In the last few days, the fans have seen substantial developments in the Ryan Garcia–Devin Haney rivalry.

The duo has been at odds since their fight in the summer of 2024 after which KingRy was found guilty of using PEDs. The Victorville native faced a year-long suspension, followed by Haney’s battery, fraud, and breach of contract lawsuit filed against him. However, during the Ring Magazine Awards in London, His Excellency Turki Alalshikhstepped in and convinced the duo to reach a momentary ceasefire.

The Saudi Royal even convinced ‘The Dream’ to put a 90-day pause on his lawsuit against Garcia so they could settle their difference inside a ring. While Garcia and Haney agreed to a rematch, several reports came out suggesting plans for a trilogy. However, on Saturday, HE Alalshikh came out with a new update, putting an end to the trilogy rumors.

Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney Rematch Date Revealed But Will Only Happen Under One Condition

HE Turki Alalshikh took to his ‘X’ to make a huge announcement regarding Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia’s future. He wrote, “It is easy…fight in may then the big rematch in October and in the same card we will try Teo against BOOTS,” confirming that the duo will fight different opponents on the same card in May followed by a rematch in October. His Excellency also revealed his plans for getting Teofimo Lopez vs. Jaron Ennis on the same card in October.

During the Ring Magazine Awards, HE Alalshikh made waves when he signed Ryan Garcia for a three-match contract. While many fans believed that the 24-1 fighter would make his comeback against Devin Haney, the post confirmed that the duo are pegged to fight different opponents on the same card in early May.

TURKI Alalshikh

His Excellency then put an end to the trilogy talks and claimed that the winners of the two main matches from the October card would face each other and losers would do the same in February 2026. “Then the winner against the winner and loser against loser in February…need to discuss with our partners top rank and matchroom and goldenboy and PBC 🥊🔥,” declared the Saudi Royal.

While the Chairman of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) confirmed that he needs to sort it out with the promotional company first, given his relations and sway in combat sports right now, it should not be a problem. While the Saudi Royal has not completely denied the idea of a trilogy, the new planned timelines make it rather impossible. Furthermore, only yesterday, the Victorville native came out revealing his next opponent to be Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, while indirectly taking a dig at Devin Haney who will be, according to reports facing former unified light welterweight champion Jose Ramirez.

The 27-year-old took to his ‘X’ to reveal his likely opponent for his comeback fight in May. He wrote, “I’m bringing an explosive fight in my fight comeback. Pitbull has always been considered a tough opponent. Tougher matchup than Haney, tbh,” adding fuel to the already heated rivalry.

The matchup was surprising as earlier reports claimed that Garcia might be facing Teofimo Lopez. However, despite the change in opponents, Pitbull is still a tough competition and he might even defeat Ryan Garcia given his power and relentless pressure-fighting style. We saw how badly the Victorville native fared against powerful opponents like Gervonta Davis. If that fight is any indication, Garcia might have dug his own grave.

These fights are HE Turki Alalshikh’s vision of making the best fights possible regardless of the result. The Saudi Royal spoke about how he wants to follow the UFC model, where the best fighters keep fighting despite losing frequently. If that is the case, it might not matter if Ryan Garcia loses against the former WBA super lightweight champion or not. But if it affects his rematch with Devin Haney, then this might be his biggest mistake.

Ryan Garcia says he will fight Isaac Cruz in his next fight in May following the conclusion of his boxing ban.

Garcia was given a year ban after failing VADA tests for Ostarine against Devin Haney. He was prevented from boxing until April 2025 as his majority decision win was overturned. Garcia was adamant that he had not taken any substances intentionally. Meanwhile, his camp also argued that the amount in his system was insufficient to enhance performance. There have been talks over a Haney rematch, with reports that it could take place later in October.

Haney would have to drop his lawsuit, which he has done. Meanwhile, Garcia would be required to undergo VADA testing. Reports indicate that these hurdles have been overcome, with both sides agreeing to those stipulations. But before that can happen, Garcia must prepare for one of the biggest fights of his career.

