Is Jake Paul a threat to Mike Tyson?

As far as the boxing community is concerned, people are split. While some believe ‘The Problem Child’ poses a real problem for ‘Iron’ Mike, others feel the upcoming November 15 fight would be a walk in the park for the former heavyweight champion. However, the question is, what does ‘The Baddest Man on the Plant’ think?

With over two months remaining in the cross-generational showdown at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Tyson appeared on Logan Paul‘s popular YouTube podcast, Impaulsive. During the episode, Tyson, now 58, discussed how, despite him taking Jake Paul seriously, most fans don’t share his opinion, all this while explaining why Paul is capable of killing him.

Speaking to the former world champion, known for his ferocity in the ring, Logan Paul claimed he was nervous for Mike Tyson, stating, “He’s a real killer, Mike.” He went on to reveal that Jake Paul wanted to be a “Navy Seal” before he started boxing, remarking, “he wanted to go kill people” for his country, trying to emphasize the threat Paul really poses.

Logan’s co-host Mike Majlak quickly jumped in to suggest the Problem Child—who has barely started his professional boxing career—posing a threat to Iron Mike might be a “tough pill to swallow” for Tyson’s fans who look up to him as one of the best ever. This prompted a response from Mike Tyson, who suggested that he was fearful of a lot of things and a lot of people, and Paul was no exception.

“I’m fearful of my 13-year-old son. This is what I learned through my 58 years of experience. Anyone’s capable of killing you,” Tyson confessed. He elaborated further, explaining that his life experiences had taught him that anyone could potentially “kill you,” implying that Jake Paul is no different from anyone else in that regard.

“That’s how I look at people. They’re all capable of killing you,” Tyson added. However, this doesn’t mean Mike Tyson has any intention of just letting Jake Paul steamroll through him like Paul has done to his other opponents in the past.

While Paul might be a “killer” as his brother suggests, Mike has been planning for Paul’s wake.

Back in June, Mike Tyson sent a chilling warning to Jake Paul following the postponement of their highly anticipated fight. Originally scheduled for July 20th, the bout was pushed to November 15th after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up during a cross-country flight. Despite the setback, Tyson made it clear that the delay wouldn’t change the outcome.

In a video posted on X captioned, “Jake’s new wake date. Nov. 15th,” the legendary boxer delivered a stark message to Paul, “Different date. Same fate. I’m going to knock out Jake Paul.” Tyson’s warning left no doubt about his intentions, as he vowed to resume training and prepare for the new date with the same ferocity. The bout will see Tyson return to the ring for the first time since his 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.

That said, while Mike Tyson is not taking Jake Paul lightly, his response suggests he will tackle ‘The Problem Child’ in the same way he has done in the past against much more formidable opponents.

The boxing legend means business.

Jake Paul has revealed the reason for the shorter 2-minute rounds in his upcoming fight with Mike Tyson.

At the pre-fight press conference in New York, Paul and Tyson engaged in a heated exchange, with the 27-year-old YouTuber disclosing that the former world heavyweight champion requested eight rounds of two minutes each.

The conflict followed another intense conference, during which Paul compared himself to Muhammad Ali and was later shoved by Tyson.

Previously, the fight was postponed due to Tyson suffering from an ulcer flare-up.

However, Tyson has now stated he is in good physical form for the fight on November 15, threatening Paul with the words: ‘Be in shape, be in good shape because your health depends on it.’

It was just a matter of time before Paul would grab the mic and respond to the boxing legend’s statement: ‘You’re the one that wanted eight, two-minute rounds,’ said the Youtuber, revealing Tyson’s demands for the fight.

He later confidently claimed that he was willing to increase the duration of each round: ‘Want to make it eight or threes? Don’t talk to me about shape.’

In response, Tyson said calmly to ‘be careful.’

Paul then countered: ‘That’s the thing, everyone is all talk. I’ll do whatever, wherever, whenever, it’s all talk.

‘Put it on the line. I’m stating facts, he’s s*** talking.’

The boxing clash – shown exclusively by Netflix, which gained broadcast rights – will endure another rule modification in addition to the change in round duration.

Paul and Tyson will be wearing 14oz gloves instead of the standard 10oz gloves used by professional boxers.

Their fight was sanctioned under the auspices of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations with a revised rule set.

Despite the criticism surrounding the match, Tyson was warmly received at Fanatics Fest NYC, while his opponent was infuriated by boos and offensive chants from the crowd.

That prompted Paul to turn on the fans, shouting: ‘F*** you, New York. ‘You’re just like Mike Tyson, you were good 20 years ago.’

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is back on following a postponement back in May due to medical issues from Tyson. Both Paul and Tyson held an official press conference in New York to discuss the fight which is now set for November 15 on Netflix, and Paul took on the heel role quickly.

“Making history, this is what it’s all about for me,” Paul said to a rain of boos from the New York crowd. “New York, you’re just like Mike Tyson, you were good 20 years ago,” Paul shot back at the hostile crowd. “F—k you, New York.”

Shortly after Paul would take aim a Tyson for having their fight postponed as he dealt with some health issues.

“You had to go on your little menopause break and postpone the fight, so yeah, what about that, dog? I was ready before, you needed a little break. Your tummy hurt still?

“He’s vicious, he’s a killer, I know all of these things. He has one punch knockout power, he’s the greatest heavyweight of all time, but I will prove on November 15 all the haters wrong.”

UFC star Michael Chandler admits nobody wants to see Mike Tyson knocked out by Jake Paul.

Tyson will lock horns with YouTuber Paul in November after their fight was pushed back from its original July date when Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up in May. Tyson has not fought professionally since he quit on his stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride in 2005. His last outing was a bore draw in an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

Paul has won 10 of his 11 professional bouts and most recently stopped bare-knuckle boxer and former UFC Mike Perry in the sixth round last month. He is the favourite to beat Tyson and will enjoy a 30-year age advantage in the ring in Texas later this year – and Chandler fears fans will be left disappointed if the social media star wins by stoppage.

“Jake Paul fought Mike Perry, who he outweighed by 20 pounds or so and had four inches of height on. And now it’s Mike Tyson, who is 30 years older. Mike Tyson’s about 60, and Jake’s about 30,” Chandler told Lucky Block. “I love Mike Tyson. Nobody wants to see Mike Tyson get knocked out. But everybody wants to see Mike Tyson catch Jake Paul and knock him out. So I mean, you’re going to watch it. I’m going to watch it. It’s great for a fun—not taking boxing seriously, if you will—fight night, and I’ll probably watch it.”

Paul stopped former UFC stars Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley early in his career and Chandler didn’t rule out seeking revenge for his fellow mixed martial artists. “It was tough to see them both lose; I was pumped to see both of them. But Jake Paul knew exactly who he was picking for these fights. He knows exactly the age, the size, the skill level,” he added. “It has been said by many people that there’s only one more Mizzou Tiger that Jake Paul needs to get through, and obviously, I’m the smallest one out of them all, so I’m sure he would love to fight a guy who outweighs by 30 pounds.”

“I’ve got nothing against Jake Paul. I think what he’s done has been great. Obviously, him and Dana have their little tiff, but I think Jake Paul’s just doing Jake Paul. He loves to be the problem child. He loves to promote. And he loves what he is doing. He is living a dream, but I would never rule it out, so to speak. But, man, I am fully focused on winning UFC gold. Whether that’s running through Conor [McGregor] or that is pivoting and finding somebody else to get to that gold. So right now, I’m a UFC fighter, and I very much enjoy it, because it is the most legitimate fighting organisation and style of fighting in the world today.”
