Canelo Alvarez‘s next opponent before he takes on Terence Crawford has been revealed.

It was a chaotic week for Canelo, with the Mexican superstar seemingly going from one opponent to the other over the course of a few days.

His fight with Crawford was abruptly reported as being off, before it then emerged that Alvarez was in negotiations for a shock clash against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

One final twist then saw the Paul fight fall through, with Canelo once again taking on Crawford in September whilst also signing a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season.

It meant that Alvarez was in search for an opponent in May before facing ‘Bud’ in September, and it has now been revealed by Saudi chief Turki Alalshikh that he will take on IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull.

“The legend Saul Alvarez Canelo will fight William Scull in undisputed fight in Riyadh on the 3rd of May … if he win the fight in September will be undisputed again.”

Canelo then needed just two words himself to respond to the announcement, as he looks to once again become undisputed super-middleweight champion.

“Let’s go!”

Alvarez was undisputed champion at 168lbs up until he was stripped of the IBF belt last year after choosing to take on Edgar Berlanga instead of mandatory challenger Scull. At the time, he was unbothered by the move, telling Million Dollaz Worth Of Game:

“There are levels. There are stars and there are superstars. They make the championship, not the championship makes them. Who is William Scull? I never hear about him. I’m not gonna do whatever they want. I’m gonna do whatever I want. Because I deserve it, because of all I have done.”

Scull then won the vacant belt with a victory over Vladimir Shishkin in October, and has been vocal ever since that he wants the fight against Canelo, who most certainly knows who he is now.

He will now have that chance to shock the world when he takes on the pound-for-pound star in May, but most boxing fans will now be excited about the prospect of the Canelo vs Crawford bout potentially being for undisputed status.

Jake Paul has ‘exposed‘ former unified super middleweight world champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in a video posted to his social media by claiming the two had a signed contract for a fight that they were going to announce on the 11th of February.

Paul’s claims come a day after it was announced that Canelo had signed a four-fight deal with the Saudi’s, with Terence Crawford being lined up for September later this year.

Sources told ESPN’s Mike Coppinger on Thursday that Canelo and Paul were finalising a deal to fight on the 3rd of May in Las Vegas. However, it was then later revealed that that fight was off, and the Mexican would instead be signing a four-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh, all-but ending the hopes and dreams of a shock Canelo vs Jake Paul fight.

Jake Paul Responds to Canelo’s Four-Fight Deal

The deal ended The Problem Child’s hopes of fighting the Mexican

The YouTuber-turned-boxer wasted no time in going after the 34-year-old. He posted a video to his X account at 2:29am GMT on the 8th of February, mere hours after Canelo’s announcement. Paul started the video off by calling his possible future opponent a puta, before a clip of the Mexican is shown, where he claims: “He only fights real fighters and not YouTubers.”

The video then cuts back to Paul, who says: “Time to expose him.”

Paul then shows what he claims to be a signed contract between himself and Canelo: “Here you can see Canelo’s signature, my signature to the right, claiming he’s not fighting YouTubers. Bulls***.”

Paul continues: “Look at the poster. We were announcing Tuesday, February 11th. Claiming he fights real fighters, but he’s fighting Crawford, a 135-pound fighter and running from a real fighter like David Benavidez, you b****.

“The truth is, you can be bought, you’re a money-hungry squirrel, chasing your next nut. The truth is, these sports washing, shady characters are paying you hundreds of millions of dollars to stop our fight from happening because they couldn’t fathom the fact that they can’t create a bigger fight than me and you.”

Paul also said: “Remember you told my team that your daughter came home and asked if you were fighting Jake Paul, she was all excited. You said that was the first time your daughter ever asked you about a fight, and you’re screwing over all your Mexican fans by doing your fights in Saudi. It just shows what type of person you are, and I promise you one thing, Canelo. Any fight that you do this year, mine will be bigger.”

Paul will now have to move on from Canelo and look for a different opponent for his next fight. The 28-year-old last fought Mike Tyson on Netflix back in November.

The Saudis are apparently going to war with Jake Paul. On Thursday afternoon, it appeared that Paul had a deal in place to fight Canelo Alvarez in May.

News of the Paul-Alvarez fight apparently annoyed Saudi backer Turki Alalshikh, who reportedly stopped negotiating with the Mexican superstar on other potential deals if he fought the YouTube star-turned-boxer.

Via The Ring

According to boxing insider Michael Coppinger of ESPN, Turki Alalshikh – Head of Riyadh Season and the General Entertainment Authority – is “suspending efforts” to finalize a lucrative three-fight deal with super middleweight world champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

As previously reported by The Ring, an agreement was in place for Canelo to defend his super middleweight crown against Terence Crawford on a September date at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The fight with Crawford would have been the first bout of this agreement.