Ryan Garcia Says He Is Fighting Isaac Cruz In May

He had been linked with the Cruz fight before he faced Haney last April. But Cruz pulled out at the last minute as he later went on to face Rolando Romero. Cruz won the WBA Junior Welterweight Title with a stoppage win over Romero. But he lost the belt in his last fight, coming up short against Jose Valenzuela. A win over Cruz will likely help Garcia secure the Haney rematch. Haney is also on course to return in April on BLK Prime. Reports indicate that Adrien Broner is the leading opponent.

Garcia cannot afford to overlook Cruz, who only has two losses in his career. The other one was against Gervonta Davis. But he was praised for managing to go the distance against a knockout artist. Garcia knows he will be in a tough fight since Cruz is known for coming forward. He is also known for having a solid chin and durability, which has drawn him comparisons with Mike Tyson.

But Garcia will want to remind fans that he is a knockout artist, as he possesses a devastating left hook. If Cruz continues to move forward, Garcia will have a bigger target to aim for. It will also help prepare him for any Haney rematch since it will remove any ring rust that he may have suffered during his time out.

“Yes, In May. We’re going to be fighting there. It’ll be good. Another big fight. I’m ready to do it. Pitbull is still a great fighter. He may have lost one time [correction: 3 times], but fans love him. He’s a big f****. There were so many people in London, and they were all meeting with Turki. It’s nuts.

“Times Square, yes. Me and Pitbull were going to fight in many occasions. It never went down. I feel this is a fight that fans wanted for a long time until he [Pitbull Cruz] lost [to Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela on August 3rd]. I don’t think it should make no difference. He’s still an explosive fighter. Rayo boxed a great fighter, so you can’t take anything away from him either,” Garcia said

An anticipated rematch between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia is almost a done deal.

This comes after Haney officially dropped his lawsuit against Garcia from their first meeting.

Remember, the two stars collided in April 2024 in one of the biggest boxing matches of the year. Despite being an underdog, Garcia stunned Haney with multiple knockdowns en route to a majority decision win. It was a huge upset and a performance that solidified Garcia’s status within the sport.

Unfortunately, Garcia would go on to fail pre and post-fight drug tests. As a result, Garcia had his victory overturned to a no contest and was suspended from boxing for one year. Haney, who was undefeated entering his clash with Garcia, took things one step further and filed a lawsuit against “King Ry” for alleged battery, fraud, and unjust enrichment.

Luckily for boxing fans, a Monday report has revealed that Haney has dropped his case against Garcia. In exchange, Garcia has agreed to VADA drug testing for a potential rematch, which is all Haney needs to sign the dotted line. The writing appears to be on the wall.

“A very reliable source told me that Devin Haney has officially dropped his lawsuit against Ryan Garcia IF he agrees to do VADA. Garcia has agreed to do VADA and the rematch is on!”

Haney also took took to social media to indicate the rematch is in the works. Check it out below:

Haney

“I guess he’s not a duck.. he’s a goose. See u soon bucko!”

Devin Haney wants an ‘even playing ground’ if he is to take a rematch with Ryan Garcia following their controversial contest earlier this year.

Haney was set to put his WBC Super-Lightweight World Title on the line against Garcia in April this year, but, following an erratic build-up, Garcia missed weight and was ineligible to win the belt. A deal was struck for the fight to go ahead and Garcia would upset the odds, knocking Haney down three times to win a majority decision.

That was overturned to a no-contest when it was discovered Garcia had twice tested positive for banned substance Ostarine. He was also banned for a year by the New York State Athletic Commission and Haney has since brought legal action for battery, fraud and breach of contract.

Ryan Garcia Responds To Devin Haney’s One Major Demand For Rematch: “It’s Unethical”

Speaking to the media at a London open workout, Haney advised his former foe to follow his lead and sign up to year-round Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency random testing before re-entering the sport when his ban is up this April.

