Gervonta Davis is undefeated in 30 fights, but pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford believes he will be handed his first loss should he step in with one of two men.

‘Tank’ has scored 28 knockouts in his campaign so far, stopping the likes of Ryan Garcia, Frank Martin, Mario Barrios and Leo Santa Cruz. The southpaw from Baltimore is next out on March 1 against Lamont Roach Jr to defend his WBA Lightweight World Title.

Should he come through as expected, fans will once again call for Davis to take on a fellow champion in a unification bout. With Vasiliy Lomachenko out on the sidelines, his two options are Shakur Stevenson or Keyshawn Davis.

Terence Crawford ‘Told’ Gervonta Davis The Fighter Who Will Be The First To Beat Him: “He Knows”

JUST IN: Gervonta Davis Calls Out Retired World Champion For ‘Dream Fight’

Speaking to FightHype, Crawford said that both men beat ‘Tank.’

“Whoever. I told Tank. Tank knows what’s up. He knows what he’s up against when he fights Shakur or Keyshawn. He wanna fight these guys that everybody in the world knows ain’t gonna give him no fight. They’re not mentally there. They might have a little skill here and there, but mentally-wise they’re not gonna be able to keep it up that whole fight. Them two guys right there [Shakur and Keyshawn] is gonna be the ones that give him his first L.”

Stevenson holds the WBC belt and will defend it later this month against Floyd Schofield. He has long called for the ‘Tank’ fight, however talks have broken down before getting anywhere.

Keyshawn Davis is the division’s newest champion, having defeated Ukrain’s Denys Berinchyk this weekend in New York to snatch the WBO strap.

The fourth round body-shot stoppage saw Keyshawn cement himself as one of the top dogs on the lightweight scene and he made quick time of calling out ‘Tank’ post-fight.

A major sticking point for either fight is that Gervonta says he will retire at the end of 2025, although he recently stated that he may just ‘take a break.’

Canelo Alvarez‘s next opponent before he takes on Terence Crawford has been revealed.

It was a chaotic week for Canelo, with the Mexican superstar seemingly going from one opponent to the other over the course of a few days.

His fight with Crawford was abruptly reported as being off, before it then emerged that Alvarez was in negotiations for a shock clash against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

One final twist then saw the Paul fight fall through, with Canelo once again taking on Crawford in September whilst also signing a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season.

It meant that Alvarez was in search for an opponent in May before facing ‘Bud’ in September, and it has now been revealed by Saudi chief Turki Alalshikh that he will take on IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull.

“The legend Saul Alvarez Canelo will fight William Scull in undisputed fight in Riyadh on the 3rd of May … if he win the fight in September will be undisputed again.”

Canelo then needed just two words himself to respond to the announcement, as he looks to once again become undisputed super-middleweight champion.

“Let’s go!”

Alvarez was undisputed champion at 168lbs up until he was stripped of the IBF belt last year after choosing to take on Edgar Berlanga instead of mandatory challenger Scull. At the time, he was unbothered by the move, telling Million Dollaz Worth Of Game:

“There are levels. There are stars and there are superstars. They make the championship, not the championship makes them. Who is William Scull? I never hear about him. I’m not gonna do whatever they want. I’m gonna do whatever I want. Because I deserve it, because of all I have done.”

Scull then won the vacant belt with a victory over Vladimir Shishkin in October, and has been vocal ever since that he wants the fight against Canelo, who most certainly knows who he is now.

He will now have that chance to shock the world when he takes on the pound-for-pound star in May, but most boxing fans will now be excited about the prospect of the Canelo vs Crawford bout potentially being for undisputed status.

It’s understandable. Given its scale, the despair would be widespread. It’s not every day that one gets an opportunity to see two pound-for-pound best boxers in the world settling for a momentous clash.

For a little while, it appeared that the fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez was a done deal. But bad tidings weren’t far. It became clear – the September clash between the two former undisputed kings has been scrapped.

New developments have been unfolding. Perhaps the most prominent being a potential Cinco de Mayo matchup between Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul. However, a few reports suggest it may not be all over with the Canelo-Crawford duel. Hopes received a major boost when fans came across a few cryptic messages from HE Turki Alalshikh, Alvarez, and later, Crawford. So fans can keep their fingers crossed. There’s power in faith. Given the nitty-gritty of the interaction, their patience might be rewarded with some good news.

