayweather has his own take.

JUST IN: “Cheating”- Gervonta Davis Has a Problem With David Benavidez’s Win vs. David Morell

FightHype caught up with Jeff Mayweather in Las Vegas. The former super featherweight titleholder marked his presence during the final face-off between David Benavidez and David Morrell. A few minutes after he checked for Mayweather’s views on tonight’s main event, the reporter sought his opinion on Gervonta Davis’s prospects against Lamont Roach Jr.

Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach set the fight for March 1st. Uh, how do you feel? How do you feel about that fight? What do you think is going to happen?” he asked. Jeff Mayweather was very candid. He admitted that he had little knowledge about Roach Jr. “I can only pick Tank because I know what he can do,” he replied.

What do you think about Tank saying he’s going to retire, uh, pretty soon?” The next question came. “To be honest, he’s doing the right thing,” confessed Jeff Mayweather. He acknowledged that some people may disapprove of the decision. However, it may not be such a bad thing. It might as well be a smart choice.

I think it’s great for him to walk away from his sport with all his faculties and spend some time with his family, plus he made plenty of money, and I think that’s wise, I think, very wise for him,” said Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s uncle.

Now contrast this with what some of Gervonta Davis’s contemporaries mentioned. When faced with the same line of questioning, Devin Haney remained noncommittal. Given that he fights at 140 pounds and perhaps plans on moving up further, chances of a clash with ‘Tank’s don’t seem imminent. The duo didn’t dance even when they were colleagues in the lightweight division. So Haney’s response could be understood in that context.

But the same could not be the case with Shakur Stevenson. As a WBC title holder, his title unification dream means crossing paths with the Baltimorean. Last year the two were close to a matchup; however, the prospect eventually faded away as time passed. Speaking with the media, Stevenson felt that Gervonta Davis’s latest doesn’t bode well since it shows certain weaknesses. “If he wants to retire with the career that he got, then go ahead and do whatever you got to do. I disagree with it. I think it’s soft, but that’s on him,” said the Newark-born southpaw.

A common issue but different perspectives. However, for sure, given a choice, many fans would rather Gervonta Davis doesn’t retire from the game while still in his prime.

The tale of Mexico vs. Cuba has always been an alluring narrative for fight fans, and David Benavidez vs. David Morrell didn’t disappoint.

However, in the end, Benavidez was the one to get his hand raised by unanimous decision. But WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis wasted no time halting the celebrations, immediately accusing referee Thomas Taylor of cheating.

From the first bell, both fighters were determined to deliver what fans paid money to watch—an absolute slugfest. Both fighters exchanged blows as if a knockout finish was the only answer.  By the fourth round, Morrell had Benavidez hurt and leaning back on the ropes with a surprise right hook. The once invincible Benavidez looked vulnerable for the first time in a long time.

However, Benavidez remained on the front foot, pressuring Morrell back and relying on counters rather than bringing the action. As a result, Benavidez kept breaking through Morrell’s guard to land brutal uppercuts. Still, Morrel’s resolve wasn’t about to waver even if he stayed on the back foot. Benavidez even took the break after the sixth round as an opportunity to remind viewers he is the ‘El Monstoro’.

Benavidez’s performance reflected that, as by the 8th round, Benavidez had landed a lot more punches. Slowly but surely, Benavidez’s power and pressure had started to show its effects on Morrell. By the ninth round, the Cuban was clearly fatigued, and both Benavidez and his corner were well aware of it. ‘The Mexican Monster’ was comfortably ahead on the unofficial scorecard. The only lingering question was: how much longer could Morrell hang on?

As the fight went into the championship rounds, the once-Morrell showboating in the early rounds had to watch Benavidez take up that role. Morrell, with advice from his corner, tried to steal the last two rounds with aggression, but Benavidez invited the action. However, near the end of the 11th round, Morrell scored a surprise knockdown.

Still, the referee deducted a point from Morrell for punching after the bell, putting Benavidez back on top. The judges scored the fight 115-111 twice and 118-108, all for Benavidez. In the meantime, Davis hopped on X to take shots at the referee, writing, “The ref cheatinggg!!!!”

Meanwhile, Benavidez has confirmed more good news for his fans.

For the past few years, David Benavidez had one goal to fight super middleweight king Canelo Alvarez. However, with his latest win, it appears he has abandoned his dream for now, at least. After acquiring Morrell’s WBA (regular) WBA light heavyweight strap, and his WBC ‘Interim’ light heavyweight belt, he has confirmed his position as the WBC mandatory challenger to the winner of Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol.