“I think he should sign up for the 24/7 VADA programme, show he’s a clean athlete and then get back to boxing … Of course [I would have a rematch with him], not next obviously because I’m back in March, but it’s definitely possible for 2025.”

Asked about the rematch by IFL TV, Haney said:

“If he’s clean, yeah. We want an even playing ground. I think that’s important. I’m an advocate for it, because being cheated, actually experiencing someone on PEDs. I took the lead and made myself get tested 24/7, 365 because I feel like that’s the proper steps to clean up the sport of boxing. Garcia ain’t the only one taking PEDs, it’s a lot of other people doing it.”

Garcia also wants the return fight, however he has taken to X, formerly Twitter, to announce that he will never be using VADA, the industry standard for top-level fights, again.

“It’s getting really strange why it’s always VADA can we get some other organisations to test? Cause you got Bill [Haney] pushing only VADA, never says any other organisations and it’s strange he’s pushing a certain organisation. Don’t you just want any kind of testing. All this sounds like the people pushing to use VADA are getting some type of cut money wise to have people use VADA. Seems unethical. This is just my opinion.”

” … I will always state my innocence. I’m clean but that organisation I will never use again.”

Whether the pair will ever settle the rivalry remains to be seen, but there is likely too much money at stake for it not to happen at one stage.

2024 has been nothing short of a landmark year for boxing!

While it may not rival the Golden Era of Boxing—that unforgettable stretch from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s when legends like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, and George Foreman captivated the world with blockbuster bouts that transcended sports—it’s undeniable that boxing is experiencing a thrilling resurgence. This revival owes much to recent shifts in how the boxing business is managed and the caliber of matchups being delivered.

These changes are reigniting the passion of fans who once fell in love with the sport’s drama and spectacle. At the heart of this resurgence is one pivotal figure, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh. Yet, even with the exciting momentum, there are still dream fights that the boxing world is yearning for. With hope and anticipation, we’ve compiled a list of matchups we’d love to see. Here’s to Alalshikh working his magic once again to turn these fantasies into reality!

Canelo Alvarez vs. David Benavidez

Canelo Alvarez is undeniably a legend of the sport—a fighter who has faced some of the finest talent boxing has to offer during his illustrious career. However, as he approaches the twilight of his journey, ‘Cinnamon’ has seemingly chosen a safer path, prioritizing lucrative paydays over high-risk challenges. Thanks to his immense name recognition and carefully cultivated leverage, he’s managed to turn this strategy into a profitable venture.

The biggest casualty of Canelo Alvarez’s selective matchmaking has been David Benavidez. For over a year, ‘The Mexican Monster’ stood as Canelo’s WBC mandatory challenger at super middleweight. Yet, Canelo repeatedly denied Benavidez the opportunity to make history—or to silence his critics by taking on one of the division’s most dangerous fighters. Frustrated and unable to secure the fight, Benavidez was forced to shift his focus to the light heavyweight division, seeking opportunities that eluded him at super middleweight.

Canelo has even gone as far as to demand an unprecedented $200 million purse to face Benavidez—a staggering figure that underscores the challenges in making this fight a reality. While not impossible, such a bout seems unlikely for now. Meanwhile, Benavidez is set to take on David Morrell on February 1st in Las Vegas. Should he emerge victorious, a shot at the undisputed light heavyweight title could be next on his horizon.

Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney 2

At the start of this year, Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney delivered a thrilling showdown that had fans buzzing about a potential rematch. In a shocking turn, Garcia dominated Haney, dropping him three times before securing a majority decision win. However, the celebration was short-lived as Garcia later tested positive for Ostarine.

The victory was overturned to a no-contest, Garcia was fined his entire purse, and he received a suspension lasting over a year. The fallout didn’t stop there—Haney sued Garcia, citing battery and breach of contract, escalating the tension between the two fighters.

