Jake Paul’s mother is terrified at the prospect of her son duking out with Mike Tyson.

‘The Problem Child’ is set to face Tyson on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in a professional heavyweight contest.

They were initially scheduled to square off on July 20 but their fight got postponed by four months after ‘Iron Mike’ was deemed medically unfit to compete this summer following an ulcer flare up.

Tyson’s recent illness combined with the staggering 31 year age difference between the pair has led several members of the boxing fraternity to raise concerns about the potential health implications he faces in taking the fight.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion is 58 years old while Paul is in his physical prime at 27 – although you wouldn’t believe Tyson was a middle-aged man when watching his recent training footage.

Tyson has uploaded several videos to social media of him hammering the pads with the kind of speed and precision one would expect from a pro boxer in their 20s.

Most of these clips are five second snippets and we are yet to see how Tyson looks over a two minute round, which would give a much better idea of the kind of condition he is in.

However, it’s enough to have Paul’s mum, Pam Stepnick, fearing for her son’s health – even if it won’t stop her from attending the Netflix showdown with Paul’s girlfriend Jutta Leerdam.

“They will definitely be there,” said Paul at a Washington DC PFL press event that talkSPORT.com attended.

“But my mum is very scared actually. She keeps on asking me if I’m ready, asking my team if I’m if I’m ready and she’s not liking this one.

“Mike just looks scary and big… his Instagram videos look crazy. So she’s like watching all of that and just not liking it.”

Paul is set to pocket $40m (£31m) for his upcoming clash with Tyson, taking his overall earnings in boxing up to around $100m (£75.8m).

This is a staggering achievement for a YouTuber who only turned over as a professional boxer four years ago.

“Not bad at all, man, I can’t believe it,” Paul added of his career earnings.

“I’ve already exceeded all my own expectations in life and boxing and everything.

“So whatever happens next is just gravy and I’m just having fun with it and trying to inspire other kids because I’m literally from Ohio.

“Middle of this town grew up with a blue collar family and didn’t know what any of this world is.

“And so it really shows like if you want to do something, you just gotta go for it.”

Jake Paul will take on heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in November in a fight which has divided boxing fans

Jake Paul has compared himself to Tyson Fury ahead of his controversial fight with Mike Tyson.

Paul was due to take on heavyweight legend Tyson last month but the rivals were forced to postpone the bout until November when Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up. Paul instead took on bare-knuckle fighter and former UFC star Mike Perry, knocking him out in the sixth round.

Before losing weight in order to fight Perry, Paul claimed to have bulked up to 230lb in preparation for facing former undisputed world champion Tyson. That led to the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ branding the YouTube

“It’s peak male performance bod, and that is fat,” he said on his podcast. “I mean look at Tyson Fury for example. He is just a big old milk jug and look what he’s done.” Fury, whose brother Tommy handed Paul his only career defeat last year, is preparing for his own fight later this year, his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

Before Paul’s fight with Tyson was postponed in May, the latter said: “I don’t know if he’s in his prime. He’s fat. He should be lean and mean and he’s fat and funky. I saw him with his shirt off though and he’s fat.”

Paul responded to Tyson’s jibe by saying: “Hey, Buster Douglas was fat. Am I right? I know, but you know Buster Douglas, I’m better. I’m going to end you quicker than he did and you’ll remember that forever. You started me off. I appreciate that. Mike, I love you. I love you like a father loves his son, but I must discipline you. You’re going down, man.”

Tyson has not fought since a bore draw in his exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr in 2020 while his last professional fight saw him quit on his stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride almost 20 years ago.

At 58, he is 30 years Paul’s senior, but insists he can KO the social media star. “We’ve got a YouTuber fighting the greatest fighter who ever lived. He may have been in the ring with people who have the same intentions, but the actuality, no. As soon as I catch this guy its going to be totally over, he’ going to run.”

Hollywood star Russell Crowe recently chatted with the infamous Joe Rogan and shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

Originally scheduled for July 20, the controversial match between Tyson and Paul was canceled due to a flare-up of stomach ulcers plaguing ‘Iron Mike’. Paul was quick to accept a fight with former UFC fighter turned BKFC star Mike Perry, and Paul would leave the ring as the victor after knocking out his opponent in the sixth round.

Now scheduled for November 15, the Tyson vs. Paul fight remains a spectacle that has divided many fans and fighters alike. Many believe the age gap between the 58-year-old boxing legend and young 27-year-old upstart is too prolific. Others, however, are not ready to count ‘Iron Mike’ out and attest to how much of a different beast the man is.

Speaking to Joe Rogan, Russell Crowe delved into the enigma that is the legend of Mike Tyson. He spoke on the man’s prowess and admitted that he could still do some damage despite his age.