Coppinger indicates that Canelo and Crawford signed term sheets after agreeing to a deal – and that the Mexican star’s decision to move forward with a planned fight against social media star Jake Paul is the potential cause for the fallout in finalizing the multi-fight pact

JUST IN: “It’ll Shock The World”: Terence Crawford Officially Announces Who He Will Fight Next

On Friday morning, Alvarez had a last-minute change of heart, and announced that he would be signing a four-fight deal with the Saudis and would not be fighting Paul.

An annoyed Paul took to social media to fire shots at Canelo for aligning himself with the Saudis.

“Breaking news: Canelo Alvarez ducked me Jake Paul and is now an owned slave with no regard for the pride of the Mexican people who support him on US soil. it’s not surprising when his whole career he has done nothing for the sport of boxing outside the ring. I’m the new face of boxing. You cannot have the biggest fight of 2025 without my name involved. When all of your events tank and lose money you will all realize who the king of the sport is. 28 years old. Biggest fight in boxing history. My own boss. Not owned. 5 years in. All of you felines want to see me fail, but god has other plans. It’s the era of good. The era of the elephant. It’s the era of MVP.”

Canelo Alvarez’s blockbuster showdown with Terence Crawford has now been scrapped.

The rivals were set to meet in Las Vegas on September 13 at super-middleweight but The Ring magazine is now reporting the fight has been cancelled. The meeting would have seen Crawford move up two weight divisions and the postponement comes days after reports suggesting Alvarez will fight Jake Paul in May.

Crawford had been pushing the fight for almost a year and both men recently spoke to Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh in London – who has been a huge advocate of this mouthwatering showdown. Terms were believed to have been agreed with an official announcement imminent.

Following the recent meeting with HE, Alvarez was expected to sign a three-fight deal with Alalshikh and was expected to compete in the ring before taking on Crawford in September. Previous reports claimed that ‘Saul’ would be open to a showdown with IBF mandatory challenger William Scull before talks opened with YouTuber Paul.

As for Crawford, the undefeated American star recently moved up to 154lbs and took on Israil Madrimov – where he eventually became a four-weight world champion. Last year, it looked like a clash between the pair was seemingly off the cards after Alalshikh revealed he had no interest in pursuing it anymore. His Excellency had the dust-up at the top of his boxing wishlist and even made the offer to ‘Saul’, but talks between the pair broke down.

Both Crawford and Alalshikh jumped on an Instagram live during UFC 306 back in September – with ‘Bud’ going on to call out Canelo following the latter’s win over Edgar Berlanga. “Yo Turki, tell them we are going to go for Canelo next,” said Crawford. “Yes,” replied Alalshikh. “Let’s go! Canelo, come on. We are ready.”

Crawford then added: “You heard it from him. Just put me in the game b****. Canelo-Crawford, the biggest fight in boxing. But we stay ready though. We stay ready, that way we ain’t got to get ready.”

Jake Paul sure knows how to promote himself. The boxing superstar has been teasing who his next opponent is in the ring and had many believing it was going to be his brother Logan Paul.

The Paul brothers shared what appeared to be a fight posted for the pair, but it ended up being a publicity stunt for their new reality TV series. Jake and Logan also had a run-in with Conor McGregor on the way to the Donald Trump inauguration, which added more fuel to the fire of one or both fighting the Irish UFC star. Still, no fight has been announced. That was until a rumor blew up the internet on Monday.

Boxing journalist julianisjulius revealed in a post on X that Jake and Canelo Alvarez verbally agreed to a fight with one another on Cinco de Mayo in 2025. The X post reads via translation, “There is already an agreement for Jake Paul to be Canelo Álvarez’s rival in May of this year, a source very close to the operation informs me. The event will be co-promoted by CaneloPromotions & MVP & PBC.”

Though there could be some truth to this, Jake has shared a date on his own X page that contradicts the above post. Jake’s post reads: It’s time Sat July 5th New York, New York The post could mean many things, and if Jake’s publicity stunt with Logan can be used as an example — the boxer could be pointing to any major activity happening on July 5. However, he could also be teasing his next fight for that date in New York. If Jake is truly teasing his next boxing match, the July 5 date would contradict the report that he is set to fight Alvarez in May. Though the months are close, that is still a major discrepancy.

For now, it appears the world will have to wait to see how Jake might fight next. Though it could be his brother Logan at some point, that will not be the case. The world assumed that McGregor would happen, but his random announcement of fighting Logan, along with the bus run in says otherwise.

What is most interesting about the rumors of an Alvarez and Jake fight is the world-renowned boxer complimented Jake recently. When being interviewed by Sports Illustrated, Alvarez admitted that Jake is “good for boxing” and that he is “good.”

