Following the disaster that was his bout against Jake Paul, Mike Tyson has officially been challenged to a rematch in an effort to clean up his image.

The fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson was a fiasco. Following the huge criticism that ‘Iron Mike’ has faced, a rematch has been proposed to him in order to help him create a better image for his fans.

A few months ago, Jake Paul decided to challenge Mike Tyson to a professional bout. Many fans doubted Tyson’s condition, as the 58-year-old had been retired for 19 years.

Nevertheless, Tyson promised his fans that they would see a big show at AT&T Stadium. Unfortunately, he was unable to keep up with the pace set by the influencer and was easily defeated by Jake Paul.Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson gets called out for a rematch after Jake Paul fiasco

While many fans were eager to see the great Mike Tyson once again in the ring, the reality was a big disappointment. The legendary boxer was clearly exhausted by the third round, making it impossible for him to throw powerful punches against his rival.

Mike Tyson lasted all eight rounds, but he was clearly not in optimal physical condition for the fight. He has even admitted that he doesn’t remember much about the fight, a clear sign that he wasn’t ready for it.

After this poor performance by ‘Iron Mike,’ several boxing legends have stepped in to support him. Now, it was Roy Jones Jr.‘s turn, a fighter Tyson faced four years ago, to show his support towards his former rival. Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. fought in 2020 in an eight-round exhibition match. While the bout ended in a draw, Jones Jr. believes Tyson performed better against him than against Paul, which is why he has now challenged him to a rematch.

Lennox Lewis is the latest name in boxing to join the criticism of Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s fight. However, he thinks that the spectacle won’t hurt “great boxing,” such as the upcoming match between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

While heavily controversial, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s fight is still the talking point of the boxing community. As the Youtuber-turned-boxer became one of the most sought-after rivals, many big names of the sport have slammed the spectacle. The latest to join the list is Lennox Lewis.

The former undisputed world heavyweight champion compared the Paul-Tyson fight, which was viewed on Netflix by 60 million people around the world, has nothing to do with the upcoming rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh.Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

“At the end of the day you’ve got a big event that a lot of people were happy to attend, and they felt OK. The boxing purist didn’t feel OK, they didn’t feel it was the right thing to do,” he said, according to The Herald Scotland.

“Then you’ve got the real event which is the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world, where the two best fighters in the world actually meet and box and we can actually see who is the best out of the two, and who is the king of heavyweight boxing at the moment,” he added about the Fury-Usyk fight, which will take place on December 21st.

He added, “That type of boxing doesn’t tarnish great boxing such as Usyk and Fury, because you’ve got two different types of eras and things going on. You’ve got entertainment, and you’ve got real good fighting with drama.

Tommy Fury challenged Jake Paul, Paul called him a ‘muppet’

While Jake Paul has officially retired from “influencer boxing” to be professional, Tommy Fury joined a long-list of boxers who called him out. Fury beat Paul in a split decision in 2023, but now he responded to Logan Paul’s podcast comments, in which he said that he was “scared” for a rematch.Mike Tyson

“I beat you once already, I handed you your first loss. The minute you stepped up and fought a real boxer, you lost fair and square. I can give you a second loss, that’s not a problem, but let’s talk some serious numbers. If you want to get in touch, you know where I am,” Fury recently said in a video on his social media.

Paul fired back on X (formerly Twitter), dismissing Fury’s callout and questioning his credibility. “What an absolute muppet. Buddy, you just pulled out of a fight for the 3rd time. You have ZERO credibility. I offered you $8M dollars and you ran away from it. And now you got dumped by Molly, getting sued by DAZN and still can’t call a shot without your dad GTFOH,” Paul wrote.

If Paul and Fury’s rematch isn’t actually in the cards, Paul has plenty of offers from other boxers to continue his career. The “Problem Child” has been called out by Artur Bierberv, Daniel Dubois, Gervonta Davis, and even Ryan Garica.

We were stressing the limits of the Internet itself that night,” the streamer’s co-CEO tells UBS’ Media & Communications Conference

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said demand for its live boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson on Nov. 15 was “off the charts,” despite some of its subscribers facing technical difficulties during the stream.

“We hate to disappoint a member for one second. So yes, there was some of that,” Sarandos admitted at UBS’ Media & Communications Conference on Tuesday. “But the real thing is, we had an enormous live audience: 108 million people watching live. You’d have to go back to the ’80s to get a live audience that big. It’s a Super Bowl-like audience that we were able to draw for this fight.”

He touted the match as the “largest streaming event in history” and “one of the largest live audiences in almost 40 years.”

“We were stressing the limits of the Internet itself that night,” Sarandos added. “We had a control room up in Silicon Valley that was re-engineering the entire Internet to keep it up during this fight because of the unprecedented demand that was happening.”

Sarandos also noted that the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fight attracted 50 million people in the U.S. and 74 million around the world.

“A lot of records were set that night for a company that basically broke down during the ‘Love is Blind’ reunion about a year and a half before that,” he emphasized. “So that’s a lot of positive trajectory in a very short amount of time.”

The Tyson-Paul match was the latest live programming effort from Netflix as it looks to ramp up its advertising business.

“We severely undersold that fight,” Sarandos said. “If we knew the audience would be that big, we probably would have done a lot more selling on that fight.”

In addition to that fight night, Netflix is gearing up for two live NFL games on Christmas Day as well as WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” starting in January 2025, which have attracted “a lot” of advertising demand, according to Sarandos.