”58-year-old Mike Tyson is not 50-year-old Mike Jones that lives down the street,” Crowe said. “It’s a different kind of human being. He can still knock your head into another dimension if he can catch you.”

”I was terrified of him as a boxer,” Russell Crowe continued. “He was terrifying. Even when I met him backstage at a stadium one time at a fight, I was like, ‘I’m still terrified of you’…What bothers me with this whole thing is that he’s got to kind of slide back into that warrior, and I’m just not sure that he needed to do it.”

In almost three months, Jake Paul (10-1, 7 KOs) will make the worst mistake of his life (once again) by facing the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ Mike Tyson (50-6-2, 44 KOs).

The duo was initially set to face each other on July 20, however, the fight had to be postponed after Tyson’s health scare. With the fight date quickly approaching (November 15), Tyson is confident that he would make Paul regret his decision to step inside the ring with him.

Tyson and Paul recently kicked off their rescheduled bout with a press conference in New York City. During the presser, Tyson was asked if he was fit to fight Paul despite the age difference. “Who else can do it but me? Let’s look at it: who else is he going to fight to make this happen? You just have to listen to the facts. We got a YouTuber fighting the greatest fighter that ever lived,” he responded.

This, however, did not sit well with Paul, who stated that he was the reason the fight reached fruition. Moreover, he mentioned that other fighters have refused to look at him as anything other than a content creator. “I brought this deal to this old a– motherf—–. We signed the contract with Netflix, and I brought him the deal. So, you’re welcome, my son. I’m going to discipline you like a son. So shut the f— up,” he said.

Paul further went on to take digs at Tyson by calling him a “mitt warrior” and stating that Tyson is incapable of recreating the magic inside the ring anymore. Tyson, on the other hand, warned Paul that the reality of the fight is going to be a lot different than what he had in mind. “Listen, as soon as I catch this guy, he’s going to be running around. As soon as I catch this guy, it’s going to be totally over,” Tyson said. “He’s going to run like a thief.”

It sure looks like Paul’s comments at the press conference have not sat well with UFC legend Michael Bisping. Talking on his YouTube channel, Bisping mentioned that Paul’s statements have sent his public image on a downhill trajectory.

“Jake, I hate to point out the obvious; that makes you look pathetic. You just admitted that you’re going up against an old man, who is a legend, of course, but he’s not that guy anymore,” Bisping said. Jake Paul, he’s just a total tool bag. I’m not going to lower myself and swear. Look at him. It’s nice to see that he’s finally getting booed and the kind of response that he deserves.”

Is Jake Paul a threat to Mike Tyson?

As far as the boxing community is concerned, people are split. While some believe ‘The Problem Child’ poses a real problem for ‘Iron’ Mike, others feel the upcoming November 15 fight would be a walk in the park for the former heavyweight champion. However, the question is, what does ‘The Baddest Man on the Plant’ think?

With over two months remaining in the cross-generational showdown at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Tyson appeared on Logan Paul‘s popular YouTube podcast, Impaulsive. During the episode, Tyson, now 58, discussed how, despite him taking Jake Paul seriously, most fans don’t share his opinion, all this while explaining why Paul is capable of killing him.

Speaking to the former world champion, known for his ferocity in the ring, Logan Paul claimed he was nervous for Mike Tyson, stating, “He’s a real killer, Mike.” He went on to reveal that Jake Paul wanted to be a “Navy Seal” before he started boxing, remarking, “he wanted to go kill people” for his country, trying to emphasize the threat Paul really poses.

Logan’s co-host Mike Majlak quickly jumped in to suggest the Problem Child—who has barely started his professional boxing career—posing a threat to Iron Mike might be a “tough pill to swallow” for Tyson’s fans who look up to him as one of the best ever. This prompted a response from Mike Tyson, who suggested that he was fearful of a lot of things and a lot of people, and Paul was no exception.

“I’m fearful of my 13-year-old son. This is what I learned through my 58 years of experience. Anyone’s capable of killing you,” Tyson confessed. He elaborated further, explaining that his life experiences had taught him that anyone could potentially “kill you,” implying that Jake Paul is no different from anyone else in that regard.

“That’s how I look at people. They’re all capable of killing you,” Tyson added. However, this doesn’t mean Mike Tyson has any intention of just letting Jake Paul steamroll through him like Paul has done to his other opponents in the past.

While Paul might be a “killer” as his brother suggests, Mike has been planning for Paul’s wake.

Back in June, Mike Tyson sent a chilling warning to Jake Paul following the postponement of their highly anticipated fight. Originally scheduled for July 20th, the bout was pushed to November 15th after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up during a cross-country flight. Despite the setback, Tyson made it clear that the delay wouldn’t change the outcome.

