Does former undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford stand a chance of winning against fellow four-division champion Canelo Alvarez?

It depends on who you ask! While some point at Canelo’s history fighting boxers from lower weight classes, others seem to have complete confidence in Crawford’s abilities.

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has doubts about ‘Bud’ Crawford’s ability to overcome the significant weight difference between the two fighters. The youngest heavyweight champion in history previously stated that competing at 168 lbs would pose a considerable challenge for Crawford and could take a toll on the undefeated boxer.

“I don’t like that fight,” Tyson said. “Too much weight, you know he had a close fight with the last guy he fought [Madrimov] because this guy was big and he was awkward, he shouldn’t have fought that guy.” However, Crawford doesn’t seem bothered about the weight, even though he has to climb two weight classes to fight Canelo.

Recent reports suggest that a fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford is in the final stages of negotiations and is being planned for September in Las Vegas. Regardless, Crawford just came clean on the weight difference conversation, revealing his view on the challenge that lies ahead of him.

In an interview with Boxing Scene, the Nebraska-born boxer said, “That’s what great fighters are all about – testing yourself against all the odds.” Responding to all the doubts about weight, he claimed, “That’s when great fighters perform their best.” Furthermore, he feels he wouldn’t face any challenges at 168.

“I’m going to feel great [at 168]. I don’t need to worry about the weight,” he told Boxing Scene“I’ve got a lot of things to prepare on. That’s part of boxing – [meeting] milestones you’ve got to hit. We’re going to be well prepared when that time comes.” The concerns about Crawford’s weight were magnified because of his showing against Israil Madrimov.

During the fight last year, Crawford seemed much slower and Madrimov was able to get the upper hand on certain occasions during the fight. The fight itself turned out to be much more close than anyone expected. However, Crawford seems to have a clear-cut plan for Canelo.

During the same interview, Crawford was asked about what he plans to do when he comes face to face with Alvarez, who has never been knocked down. Crawford pointed to his ability to adapt on the fly no matter who his opponent is. “Man, we’re going to see come fight time what my advantage is,” Crawford said.

“I’m the type of guy who likes to feel my fighters out and adjust to what they’re doing.” Crawford considers this ability his greatest attribute, and his strategy to defeat Canelo heavily relies on it. “I’m looking to do the same come fight time when the Canelo fight happens,” Crawford said. However, Canelo Alvarez is no ordinary opponent, and only fighting will reveal how effectively Crawford will be able to execute his plans.

That said, even though the fans and experts have doubts about Terence Crawford fighting Canelo Alvarez at 168 lbs, ‘Bud’ himself seems confident in his abilities.

Mike Tyson could be back in the ring again soon despite losing to Jake Paul with a whimper in return to the professional ranks in November.

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ saw his record drop to 50-7 with a third straight defeat, almost twenty years since his last bout against Kevin McBride. According to a man who had unlimited access to Tyson’s training camp, his friend Amer Abdallah, the youngest heavyweight champion’s ring career may not be over.

“As far as fighting [professionally] again, I don’t think that’s going to be something that he would consider,” Abdallah exclusively told WBN . “But at the end of the day, it’s Mike who is going to make that decision.

“Here’s one thing about Mike Tyson that I’ll tell you: Mike will make any decision that he feels is fit for his current situation. So, today, the answer might be no. But, next month, six months from now. The answer might be yes. It depends on what Mike wants to do and the mentality he’s in,” he added.

Abdallah said Tyson had been looking for a proper challenge for years for why he accepted a $20 million offer to face a 27-year-old influencer boxer opponent in Paul.

“He wanted the fight. And for the eight to ten weeks we were in training camp, he was busting his ass like he was 25 years old. He had that fire that he wanted to be in the gym. Discipline drove him to be there.

“I had the honor of being with him for the Roy Jones Jr card, and Badou fought just before Jake. Mike had fun in that fight. Maybe he’ll do exhibitions. It depends on what Mike wants to do. Mike does what he wants. He’s a living legend today. Whatever he’ll do, people will follow.

“Roy Jones at 52 years old, top 10 PPV events in the sport’s history. Then, Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul was the most viewed event of our time. Mike Tyson is Mike Tyson, man. He’s the guy,” concluded Abdallah.

Tyson was linked to a fight with Lennox Lewis before his poor performance at the AT&T Stadium. If the old rivals were to have a rematch, it undoubtedly would be under exhibition rules and not a serious fight.

However, despite the good numbers, Netflix would probably pass on any future Tyson events after being burned by the main event.