JUST IN: “It’ll Shock The World”: Terence Crawford Officially Announces Who He Will Fight Next

Don’t mess with the lion 🦁 4 fights for Canelo with Riyadh Season … ” wrote HE Turki Alalshikh. The two sides even appear to have reached an agreement. Using the laws of the jungle as a metaphor, the Riyadh Season head emphasized that strong, confident people don’t worry about what insignificant people think of them. The real challenge isn’t the environment or the circumstances, but the powerful individual within it, HE Alalshikh added further.

Canelo Alvarez couldn’t have disagreed with the powerful message. The Nebraskan southpaw appeared a bit more circumspect. “I’m waiting on Canelo in September and going to shock the world in Riyadh Season!” he said.

The Ring magazine updated a few details about the Canelo-Riyadh Season deal. “Turki Alalshikh has revealed a four-fight deal between Canelo Alvarez and Riyadh Season is done. Alalshikh has also shared that the first fight will be held in Riyadh in May,” read the esteemed publication’s post.

As it laid out further details about the matchups that extend up to October 2026, perhaps the one that must have caught the maximum attention would have been the second fixture. It was clearly mentioned. “Big fight in Las Vegas vs. Terence Crawford in September.” So the fight is still on the table.

Given the overall confusion, one could take some help from Mike Coppinger‘s tweet. Shedding light on what may have transpired, the boxing insider shared that Canelo vs. Jake Paul was nearly confirmed, but not quite done. However, “Canelo Alvarez has instead closed a four-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh and Riyadh Season to salvage the Terence Crawford mega fight in September.

But what happens to Jake Paul? ‘The Problem Child’ may have already fired the opening shot! According to Coppinger, for the May fixture, two options – Jermall Charlo and Bruno Surace – are currently being looked at. Then after the Crawford epic, for the two remaining bouts potentially scheduled for 2026, Alvarez may begin with a rematch against Dmitry Bivol. Later he could pick either Hamzah Sheeraz or even Chris Eubank Jr.

So fans need not lose heart. As much as they take delight in fixed schedules, the phase preceding the fights may often appear chaotic and often boring.

Numerous conflicting reports this week have left fans confused about when and who Terence Crawford will be fighting next.

The four-division world champion was last out in August of 2024 when he made his debut at super-welterweight, beating Israel Madrimov to win the WBA title. Post-fight, he immediately resumed calling out Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez, an exercise he had started almost a year prior after becoming undisputed at welterweight with a victory over Errol Spence Jr.

Though Canelo was initially dismissive of the fight, claiming he would get no credit for beating a smaller man in Crawford would have to come up two divisions for the challenge, talks progressed well this year.

Terence Crawford Canelo Alvarez

In fact, it was reported that both men had agreed the fight for September in Las Vegas before The Ring magazine – owned by Turki Alalshikh, the man putting the fight together – announced this week that talks had collapsed and it was off the table.

Canelo was then linked with a bout against controversial fighter Jake Paul in May, however late last night Alalshikh announced a u-turn and that he has indeed struck a four-fight deal with Alvarez.

“Canelo in Riyadh in May. The biggest fight in the history of boxing in September. Then two more fights in 2026. Don’t miss, with the lion.”

Crawford then finally broke his silence on it all, confirming he will face Canelo later this year, taking no fight in the interim.

“I’m waiting on Canelo in September and going to shock the world in Riyadh Season!”

Fans will hope that the contract saga is over and done with, and will look forward to an announcement as to who Canelo will face in May. As for Crawford, he will now be working on packing on the pounds for the weight jump.

Terence Crawford was all set to move up two weight-classes to challenge unified super-middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez.

Though the fight has previously seemed unrealistic, the two pound-for-pound stars entered talks this year and looked to have made excellent process on the mega fight.

However, the Ring Magazine, owned by Turki Alalshikh who was putting the fight deal together, has now reported in unequivocal terms that the fight is off.

While fans wait for the reason in talks breaking down for a fight that reportedly had both a date and venue, many took to social media to urge the Mexican to finally face David Benavidez.

Benavidez – whose stock and pulling power has never been higher – has moved up to light-heavyweight after failing to secure his shot at Canelo when competing at super-middle. After winning his debut in the division via decision against Oleksandr Gvozdyk, earlier this month he came out on top of a stern test in the form of hard-hitting Cuban southpaw David Morrell.

The victory saw Benavidez leave the ring with both the WBC Interim belt and the WBA Regular title, putting him in prime position for a fight against the winner of Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol later this month.

There is the potential for a trilogy there if Bivol, who previously beat Canelo, can come out on top against undisputed champion Beterbiev at the second time of asking. With it being well known Canelo wants to avenge that defeat, what better way to earn it than beat number one contender David Benavidez, and tick off a dream fight for fans in the process?