In a video posted on X captioned, “Jake’s new wake date. Nov. 15th,” the legendary boxer delivered a stark message to Paul, “Different date. Same fate. I’m going to knock out Jake Paul.” Tyson’s warning left no doubt about his intentions, as he vowed to resume training and prepare for the new date with the same ferocity. The bout will see Tyson return to the ring for the first time since his 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.

That said, while Mike Tyson is not taking Jake Paul lightly, his response suggests he will tackle ‘The Problem Child’ in the same way he has done in the past against much more formidable opponents.

The boxing legend means business.

Looking at the list of opponents Jake Paul defeated, Mike Tyson knows he’s different and it’s not because he’s an accomplished boxing legend.

It’s because he doesn’t view Paul as a YouTuber at all ahead of their November 15 fight on Netflix. Tyson views Paul as a fighter and one who he is taking seriously.

“Forget what everyone says ‘this guy’s a YouTuber,’” Tyson told Logan Paul on the IMPAULSIVE podcast. “This guy’s a fighter. I’ve been many things too but I’m a fighter. I’m an actor, I’m a salesman, I’m an entrepreneur but we’re fighters. That’s who we really are. Him, too.

“I’m apprehensive and scary so I’m totally different than them.”

It’s for that reason that Tyson is taking Paul seriously.

“I take him extremely seriously,” Tyson said. “These people don’t take him seriously.”

He added: “That’s how I look at people — they’re all capable of killing you. My objective is like that — they’re capable of killing me, I don’t sleep on them. I’m not overconfident with anybody in life.”

Tyson playfully pushed Paul during their New York City press conference Sunday but told Logan that he loves his brother and that their November 15 bout is strictly business.

“This is what’s going to happen to make everything short: Two men are going to fight, somebody’s going to win, they might fight again and then they go to their separate banks and life goes on,” Tyson said.

“This is beautiful, man. This is what the world really needs right now. I know it looks crazy, you

look at a YouTube guy, you look at me, but look at what we brought here (referencing the New York City press conference crowd), look at what we did. That’s not funny at all.”

Tyson is 58-years-old to Paul’s 27.

Jake Paul confronts Mike Tyson on major rule change the boxing legend personally requested for their upcoming fight, as Iron Mike coldly warns ranting YouTuber to ‘be careful’

Jake Paul has revealed the reason for the shorter 2-minute rounds in his upcoming fight with Mike Tyson.

At the pre-fight press conference in New York, Paul and Tyson engaged in a heated exchange, with the 27-year-old YouTuber disclosing that the former world heavyweight champion requested eight rounds of two minutes each.

The conflict followed another intense conference, during which Paul compared himself to Muhammad Ali and was later shoved by Tyson.

Previously, the fight was postponed due to Tyson suffering from an ulcer flare-up.

However, Tyson has now stated he is in good physical form for the fight on November 15, threatening Paul with the words: ‘Be in shape, be in good shape because your health depends on it.’

It was just a matter of time before Paul would grab the mic and respond to the boxing legend’s statement: ‘You’re the one that wanted eight, two-minute rounds,’ said the Youtuber, revealing Tyson’s demands for the fight.

He later confidently claimed that he was willing to increase the duration of each round: ‘Want to make it eight or threes? Don’t talk to me about shape.’

In response, Tyson said calmly to ‘be careful.’

Paul then countered: ‘That’s the thing, everyone is all talk. I’ll do whatever, wherever, whenever, it’s all talk.

‘Put it on the line. I’m stating facts, he’s s*** talking.’

The boxing clash – shown exclusively by Netflix, which gained broadcast rights – will endure another rule modification in addition to the change in round duration.

Paul and Tyson will be wearing 14oz gloves instead of the standard 10oz gloves used by professional boxers.

Their fight was sanctioned under the auspices of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations with a revised rule set.

Despite the criticism surrounding the match, Tyson was warmly received at Fanatics Fest NYC, while his opponent was infuriated by boos and offensive chants from the crowd.

That prompted Paul to turn on the fans, shouting: ‘F*** you, New York. ‘You’re just like Mike Tyson, you were good 20 years ago.’

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will have their headlining boxing event this fall.

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is back on following a postponement back in May due to medical issues from Tyson. Both Paul and Tyson held an official press conference in New York to discuss the fight which is now set for November 15 on Netflix, and Paul took on the heel role quickly.

“Making history, this is what it’s all about for me,” Paul said to a rain of boos from the New York crowd. “New York, you’re just like Mike Tyson, you were good 20 years ago,” Paul shot back at the hostile crowd. “F—k you, New York.”

Shortly after Paul would take aim a Tyson for having their fight postponed as he dealt with some health issues.

“You had to go on your little menopause break and postpone the fight, so yeah, what about that, dog? I was ready before, you needed a little break. Your tummy hurt still?

“He’s vicious, he’s a killer, I know all of these things. He has one punch knockout power, he’s the greatest heavyweight of all time, but I will prove on November 15 all the haters wrong.”