The animosity between Garcia and Haney has deep roots, stemming from their six amateur bouts. With both fighters eager to settle the score, a rematch in 2025—potentially in Saudi Arabia—could reignite their storied rivalry, setting the stage for one of boxing’s most dramatic comebacks.

However, Turki Alalshaikh has one condition Garcia has to meet for the fight to happen. “First of all, I like Ryan Garcia, and second, I want to do a big fight with him,” Alalshikh told Charlie Parsons. “But I’ll tell you my situation now… I’m against drugs and everything, I said to Ryan Garcia ‘You must pass the test and clear yourself’ and I’m waiting for you and this is fair.”

Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford

After or before Benavidez, the fans wouldn’t really mind, Canelo Alvarez needs to face Terence Crawford. ‘Bud’ has been lobbying for the fight since he defeated Errol Spence Jr. last year, emerging as the first male boxer to achieve undisputed status in two different weight classes. The Nebraska technician even agreed to climb up to the super middleweight division.

All this in an effort to make his last fight in the sport a big payday! However, Canelo Alvarez has brushed past this potential fight, suggesting he has nothing to gain from the fight. During Crawford’s last appearance against Israil Madrimov, His Excellency had even reached out to Canelo’s team to make the fight real.

However, ‘Cinnamon’ made some absurd demands for the fight, so it quickly fell apart and produced a very public back-and-forth between Canelo and the Saudi Royal. As of the time of writing, there’s no sign of this fight actually coming to fruition. Meanwhile, Crawford remains adamant about fighting Canelo as he looks to exit the sport with a big payday.

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua

Moving on to the heavyweight side of things, former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury just lost his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. Many are speculating whether the English heavyweight would call it quits after his second consecutive career loss. However, there’s a lot of money left on the table for the Brit.

The good news is, now, he has nothing to lose—his precious zero is gone, and Usyk’s win has erased the possibility of a trilogy. Similarly, former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has suffered four losses now, and the biggest fight on the table for him would be a bout against Tyson Fury. The all-British clash would be bigger than Joshua’s bout against Daniel Dubois.

And there’s no reason for Joshua or Fury to not cash in on the fight. Even if it’s not a title fight, the British fan base has been asking for this bout for several years now and if the fight happens, it would definitely be a blockbuster. With both fighters approaching their 40s, 2025 would be the best year for them to get it out of the way.

Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury 2

Although boxing purists often refuse to consider Jake Paul a legitimate boxer—largely due to his choice of opponents, including MMA fighters and aging, out-of-prime boxers—the Cleveland native has undeniably carved out a significant name for himself in the sport. His latest performance against the legendary Mike Tyson, or more precisely, the staggering numbers the fight generated, has cemented his status as a sought-after figure in boxing.

Following the Tyson fight, Paul received several offers but has yet to announce his next opponent. Rumors are swirling about a potential bout with Conor McGregor in India, but the fight fans are clamoring for a rematch with Tommy Fury. The two first faced off in February 2023, a match that handed ‘The Problem Child’ his first professional loss.

If Paul truly wants to be taken seriously as a boxer, a rematch with Fury seems inevitable. Reports previously revealed that Paul’s team, MVP, had approached Fury for a Netflix-backed fight instead of the Tyson showdown. However, Fury and his father turned down the offer. With the success of Paul’s Netflix venture, the dynamics may have shifted, making 2025 an ideal time for this much-anticipated rematch.

Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis is arguably the biggest name in boxing today. However, in a surprising turn of events, Davis recently announced his retirement from the sport after 2025. This revelation came shortly before he shared on social media that his March 1st bout was canceled. Interestingly, his opponent, Lamont Roach, has made conflicting statements, and tickets for the fight remain on sale.

Despite the confusion, fans appear relieved about the fight’s cancellation. Many believed Roach, who was moving up a weight class for the bout, posed little challenge to Davis. Instead, fans are calling for a showdown between Davis and Shakur Stevenson before Davis steps away from the ring. Stevenson, who shares the same weight class as Davis, has been vocal about wanting the fight for some time.