The Ring Magazine provided the update on X, writing, “David Benavidez has now confirmed his position as the WBC mandatory challenger to fight the winner of the Feb 22nd Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol rematch for the undisputed light-heavyweight world titles.” The winner of the February 22nd rematch could be fighting again for the undisputed title later this year.

That said, even though Gervonta Davis isn’t exactly happy about referee Thomas Taylor deducting a point from Morrell, Benavidez has officially moved to a bigger challenge.

The boxing world is abuzz once again as Gervonta Davis seemingly targets Shakur Stevenson.

Last year, Tank Davis and Shakur Stevenson appeared close to finalizing a fight after the collapse of negotiations for a Vasyl Lomachenko matchup. Fans and pundits alike were optimistic about the potential showdown between the fighters, but the fight ultimately didn’t materialize. Why? Because both of them ended up taking different opponents.

However, the situation recently took a dramatic turn when Gervonta Davis accused Stevenson of avoiding the fight, claiming he had allegedly sent a contract that was ignored. In response, Stevenson wasted no time in addressing these accusations. In a clip from Shawn Porter’s ‘The PorterWay Podcast’ shared by Hassan, Stevenson responded to accusations hurled against him by Davis. The caption of the post read, “Shakur Stevenson doubles down and says Gervonta Davis is lying about sending the contract and if he did to post it 😳.”

Shakur Stevenson Gervonta Davis

In the video, Shakur Stevenson was firmly denying Davis’ claims that a contract had been sent his way. In the clip, the interviewer asked, “People say they put a contract on your desk. You never signed it. I’ve heard all types of stuff.”

Stevenson, visibly confident, responded: “Somebody says they put a contract on my desk? … If he did, post it… When Tank and Lomachenko were in negotiations that shit was worldwide. It was public. Like Lomachenko said No. They publicly say, ‘Yo, Lomachenko turned down the fight. He’s a duck.’ Why didn’t that happen to me if that happened?”

Stevenson’s comments put Davis on blast, calling for tangible proof of the supposed contract. While challenging Tank to make the alleged contract public, he questioned why, if the contract was indeed sent, it wasn’t made public as was the case with the Lomachenko situation. This not only puts pressure on Davis but also places doubt on the authenticity of his claims. However, if you wonder where did all these start from, here is the answer.

The backstory of this feud goes deeper than just the recent contract allegations. Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson have long been rumored to be on a collision course, with the potential for a high-stakes showdown in the lightweight division. However, despite initial optimism, negotiations for the fight never came to fruition.

Tensions between the two fighters started to escalate when Davis accused Stevenson of dodging the fight, claiming he had sent a contract that Stevenson allegedly ignored. And a screenshot from Dantheboxingman on X only added fuel to the fire. In the screenshot, Gervonta Davis was seen commenting, “Ni***s sent him a contact he went elsewhere… get off my d**k you d**k eater.”

Stevenson, however, denied the allegations, stating emphatically that he had never received a contract. In a passionate interview with ‘Cigar Talks,’ he declared, “On my life, Tank a liar. If he sent me a contract, tell him to post that contract. Post that contract he sent me. That’s what I want to see.”

Shakur Stevenson did not stop there. He further criticized Davis’ resume, claiming that the Baltimore native has taken on less challenging opponents and used weight clauses to his advantage. “You’re taking the less talented fighters and putting them in the ring with yourself and making them look as though they are on this level, but they’re not,” Stevenson said. He also suggested that until Davis faces an elite-level fighter, he would remain uninterested in engaging in any further discussions about the rivalry.

Only time will tell if Stevenson and Davis can put their differences aside and focus on unifying the division. What do you think—Is Gervonta Davis lying about sending the contract, or is Shakur Stevenson avoiding the fight?

Shakur Stevenson insists Gervonta Davis never hurt him in sparring, despite ‘Tank’ insisting otherwise.

The American lightweight titans have been on a collision course to meet each other in the squared circle for several years now but nothing has come to fruition as of yet.

For now, the only thing boxing fans have to go off is their sparring sessions during the fledgling stages of their respective careers.

Davis and Stevenson have sparred numerous times in the past

READ: ‘I have a contract’ – Oleksandr Usyk lifts lid on shock career change plans after boxing retirement

As there is no footage of the rounds they shared on the internet, we are left with conflicting accounts of what happened.

Davis claims the last time they sparred he ‘cracked’ Stevenson and had the WBC lightweight champion running from him in the ring.

Meanwhile, Davis’ trainer Kenny Ellis affirms that Stevenson left their camp early after getting his tooth broken by his student.

When asked to set the record straight on these rumours, Stevenson told talkSPORT.com: “He’s lying, he never in his life hurt me. I’ve got a hell of a chin.