Iron Mike gives one-word verdict on Hotboxin’ podcast future

Almost 257 episodes later and a journey spanning almost five years, the Hotboxin’ podcast saw its closure earlier this year

The beloved podcast hosted by Mike Tyson had everything you would have liked: celebrity guests, unfiltered conversations and your favorite “Iron Mike“. But since it closed, fans have been wondering if there will be another edition of the show. Will the podcast return? The former world champion has dropped an important hint.

Will Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin’ be reborn?

Tyson, 58, had to end Hotboxin’ due to his other commitments. But his scheduled fight with Jake Paul was like a death sentence

He was finding it difficult to juggle his business ventures and the Hotboxin’ podcast. The added burden of training had a knock-on effect on the recording of the podcast. He stated earlier this year:Mike Tyson

So when Tyson, 50-7, appeared in an interview with FOX, the co-hosts were excited about the recent commercial success of the Paul vs. Tyson fight. They also wanted to know if the new popularity could help revive Hotboxin’. To this, Tyson explained how the podcast started. He said: “This is something fun. My wife got me into this. Yeah, it’s not that it doesn’t drive me crazy, I don’t love it. I love it like crazy. But I’m really good at it, yeah.”

After this, Brooklyn gave his one-word response as to whether fans could expect anything from the podcast soon. He continued: “Yes.” But will former co-host Eben Britton also return? We’re not sure. Before the podcast is dated, one might expect Tyson to appear in another Netflix venture: his docuseries.

The three-part docuseries will recall Tyson’s famous and infamous accolades and acts, which made him one of the most popular faces of all time. In the same conversation, he addressed the subject and added: “We’re working on it right now. We’re doing everything that’s about to come out of my new show. It will be on Netflix.”Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

When the series was announced, Tyson told Netflix: “Most people are too afraid to look at their lives objectively, wanting to paint themselves as the hero of their own story… Having the opportunity to share my story through the thoughtful lens of my growth and maturity… will be a challenging, but very welcome journey.”

You can expect three-hour-long episodes, which will consist of interviews with Tyson, his confidants and colleagues, and will give you an insight into his personal life and how he and his close friends saw his illustrious life unfold.

What do you think of these comments from Mike Tyson? Do you think fans will get another edition of Hotboxin’?

Mike Tyson is reportedly being sued in the U.K. after his loss to Jake Paul.

According to reports from multiple outlets, including Reuters, the former heavyweight champion, is being sued in a London court for $1.59 million for allegedly reneging on a deal to promote online casino and betting company Rabona after announcing his fight with Paul.

According to the report, the lawsuit was filed in October in London’s High Court, which states that Tyson and his company Tyrannic agreed to a promotional deal with Medier—the company that promotes Rabona—in January. The court records say that Tyson terminated the deal in March, which happened on the same day of the announcement of the original July 20 date for Tyson vs. Paul. A health scare for Tyson delayed the fight until Nov. 15, when Paul won via a lackluster unanimous decision.

The termination cause was stated to be due to Medier “breaching” the agreement, an allegation the company’s attorneys deny.Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

“The true reason for Mr. Tyson and Tyrannic’s hasty and unlawful termination was because Mr. Tyson had agreed to a deal, sponsored by Netflix, to fight the influencer Jake Paul,” per documents released in the Reuters report.

Tyson’s legal team also responded to the terms of the suit, and remain steadfast that their client will be on the correct side of the judgement after all of the facts are examined.

“Medier materially breached the terms of its agreement with Tyrannic multiple times by exceeding the scope of the restricted license that was granted, causing, among other things, financial and reputational damage to the company and Mr. Tyson,” Tyson’s legal team said in a statement via ESPN. “Tyrannic properly terminated the agreement and is confident that the Court will view this dispute in its favor.”

Tyson lost to Paul in an eight-round bout last month

After a month in the shadows following his loss to Jake Paul on Nov. 15Mike Tyson has re-emerged with aplomb.

Tyson‘s return to the ring was highly-anticipated, but 70,000 fans at AT&T Stadium — not to mention millions more watching at home on a constantly-buffering Netflix stream — will have been disappointed by Iron Mike‘s display. Despite a bright start, the 58-year-old Tyson struggled to match the 27-year-old Paul‘s energy and activity and landed far fewer blows — which led to a unanimous victory for Paul. A month on, Tyson has had the opportunity to recover in advance of a surprise announcement.

Tyson’s new series…on Netflix

Thank you for watching

In response to the relative broadcast success of the fight with Paul, Netflix has commissioned a new series centered on Tyson’s 1980s rise and his 1990s fall from grace after becoming heavyweight champion.Jake Paul Mike Tyson Netflix

“Having an opportunity to share my story through the reflective lens of my growth and maturity in a multi-part documentary on Netflix will be a challenging journey, yet a very welcoming one,” Tyson said in a statement about the upcoming three-part docuseries.