Davis, however, has largely avoided the matchup, even though most experts agree Stevenson would be his toughest challenge yet. With few legitimate contenders left in the division, 2025 seems like the perfect time for these two fighters to finally deliver the matchup fans have been waiting for. This clash has the potential to be a massive pay-per-view event and could even break existing records.

That concludes our list of fights that should happen in 2025, but we would also like to see Joseph Parker, Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez, and Oleksandr Usyk in action as well.

Former WBC super lightweight champion, Devin Haney has filed a lawsuit against former boxing opponent, Ryan Garcia for alleged battery, fraud and unjust enrichment — in the aftermath of their heated professional boxing match back in April of last year.

Haney, who requested the status of ‘champion in recess’ following his initial decision loss to the outspoken, Garcia, saw the defeat overturned to an eventual official ‘No Contest‘ after the Californian tested positive for the banned substance, ostarine.

And according to a report from Boxing Scene, San Francisco puncher, Devin Haney has officially filed a lawsuit alleging battery, fraud, and unjust enrichment against Ryan Garcia, as well as the Victorville native’s promoter, Golden Boy Promotions — while also requesting a full review and adjustment of accounting in relation to their April showdown in Brooklyn.

JUST IN: Anthony Joshua suspended from boxing

“Devin is a consummate professional and Ryan Garcia has shown no respect for himself, the business or the sport,” Devin Haney’s father, Bill Haney told Boxing Scene following the filing of a lawsuit.

“Devin is the face of boxing because he has challenged the franchise in many ways — by working with multiple promoters, by crossing the sides of the street (among broadcasters), and how he’s challenging PED (Performance Enhancing Drug) use. This is all for the good of the sport.”

Furthermore, in a further development, Haney’s attorney, Pat English, confirmed how the former world champion is seeking punitive damages after filing the lawsuit.

“At no time did Devin Haney consent to engage in a bout against a boxer who was positive for a performance-enhancing drug, performance enhancing-procedure or masking agent and would not have proceeded with the bout had he known,” English wrote.

“Ryan Garcia additionally received millions of dollars to which he was not entitled,” English wrote. “It is against equity and good conscience to permit Ryan Garcia to retain what is sought to be recovered in this action.”

It seems Gervonta Davis had been reflecting on it for some time. Only the random Twitter post probably gave Gervonta Davis the opportunity to get it off his chest.

Following the Ryan Garcia win, the lightweight king returned from a year-long break to defend his title against Frank Martin. Notwithstanding the threat’ The Ghost’ posed, the Baltimorean registered yet another win in a typical trademark style. Talk about his next outing has occupied the general discourse ever since.

Excitement peaked when reports of a title unification fight with Vasyl Lomachenko surfaced. But it all came to naught as the Ukrainian champion decided to take a break until next year. Then rumors of a potential clash with Shakur Stevenson also emerged. Since then there have been several hints and suggestions about ‘Tank’ Davis’ second fight, possibly by December. So while he awaits, the sequence from the June 15 fight, where Martin shook him momentarily, had Davis ponder what might have gone wrong. Better still, what he would have done had he been in Martin’s shoes.

Gervonta Davis flattens Frank Martin in 8th-round KO victory - ESPN

No, I knew I f**ked up and did something I shouldn’t,” admitted Gervonta Davis. Further elaborating, he said that if he had been fighting in Frank Martin’s position, he would have exploited the moment to its fullest advantage and, who knows, secured an upset win!

The lightweight champion was actually responding to a tweet from a boxing channel. The post featured a sequence from the dying seconds of the seventh round. The message was simple: “Did Frank Martin hurt Tank Davis?🤔”

As in previous fights, ‘Tank’ Davis started slowly during the first title defense as a full champion. After giving away a few early rounds, he started picking up by the sixth. The action heated up in the seventh round.

With some one-and-a-half minutes left in the round, Gervonta Davis cornered Martin and threw a left uppercut, followed by a right hook to the body. Martin deftly stepped back and kept his right hand down to block the hook. But he missed the incoming left overhand.