Canelo Alvarez’s blockbuster showdown with Terence Crawford has now been scrapped.

The rivals were set to meet in Las Vegas on September 13 at super-middleweight but The Ring magazine is now reporting the fight has been cancelled. The meeting would have seen Crawford move up two weight divisions and the postponement comes days after reports suggesting Alvarez will fight Jake Paul in May.

Crawford had been pushing the fight for almost a year and both men recently spoke to Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh in London – who has been a huge advocate of this mouthwatering showdown. Terms were believed to have been agreed with an official announcement imminent.

Following the recent meeting with HE, Alvarez was expected to sign a three-fight deal with Alalshikh and was expected to compete in the ring before taking on Crawford in September. Previous reports claimed that ‘Saul’ would be open to a showdown with IBF mandatory challenger William Scull before talks opened with YouTuber Paul.

As for Crawford, the undefeated American star recently moved up to 154lbs and took on Israil Madrimov – where he eventually became a four-weight world champion. Last year, it looked like a clash between the pair was seemingly off the cards after Alalshikh revealed he had no interest in pursuing it anymore. His Excellency had the dust-up at the top of his boxing wishlist and even made the offer to ‘Saul’, but talks between the pair broke down.

Both Crawford and Alalshikh jumped on an Instagram live during UFC 306 back in September – with ‘Bud’ going on to call out Canelo following the latter’s win over Edgar Berlanga. “Yo Turki, tell them we are going to go for Canelo next,” said Crawford. “Yes,” replied Alalshikh. “Let’s go! Canelo, come on. We are ready.”

Crawford then added: “You heard it from him. Just put me in the game b****. Canelo-Crawford, the biggest fight in boxing. But we stay ready though. We stay ready, that way we ain’t got to get ready.”

Canelo Alvarez could be about to take on a shock opponent in May.

The Mexican superstar is set to face fellow pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford in Las Vegas in September, in a bout that will see ‘Bud’ jump up two weight divisions from super-welterweight to super-middleweight.

While Crawford isn’t planned to return before that meeting, it was expected that Alvarez would still compete in May, with a fight against current IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull seemingly the frontrunner.

Canelo Reportedly Set For ‘Biggest Fight In Boxing’ Before Crawford: “It Will Shock The World”

JUST IN: Ryan Garcia’s Comeback Fight Will Now Be For ‘World Title’

in a surprise twist, it has been reported by Julius Julianus that Canelo has agreed a deal to take on on the controversial Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

“BREAKING NEWS There is already an agreement for Jake Paul to be Canelo Álvarez’s rival in May of this year, a source very close to the operation informs me. The event will be co-promoted by Canelo Promotions, MVP and PBC”

Paul last fought in November, defeating boxing legend Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in a fight that divided the sport, with many boxing fans unhappy to see ‘Iron Mike’ competing in his first professional bout for nearly two decades at the age of 58-years-old.

It was a Tyson that was firmly past his best, but if Paul is indeed set to face Canelo, the same won’t be able to be said this time around, with the Mexican superstar arguably in his prime or just a little past it.

Paul has claimed for a number of years that he will take on Alvarez one day, having previously explained why he was so confident it would take place and vowed to ‘shock the world’ when they do meet in the ring.

“This moment will prove that I’m the face of boxing, the largest attraction. Me vs. Canelo at 200 pounds for the cruiserweight championship of the world is the biggest fight, arguably even bigger than me vs. Tyson.

“It makes so much sense. Canelo is on his way out. He’s going to want a payday, and I want to show the world that all the s*** I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is actually true.

“I’ll have the biggest upset in the sport of boxing, and we will fight to really see who actually is the face of boxing because, after this event, I’m going to claim it.”

While neither team has commented on the report, it would certainly be a huge, albeit controversial, attraction. Canelo has downplayed Paul’s ability in the past.

Claressa Shields made history on Sunday night.

The self-proclaimed GWOAT of boxing unified all four belts in the women’s heavyweight division by dominating the significantly overmatched Danielle Perkins over the distance

Shields, boxing in her birthplace of Flint, Michigan, dropped the previously undefeated Perkins in the tenth and final round with a right hook en route to a comfortable unanimous decision victory.

The three judges scored the fight in her favour by margins of 97-92, 99-90, and 100-89 to improve her unblemished record to 16-0.

Her triumph at heavyweight comes after the two-time Olympic gold medallist’s undisputed reigns in the super welterweight and middleweight divisions.