It appears that the new docuseries will take a critical look at Tyson’s life and career, which spiraled out of control in the early 1990s and led to a 1992 rape conviction that put him in prison for three years. But before then, Tyson was the dominant force in boxing; he became a heavyweight champion in 1986, at 20 years of age, and won the first 37 fights of his career.

“Most people are too scared to look at their lives objectively, wanting to paint themselves as the hero of their own story,” Tyson’s statement continued. “But if we are truly objective, we know we can never be the hero in our own story. We have to be able to face the man in the mirror, taking the good with the bad to give a full account of our contributions in this life. Netflix is the perfect platform to tell my story because of their global reach.”

In the meantime, Tyson was recently spotted in South Africa, travelling to promote his line of cannabis products known as “Tyson 2.0”. Through one ambitious venture or another, Iron Mike is ensuring he stays in the spotlight and keeps the cash flowing after years of financial issues.

Mike Tyson has made a terrifying admission about his fight against YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul.

In an eye-opening interview, the 58-year-old former heavyweight champ says he can barely remember the fight.

Paul won the bout via unanimous decision in a fight that drew widespread backlash with Tyson landing only 18 punches through eight rounds.

Now less than a month on from the contentious bout, Tyson has admitted he “blanked out” and can’t really recall anything from the fight.

“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little,” he told Fox Sports Radio.

“I remember coming back from the first round and Jake is doing some kind of … I don’t know what he was doing (leans forward pretending to bow) and that’s the last thing I remember.”

The moment Tyson is referencing came in the dying seconds of the final round when Paul bowed to his opponent as a show of respect.

Tyson was asked about the power of Paul, but again his memory is foggy … all he remembers is waking up the next day and being sore.

“I don’t remember it. But my body was really sore (after the fight). My chest, my stomach was really sore,” he said.

The baddest man on the planet said upon reflection the next day he couldn’t understand why he had just put himself through it all.

“The day after I woke up and said to my wife, ‘why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the hell was going on,” Tyson said.

The 58-year-old released a statement a day after the fight where he detailed the health issues he overcame to fulfil his goal of getting in the ring — something his kids didn’t get to see him do at the peak of his powers.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” the 58-year-old said.

“I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.

“I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs (11kg) in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

Jake Paul replied to the post: “Love you Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all.”

Mike Tyson‘s name conjures images of an unstoppable force—a gladiator in the ring, ferocious and unyielding. But even the mightiest warriors have their moments of doubt. In a surprising confession at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, Mike Tyson pulled back the curtain on his indomitable persona, revealing that he once teetered on the edge of quitting mid-fight.

You see, ‘Iron’ Mike was headlining ‘The Art of Fighting’ panel presented by TEKKEN 8, a video game developed by the brilliant minds of Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. The panel brought together real-world champions, including Cris Cyborg, and WWE Superstar Xavier Woods a.k.a. Austin Creed, to discuss shared themes and look at how fight techniques have evolved.

Regardless, a clip from this event has resurfaced on the internet once again, as boxing reporter, Elie Seckbach, reposted the clip on Instagram, giving fans a blast from the past. This comes weeks after 58-year-old Tyson lost a unanimous decision 10-round fight to YouTube star Jake Paul in Arlington, Texas.

Responding to a fan’s question during the panel, Tyson recollected his bout against Mark Young all the way back in December 1985. “My second 10-round fight—the guy wasn’t that great of a fighter, really,” Tyson said. “But he hit me in the stomach a couple of times and it hurt and I wanted to stop.”

The former heavyweight champion claimed despite the pain from Young’s punches, he didn’t quit and went on to win. In fact, Tyson won that fight via 1st round knockout—it was his 15th consecutive knockout win. He would go on to knockout his next four opponents as well before recording his first unanimous decision win over James Tillis in 1986.

Coming back to Tyson’s story, Tyson claimed despite his spectacular win, the punches left him unable to walk for three days. “I was proud that I didn’t stop and I fought back, but I couldn’t walk for three days,” Tyson recalled. This prompted the fan to guess that Tyson tried to avoid body shots from then on. But the reality was different.

“No, not really, but I know I can take them now,” Tyson quickly corrected the fan. Meanwhile, Tyson has revealed something interesting about his bout against Jake Paul.

Mike Tyson has dismissed claims that age slowed him down during his recent fight against Jake Paul. Despite losing via unanimous decision, the 58-year-old insisted he wasn’t fatigued during the eight-round bout, his first in almost 20 years. “Magically, it just happened so quick,” Tyson told 7News“Eight rounds were over fast. I wasn’t tired, I wasn’t sweating. I didn’t understand that.”