Paul would continue to goad Tyson and tell him that he has absolutely no fear about what they’re about to get into, and you can check out some video highlights from the press event at the link at the top courtesy of Fight Hub TV.

Mike Tyson will take on Jake Paul in November in his first fight in four years – and his first professional bout since 2005

UFC star Michael Chandler admits nobody wants to see Mike Tyson knocked out by Jake Paul.

Tyson will lock horns with YouTuber Paul in November after their fight was pushed back from its original July date when Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up in May. Tyson has not fought professionally since he quit on his stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride in 2005. His last outing was a bore draw in an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

Paul has won 10 of his 11 professional bouts and most recently stopped bare-knuckle boxer and former UFC Mike Perry in the sixth round last month. He is the favourite to beat Tyson and will enjoy a 30-year age advantage in the ring in Texas later this year – and Chandler fears fans will be left disappointed if the social media star wins by stoppage.

“Jake Paul fought Mike Perry, who he outweighed by 20 pounds or so and had four inches of height on. And now it’s Mike Tyson, who is 30 years older. Mike Tyson’s about 60, and Jake’s about 30,” Chandler told Lucky Block. “I love Mike Tyson. Nobody wants to see Mike Tyson get knocked out. But everybody wants to see Mike Tyson catch Jake Paul and knock him out. So I mean, you’re going to watch it. I’m going to watch it. It’s great for a fun—not taking boxing seriously, if you will—fight night, and I’ll probably watch it.”

Paul stopped former UFC stars Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley early in his career and Chandler didn’t rule out seeking revenge for his fellow mixed martial artists. “It was tough to see them both lose; I was pumped to see both of them. But Jake Paul knew exactly who he was picking for these fights. He knows exactly the age, the size, the skill level,” he added. “It has been said by many people that there’s only one more Mizzou Tiger that Jake Paul needs to get through, and obviously, I’m the smallest one out of them all, so I’m sure he would love to fight a guy who outweighs by 30 pounds.”

“I’ve got nothing against Jake Paul. I think what he’s done has been great. Obviously, him and Dana have their little tiff, but I think Jake Paul’s just doing Jake Paul. He loves to be the problem child. He loves to promote. And he loves what he is doing. He is living a dream, but I would never rule it out, so to speak. But, man, I am fully focused on winning UFC gold. Whether that’s running through Conor [McGregor] or that is pivoting and finding somebody else to get to that gold. So right now, I’m a UFC fighter, and I very much enjoy it, because it is the most legitimate fighting organisation and style of fighting in the world today.”

Canelo Alvarez stands at the pinnacle of the boxing world.

There might not be any name as big as his in the boxing community right now, and the gold straps around his waist only add to his allure. But the IBF took one of them from him for not fighting his mandatory William Scull. The Mexican champion believes he made himself championship-worthy, not the other way around.

Alvarez, 34, has faced flak for not fighting the name the fans want him to face, David Benavidez. But with four straps and only two fights a year, he could only do so much. What’s more? He believes he has fought his way to stardom and now deserves to have his way. Alvarez, at 61-2-2, has questioned the IBF’s decision to take away his title as he weighs it against his popularity and his title of ‘face of boxing’. Did Scull fit the bill as his opponent? Did fans want to see the fight?

Alvarez doubted that. He expressed the same when he sat down for an interview with ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game’. Drawing parallels with the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mike Tyson, he pointed out that all the superstars fought, whom they thought were better for their business and resume, not for holding onto their championships after they had cemented their hold on the top. The Guadalajara native said, “[Oscar] De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, Julio Cesar Chavez, Mike Tyson, everybody did this. There are stars and superstars, and they made the championship, not the championship made them.”

“The IBF [says], ‘Hey, you need to fight with this because this.’ Who’s [William] Scull? I never hear about him… I’m not gonna do whatever they want, I want to do what I want. In this position, I can do whatever I want. Because I deserve it, because of all I did,” Alvarez added.

While he is one of the biggest stars in the boxing world, he will go against the Noche UFC on the same weekend, as both events share the same date. But he has confidence in his fan base, his fame, and his name.

In the same interview, Alvarez shed light on sharing the same night as Noche UFC, which will happen a few blocks away from his fight in T-Mobile Arena. The UFC has booked the Sphere and has already spent $17 million on the promotion. But the super middleweight champion is undeterred. He declared, “Maybe other boxing matches, maybe, but Canelo is different. There are other kind of fights, but Canelo is just different. I don’t care if the UFC is there, when Canelo fights, it’s different.”

It remains to be seen how well Alvarez’s fight with Edgar Berlanga fares on the business side of things. The fans have asked questions about his decision to fight Berlanga, but he looks to cash in on the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry to make the event successful. Will his plan be successful?