In doing so, she became the first three-weight undisputed champion in the four-belt era.

Prior to this weekend, Shields was tied with Oleksandr Usyk (cruiserweight and heavyweight), Terence Crawford (super lightweight and welterweight) and Naoya Inoue (bantamweight and super bantamweight) on two.

But her latest triumph takes her clear of the pack.

She is also the first undisputed female heavyweight champion (175lbs plus) in history as well.

Speaking after her record-breaking win, Shields said: “Danielle was strong, she was definitely a problem but my experience and my skills got me over it.

“I’ve been in plenty of street fights with bigger people and I had to use some of my skills in that today, too.

“So, when I dropped her in the last round, it’s because she got greedy.”

Shields later revealed that she was almost forced out of the fight after sustaining a shoulder injury last week.

“I actually think I’m going to have to have surgery on my left arm,” she added.

“I tore my labrum last week, so the fight almost didn’t happen.

“I didn’t want to let Flint down, but I really couldn’t use my jab the way that I wanted to.

“I iced it, I did therapy and now I think I’m going to have a shoulder surgery.”

Shields is now targeting a rematch with Hanna Gabriels next after snatching the IBF and WBA middleweight titles away from the Costa Rican in 2018.

She continued: “It ain’t enough. That’s how I think. I think that I didn’t get my flowers for so many years so even though I’m getting them now, it’s like that’s not enough.

“I deserve more than that. I’m fighting for a million dollars.

“I’m supposed to be getting paid five. This ain’t it. So, for me, that’s where the fire comes from.”

Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez is preparing for a big year in the sport of boxing, with his usual May and September dates now taking shape.

The 34-year-old is currently unified super-middleweight world champion and, despite previously dismissing the fight, has recently been in talks with fellow four-division titlist Terence Crawford for a fight this September. The match-up will see Crawford jump up two weight classes from his last outing.

Canelo intends to keep his usual fight date around Cinco De Mayo in May before facing ‘Bud’ on the weekend of Mexican Independence Day later in the year.

JUST IN: Former Multi-weight World Champion Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Anthony Joshua Can Ever Become World Champion Again

Speaking to Boxing Azteca, his longtime trainer and manager Eddy Reynoso named William Scull (23-0, 9 KOs) and Christian Mbilli (28-0, 23 KOs) as the two top options for May.

“Well, there are several, there is William Scull, there is the other classified by the WBO, Mbilli, I think he lives in Canada. They are the ones that are more or less there right now, but there is nothing concrete. You can also hear about Crawford for September, but we still don’t really have anything sure until about 15 days or so.”

Scull is the current IBF World Champion in the super-middleweight ranks having picked up the belt when Canelo was stripped due to not facing him as mandatory challenger. A win over the Cuban fighting out of Germany would give him the chance to become undisputed again, adding more to the Crawford mega-fight.

Christian Mbilli - Solide 28-0 (Highlights / Knockouts)

Cameroonian-French Mbilli is currently ranked number one with the WBC and WBA and two with the WBO. He presents a more dangerous option than the tricky Scull with 23 knockouts from 28 wins.

As for Crawford, he recently confirmed that he will not be taking a fight before September when he is expected to go in with the elite Mexican.

A Former super lightweight world champion has had their say on the upcoming mega-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

‘Bud’ is set to challenge Canelo for his unified WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles later this year, although an official announcement is yet to be made. The 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska faces his biggest test yet as he bids to become a five-weight world champion in what’s been a glittering career.

After months of speculation, the pound-for-pound stars have reportedly agreed to face each other in one of the biggest fights in boxing.

It has captured the attention of a number of prominent figures within the sport, including Rolly Romero, who held the WBA title at 140lbs between 2023 and 2024.

Speaking to ESNEWS, Romero made no mistake in backing the Mexican icon to prevail, claiming you would have to be ‘stupid’ to give Crawford any chance.

“Let me ask you this … Who’s a better fighter, Floyd Mayweather or Terence Crawford? … You’re gonna compare a 168lb solid grown man Canelo to fight Terence Crawford?

All the people who think Crawford would even have a single chance against Canelo, they’re f*****g stupid. It’s not even close. If anyone truly believes Crawford will beat Canelo I will bet them any amount of money. They have weight classes for a reason.”

Crawford is faced with a monumental task when he steps up to 168lbs to face Canelo, who is unbeaten in his last five outings with victories over Gennady Golovkin, Jermell Charlo and Jaime Munguia. They are due to clash this September in Las Vegas, with the Allegiant Stadium emerging as the rumoured location.