The fight, which Tyson’s son Amir called his father’s ‘best effort’ at this stage of his life, fueled rumors of being rigged—claims Amir denied. “His gas tank after the third round was just shot,” Amir clarified to Seconds Out“He did the best he could at his age.” While Tyson appears retired for good, he remains optimistic about the future, saying, “The sky is the limit. I’m very grateful to be able to do everything that I want to do in this and beyond.”

Jake Paul, who defeated former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson last month, lost to Tommy Fury back in February and the pair have been linked with a rematch ever since

Jake Paul has stated he would be open to a rematch with Tommy Fury, but only under the condition of a 12-round boxing fight.

The YouTuber-turned-professional-boxer’s sole defeat in the ring was handed to him by Fury during their bout in Saudi Arabia back in February 2023. Speculation about a potential rematch has been circulating, and both fighters’ schedules are currently clear.

Fury recently scrapped his match with Darren Till after the former UFC fighter threatened to use MMA tactics, which Fury dismissed as “stupid”. This could pave the way for a rematch with Paul, who promptly took to social media to state his terms: “Only if it’s 12 rounds.”

Their first encounter was an eight-round cruiserweight match. Fury has previously expressed his willingness to face Paul again, telling ESPN: “In a heartbeat, yeah. I mean at the end of the day I think me and him, we’re set in stone. He’s only got one defeat and that’s to me, so it’s inevitable that we are going to get back in the ring.

“I know I’m going to be an improved fighter and with him the [fights] he’s taking and what he’s doing, I’m not sure if he’s going to improve that much.”

Paul’s most recent victory saw him defeat Mike Tyson in another shortened match. The heavyweight legend came out of retirement to face an opponent decades his junior, and the age difference ultimately played a role as Paul secured his win on points.

Paul has already expressed his desire to face a high-profile opponent next, with a potential bout against Canelo being discussed. However, B.J. Flores, Paul’s former trainer, has advised him to only consider a rematch with Fury if the financial terms are favorable.

Mike Tyson

He tole The Sun: “Tommy’s unreasonable with the money and he’s unreasonable with what he’s worth. So I don’t feel like it’s mandatory for Jake to fight Tommy again before anybody else. If it made sense business-wise, if not then no.

“Tommy’s not gonna get an opportunity like that with anybody else in the world. Trust me, that’ll will never come Tommy’s way again. So if he’s reasonable on the money and reasonable on the price, yeah, get the fight again.”

Paul has fought 12 times since starting his professional boxing career in 2020, but most of those bouts have been against former MMA fighters.

The 27-year-old has recorded victories against Ali Eson Gib, Nate Robinson, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley (twice), Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Andre August, Ryan Bourland, Mike Perry, and Tyson. Paul may be tempted to fight Fury again and avenge his only defeat.

Mike Tyson is being sued for allegedly breaching a commercial deal to fight Jake Paul.

Tyson fought Jake Paul last month at the AT&T Stadium in Texas in front of 70,000 fans, but lost by points in what was a disappointing affair.

The heavyweight blockbuster was broadcast live on Netflix as many fans were left disappointed considering 58-year-old Tyson landed just 18 punches the entire bout.

Medier is a Cyprus-registered company that promotes Rabona Sportsbook & Online Casino, and according to ESPN, they are suing the former heavyweight champion and his company Tyrannic for nearly $1.59 million (£1.25 million).Jake Paul V Mike Tyson

They have accused Tyson of allegedly breaking a deal to promote a gambling company in order to fight the YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Paul.

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis thought Mike Tyson lost in more ways than one in his highly anticipated fight with Jake Paul.

Davis responded affirmatively when asked whether Tyson’s performance against Paul “tarnished” his legacy in the ring. He added that the legendary heavyweight competed “for some money.”

Davis’ ire hasn’t been reserved for just Tyson’s camp. He called Paul “a whole bozo” for putting the whole thing together.

Nobody expected to see prime Iron Mike step between the ropes in November, but he looked pretty good in training for a 58-year-old. He seemingly had enough punching power to inflict some pain on the much younger Paul.Mike Tyson

Instead, Tyson connected with just 18 total punches across the eight rounds. He mounted so little offense that Most Valuable Promotions issued a statement refuting the notion the fight was rigged.

As it relates to Tyson’ wider career, though, it’s hard to “tarnish” a legacy that was already damaged to begin with.

There was the shocking upset to Buster Douglas in 1990. Evander Holyfield beat him by TKO in 1996 and then Tyson infamously was disqualified in the rematch when he bit a chunk off Holyfield’s ear. He was also thoroughly outclassed by Lennox Lewis in their long-awaited meeting in 2002.Gervonta Davis

And that’s just the boxing portion.

Tyson was convicted of rape in 1992, and he was allegedly physically abusive toward ex-wife Robin Givens.

To the extent it warrants any mention at all, the Paul fight will be a footnote in Tyson’s life and times.