Alvarez alluded to the hard training that Jake engages in. Whether or not that is enough for the pair to share the ring remains to be seen. What would make Alvarez consider fighting Jake is money. Jake has proven to be a global superstar, and his fight with Mike Tyson broke multiple records. Alvarez vs Paul would be an incredibly lucrative fight and could be true — at least according to the rumor presented on X.

Canelo Alvarez will reportedly take on Jake Paul in a boxing fight on Cinco de Mayo.

The pair have been linked with a fight for some time, which has largely been driven by The Problem Child. Paul has repeatedly said that his aspirations are to win a world title before eventually securing a lucrative fight with Canelo. Paul took himself a step closer to securing that mega-fight after he put on a record-breaking event against Mike Tyson in his last fight. It was the first boxing fight ever on Netflix and became the most streamed boxing event of all time.

The numbers did the talking, as 60 million households watched it across the globe. There are also reports that Jake walked away with a $40 million purse. A fight against Canelo would generate more since they are both big household names, with Canelo being one of the leading ones. Canelo also said he was open to the fight if the terms were right.

“Canelo needs me, so I’m not even going to try and call him out. He knows he wants a payday. So, he knows where the money man is at… He’s going to want a payday and I want to show the world all the [stuff] I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is true and I’ll have the biggest upset in the history of boxing. We’ll fight to really see who is the face [of boxing] because, after this event, I’m going to be claiming it,” Jake said

“When I’m done with boxing [at the highest level], why not? Yeah, maybe. I think it’s good cause what happens is other people who never watch boxing, they don’t know anything about boxing, they want to watch Jake Paul because he brings fans from another world. Maybe [I’ll take the Paul fight],” Canelo stated

Canelo is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Edgar Berlanga, which took place on Mexican Independence Weekend last year. Canelo was going up against UFC 306, which was headlined by Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili. That was the first combat sports event held at The Sphere. There was pressure on Canelo to perform, especially since fans were disappointed that he did not fight David Benavidez.

The fight produced some solid numbers. It sold 650,000 PPVs whilst bringing in a live gate of $17 million. It showed Canelo was able to produce big numbers without necessarily fighting the best names. However, neither Jake nor Canelo have officially come out to state that the fight has gone ahead. For the fight to go ahead, there would have to be several parties involved. Canelo and MVP Promotions would have to do a deal. There is also the question of which network will air the fight. Canelo has ties with PBC and DAZN, meaning there may have to be a battle between the networks. Regardless, Paul, it has resulted in many boxing fans having a say.

Just a few months following his controversial showdown with Mike Tyson, Jake Paul is now being targeted by another former world heavyweight champion.

The 28-year-old YouTube star turned professional fighter defeated ‘Iron’ Mike in an 8-round heavyweight contest at the AT&T Stadium in Texas last November, picking up the eleventh win of his storied boxing career.

Paul received heavy criticism for going ahead with a fight against the once formidable heavyweight legend, who hadn’t fought as a professional since losing to Kevin McBride back in June 2005. ‘The Problem Child’ was reluctant to throw certain shots during the 8-rounds he shared with Tyson, which fuelled rumours that the fight itself was ‘scripted’.

With Paul now eyeing a return to the ring in 2025, he has been called out by former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, who is also targeting a return to boxing having not fought since 2016.

Sharing a message he has sent to Paul on Instagram, ‘The Cannon’ made it clear that he wants to face the 28-year-old next, claiming ‘Iron’ Mike was only in it for the ‘money’.

“You wanna run it, or just run? Mike [Tyson] wanted the money I just want [blood]. Let’s go champ!”

Briggs – who was the WBO Heavyweight Champion from 2006-2007 has had his sights set on returning to the sport for a few years, calling out a number of both active and inactive heavyweight fighters including former long-reigning unified heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

The 53-year-old, hailing from the same area in Brooklyn as Tyson, was last in the ring 9-years ago when he knocked out Emilio Zarate during the 1st-round of their contest at the O2 Arena in London. It was his 53rd stoppage victory.

Mike Tyson could be back in the ring again soon despite losing to Jake Paul with a whimper in return to the professional ranks in November.

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ saw his record drop to 50-7 with a third straight defeat, almost twenty years since his last bout against Kevin McBride. According to a man who had unlimited access to Tyson’s training camp, his friend Amer Abdallah, the youngest heavyweight champion’s ring career may not be over.

“As far as fighting [professionally] again, I don’t think that’s going to be something that he would consider,” Abdallah exclusively told WBN . “But at the end of the day, it’s Mike who is going to make that decision.

“Here’s one thing about Mike Tyson that I’ll tell you: Mike will make any decision that he feels is fit for his current situation. So, today, the answer might be no. But, next month, six months from now. The answer might be yes. It depends on what Mike wants to do and the mentality he’s in,” he added.

Abdallah said Tyson had been looking for a proper challenge for years for why he accepted a $20 million offer to face a 27-year-old influencer boxer opponent in Paul.