“The sparring sessions were good sparring sessions, after the last spar we had he came up to me and said ‘Bro, you have got so much better. Bro you are so good’.

“You can go back and look at clips of how he used to talk about me and then he changed.

“I’m not lying. He’s a hell of a fighter, I have got nothing to take away from him.

“But I’m a hell of a fighter myself and it was good work every time.”

Davis and Stevenson were in discussions to face each other last year in a WBA and WBC unification clash but talks subsequently fizzled out.

Stevenson is now set to square off against highly-touted prospect Floyd Schofield Jr on February 22 on the Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol II undercard in Saudi Arabia while Davis is headlining a show in Brooklyn on March 1 against Lamont Roach.

Providing both men get through their upcoming clashes unscathed Stevenson is hopeful Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh can make Davis an offer he can’t refuse.

“He’s the big superstar, he’s the big name, the biggest pay-per-view superstar in the sport of boxing so with him being the biggest name and attraction it’s on him [to make it happen],” said Stevenson when asked what has to happen to get their fight over the line.

“The ball is in his court. I can’t say ‘I’m going to send him an offer’. Turki [Alalshikh] can.

“Turki has got the money, I don’t have the money to send Gervonta Davis a big enough offer.

“I don’t know why it hasn’t happened, he is a weird human being.

“I don’t have much respect for him to be honest.”

It began as lighthearted banter. But the online spat between Terence Crawford and Gervonta Davis quickly escalated when the lightweight champion took swipes at the light middleweight champion’s family.

The two fighters may not have shared the best relationship, but many fans believe this latest squabble crossed the line. The drama began when Gervonta Davis, upset over not receiving an invitation to the high-profile Ring Awards, launched a series of rants online. These outbursts soon caught Crawford’s attention, prompting him to respond with a taunt. “I see somebody mad they wasn’t invited to the @ringmagazine gala.😂😂,” Crawford remarked on X.

One reply led to another, and the fallout eventually spiraled into a heated debate about finances. Both fighters traded claims about earning more than the other. The exchange even drew input from a few pundits. That was until an unkind remark from Gervonta Davis regarding Bud Crawford’s wife took the squabble past a point of no return. However, shifting the focus to his personal growth and positive changes, Crawford, the more seasoned of the two, eventually opted for a more measured approach.

Terence Crawford Gervonta Davis

JUST IN: Tyson Fury set for showdown talks over immediate retirement U-turn

Reflecting on his personal growth, Terence Crawford expressed gratitude for the changes that have shaped his life. “I’m glad I’m not the man I once used to be. Growth is a blessing, because some people don’t change when better days is right in front of them,” he expressed in his latest post. Perhaps the allusion to Gervonta Davis could have been more clear.

But a brief look at some of the fan reactions may seem to suggest so. For instance, this fan advised Crawford not to take Davis’ comments too seriously. They said, “Trying to knock you off your pivot, goat; time to take another division. Don’t worry about the youngster.” Another fan questioned, “Why are you conversing with absolute clowns?” Maybe Crawford had been wasting his time and energy engaging in what could be a pointless feud.

Interestingly, over a year ago, shortly after defeating Errol Spence Jr., Crawford received a bold callout from none other than Gervonta Davis. The lightweight champion at the time claimed he was ready to face the newly crowned undisputed champion. True to his characteristic maturity, Crawford welcomed the challenge—but with a caveat.

Perhaps it will take some time for the disputes between Crawford and Davis to settle. Weighing in on the matter through his tweets, boxing insider Rick Glaser also pointed out Gervonta Davis’ rude comments about Terence Crawford’s family, calling the move ‘classless.’ “Very low by Tank Davis @Gervontaa, bringing Terence Crawford’s @terencecrawford family into it, you never ever bring family into it. EVER!!! Classless move,” noted the insider emphatically. The same sentiment was also reflected in a user’s comment on Crawford’s latest post. The fan remarked, “Growth is key 🔑 proud to see you represent Nebraska with so much class.”

Despite ‘Tank’ Davis’ confidence, the reality remains that a fight between two of the biggest names in boxing is highly unlikely. Beyond the significant weight differences, their future plans make such a clash even less feasible. Davis has already hinted at retiring from boxing by the end of this year. Crawford, on the other hand, appears to be gearing up for a potential showdown with Canelo Alvarez.

Regardless of their legacies or the wealth they’ve amassed, the truth remains that both Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford hold significant importance for fans. These future Hall of Famers have already achieved so much in their careers that online bickering only tarnishes their reputations. As some have suggested, maybe it’s time for both to move on and let bygones be bygones.