However, ‘The Ghost’ continued. With some 25-odd seconds left in the round, he moved away from the ropes. It appears as if he was waiting for Gervonta Davis to attack. The 30-0 star seemingly took the bait and threw a probing jab followed by a straight left to face. But before his left could connect, a counter right from Martin landed perfectly on his face.

It was clear that the shot had hurt the champion. “Oh, counter left Martin that jolted Davis,” said one of the commentators. Another added, “That’s the counter he’s been looking for.” Thankfully for Davis, the setback proved fleeting; he promptly resumed his attack that finally culminated in sending Frank Martin down in the eighth round.

Post-fight, as he revisited the fight with commentator Jim Gray, the swelling under Davis’ right eye appeared quite prominent. He admitted that entering the ring after a long break he felt a bit ‘crusty’ and ‘rusty’.

Perhaps what Gervonta Davis observed may be valid, given his ring instincts. It would be unusual for him not to follow up on the straight right that landed cleanly. Who knows, had Frank Martin kept up the pressure, maybe the lightweight division would have welcomed a new champion to its roster.

Eddie Hearn believes Devin Haney is having a rough time following an overturned defeat by Ryan Garcia.

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) maintained his unbeaten record despite initially suffering a 12-round majority decision loss to Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) in a WBC junior-welterweight title defense. Garcia tested positive for Ostarine, a performance-enhancing drug, in tests conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association. Despite maintaining his innocence, Garcia was banned for a year by the New York State Athletic Commission, and the result of their fight was changed to a no contest.

Haney, 25, is yet to reveal plans regarding a potential return to the ring, and Matchroom’s Hearn, his promoter for the fights with Regis Prograis and Garcia, told All The Smoke Fight: “I think he’s taking it rough, honestly. Like, you know It’s a tough one.

“And, again, because of what he went through physically in that fight, and, also, the world that we live in is so crazy now, he’s getting criticized. People are going, ‘You’re making excuses’. It’s like, woah. Hang on a minute. I lost to the guy.

“He came in heavy. He was positive for PEDS on the night. Like, I think people should actually feel sorry for Devin. Do you know what I mean?”

San Francisco’s Haney was knocked down in rounds seven, 10, and 11 before losing 114-110, 115-109, and 112-112 on the judges’ scorecards. Although Hearn recognised that Haney had performed poorly against Garcia, he said that the former unified lightweight champion proved a lot.

“Regardless of the performance, which was poor, he went through a lot of that – because that’s probably one of the things we didn’t know about Devin,” the promoter said. “We [already] know he’s well-schooled. We know he’s got a great jab. We know he’s got a good IQ.”

Garcia blamed contamination from a tainted supplement as the reason for his positive test results, but Hearn said: “He says he never intentionally took any drug but it was contamination. But if it wasn’t contamination, I believe he’s probably taken that to try and help him make weight for the fight [Garcia weighed in at more that 143lbs].

“He’s now got 12 months, which he probably needs, but only if he uses that 12 months in the right way.”

Fans have slammed the PPV price for Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga, which has been priced at $89.99

The fight takes place on September 14 during Mexican Independence Weekend. Canelo is the massive favorite as he defends his WBA, WBC and WBO belts against the 22-0 Berlanga. Alvarez enters the fight with wins over Jermell Charlo and Jamie Munguia. The fights received a mixed reaction, with fans unhappy that Canelo did not box David Benavidez. And yet, the PPV prices were still fairly high.

The Charlo fight was priced at $84.99. The Munguia fight went further at $89.99. This was more than Errol Spence Jr. vs Terence Crawford’s fight at $84.99 and the Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia fight, which was also at $84.99. Those fights were bigger from a title perspective but also on a global scale. Canelo has been accused of taking easier fights for bigger paydays by avoiding the best.