“He wanted the fight. And for the eight to ten weeks we were in training camp, he was busting his ass like he was 25 years old. He had that fire that he wanted to be in the gym. Discipline drove him to be there.

“I had the honor of being with him for the Roy Jones Jr card, and Badou fought just before Jake. Mike had fun in that fight. Maybe he’ll do exhibitions. It depends on what Mike wants to do. Mike does what he wants. He’s a living legend today. Whatever he’ll do, people will follow.

“Roy Jones at 52 years old, top 10 PPV events in the sport’s history. Then, Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul was the most viewed event of our time. Mike Tyson is Mike Tyson, man. He’s the guy,” concluded Abdallah.

Tyson was linked to a fight with Lennox Lewis before his poor performance at the AT&T Stadium. If the old rivals were to have a rematch, it undoubtedly would be under exhibition rules and not a serious fight.

However, despite the good numbers, Netflix would probably pass on any future Tyson events after being burned by the main event.

Jake Paul has no interest in taking on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr for a WBA belt.

The major boxing organisation’s president, Gilberto Mendoza, floated around the idea of sanctioning a fight between Paul and the former WBC middleweight champion for one of the WBA’s many trinkets earlier this year.

Chavez Jr even recently declared he had received an offer to square off with Paul following the YouTuber’s controversial professional bout with Mike Tyson in November.

However, Paul has put an emphatic end to such talk.

“I want someone tougher [than Chavez] and I want a real belt, not just something that gets put up for entertainment value,” Paul said on Friday.

“It’s great and all, but, honestly, he’s easy work and I want someone tougher to shut people up.”

Chavez Jr, son of first-ballot Hall of Famer Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, held the WBC’s version of the 160lb world title from 2011 to 2012 before dropping it to Sergio Martinez.

He fell to a one-sided unanimous decision defeat to Canelo Alvarez five years later and hasn’t looked the same since.

The 38-year-old is now competing in crossover clashes with over-the-hill MMA fighters and lost to former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, in 2021.

Paul beat Silva over the distance a year later so a fight with Chavez Jr would likely be seen as a step back.

‘The Problem Child’s’ ultimate goal is to become a world champion but he will need to receive a ranking from a major sanctioning body before that dream can be realised – although Paul doesn’t seem particularly bothered about the idea of having a number next to his name.

“F*** the rankings. It’s just a number. Who cares?” Paul said.

“People just want to classify things and do a numbers chart.

“I’ve never looked at the rankings. I couldn’t care less.

“I know I’m the best in the world and I’m going to be world champion.”

His manager, Nakisa Bidarian, then added: “The rankings are, he’s the No.1 box office draw in boxing.

“He’s ranked No.1 above everybody else. That’s why [Daniel] Dubois is calling him out, that’s why [Artur] Beterbiev is calling him out, that’s why Gervonta Davis is calling him out, that’s why Ryan Garcia is calling him out, that’s why everyone and their mom is calling out Jake Paul.

“Claressa Shields is calling him out. So it’s pretty apparent who the No.1-ranked fighter in the world is across all weight classes.”

Paul’s next fight is expected to take place in early 2025, though it remains unclear who will be standing in the other corner.

“I mean, there’s a long line out there,” Paul said of his next opponent. “They can take a ticket and get in line to see who I want to fight next.

“I don’t say that as s*** talk – I’m the biggest payday in the sport of boxing right now, so everyone wants to fight.

“When you’re the hot girl on the block, you can do what the f*** you want.”

Mike Tyson has made a terrifying admission about his fight against YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul.

In an eye-opening interview, the 58-year-old former heavyweight champ says he can barely remember the fight.

Paul won the bout via unanimous decision in a fight that drew widespread backlash with Tyson landing only 18 punches through eight rounds.

Now less than a month on from the contentious bout, Tyson has admitted he “blanked out” and can’t really recall anything from the fight.

“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little,” he told Fox Sports Radio.

“I remember coming back from the first round and Jake is doing some kind of … I don’t know what he was doing (leans forward pretending to bow) and that’s the last thing I remember.”

The moment Tyson is referencing came in the dying seconds of the final round when Paul bowed to his opponent as a show of respect.

Tyson was asked about the power of Paul, but again his memory is foggy … all he remembers is waking up the next day and being sore.

“I don’t remember it. But my body was really sore (after the fight). My chest, my stomach was really sore,” he said.

The baddest man on the planet said upon reflection the next day he couldn’t understand why he had just put himself through it all.

“The day after I woke up and said to my wife, ‘why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the hell was going on,” Tyson said.

The 58-year-old released a statement a day after the fight where he detailed the health issues he overcame to fulfil his goal of getting in the ring — something his kids didn’t get to see him do at the peak of his powers.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” the 58-year-old said.

“I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.

“I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs (11kg) in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

Jake Paul replied to the post: “Love you Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all.”