JUST IN: Vergil Ortiz Jr. Advised to “Stay Far Away” From Terence Crawford

“I know how he feels after losing to Bivol, so he’s been looking for easier fights ever since. Also, I’m not the one who’s afraid of fighting Benavidez or Crawford. Therefore, I knew he was wasting our time and making excuses with big amounts of money that can’t be paid. So I’m continuing my way to make big fights that serve the boxing world, and he’s on his way to making easy show-only fights,” Turki stated

The undercard for the event is also not helping the cause. Caleb Plant faces Trevor McCumby. Plant lost to David Benavidez last year and may not be the same fighter. His opponent is now well known despite his 28-0 record. Plant is his biggest test, meaning fans may not get a competitive fight. Rolando Romero also faces Trevor McCumby. Romero was stopped by Isaac Cruz in his last fight, showing that he had declined since his Gervonta Davis loss. Danny Garcia will also box Eridlandy Lara.

That is seen as a credible match up. However, Garcia has not boxed since 2022 when he beat Jose Benavidez Jr. As for Lara, he stopped Michael Zerafa in March, making him the favorite. Oscar De La Hoyahas previously said that fans will boycott Canelo fights because fans are not getting the best bouts. His Berlanga fight competes with the UFC 304 event at The Sphere, whereSean O’Malley headlines against Merab Dvalishvili. Since that is The Sphere’s first combat sports event, Canelo faces a tough task.

“The September 14th fight has been made – Canelo Alvarez-Edgar Berlanga. A fight that nobody asked for. Fans are now starting to boycott Canelo for continuing to duck you know who. Also, they’re going up against the UFC at The Sphere? Good luck with making a splash with that one,” De La Hoya stated

Despite the criticism, Canelo’s last fight sold over 500,000 PPV buys. If Canelo can get something similar, he will take it. He will fancy his chances since the fight is against a Puerto Rican on Mexican Independence Weekend.

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney have been involved in the most dramatic rivalry of the year with the manner at which Garcia overcame the previously undefeated champion shocking the world – but not as much as the positive drugs test that followed.

Four months on from that controversial encounter, Garcia has now made a one-of-a-kind offer to rematch Haney and put an end to his unbeaten record once again.

Garcia shockingly missed weight for their super-lightweight title clash, meaning that he could no longer win Haney’s belt, but Haney refused to cancel the fight – a decision which he most likely reflects upon with regret. Instead, the American duo battled it out but it was ‘King Ry’ who was able to upset the odds and knock Haney down for the first, second and third time of his career on the way to a majority-decision win.

Since that spellbinding display, the performance has been infamously tainted for well-documented reasons and the result has been overturned to a no-contest. Although, the effects of the beating will still remain with Haney, both physically and mentally and ‘The Dream’ made the decision to vacate his world title last month, admitting that he needs a break from boxing.

Yet, just two months later, Devin Haney has revealed that he is looking to return to the sport outside of the United States, declaring that ‘the game ain’t been the same’ without him in it.

In a clip captured by Fight Hub, Garcia made Haney a unique offer for a rematch, where he detailed how his rival and his team could watch every second of his training camp in preparation for the bout in order to ensure that Haney has no excuses this time around.

“I would gladly beat his a** twice. Like I have said, I can tell the truth twice. I beat him easy; they could watch me every day, watch me train, watch what supplements I take, they can blood test me every week, every day after training, they can have a camera in my training camp, they can see what my plan is and how I’m going to throw a left-hook. They can know everything, and this man will not beat me. I have ruined this man, bad.

“I would do it every day just to prove that I am the better fighter. He didn’t beat me, that is the bottom line, he didn’t even get close to beating me. It is just funny how Bill [Haney] is continuing the same story, making it seem like I cheated and that there is no way that his son would have lost if I didn’t take Ostarine – when I know that I didn’t.”

After Garcia missed weight and revealed that he will be moving up to at least welterweight for his next outing and Haney vacated his super-lightweight belt, it is expected that both will debut at 147lbs when they make their respective returns – whether they will do so against one another remains to be seen.
